2 Japheth's sons: Gomer, Magog, the Medes, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, Tiras. | 2 Filii Iapheth: Gomer et Magog et Madai et Iavan et Thubal et Mosoch et Thiras. |
3 Gomer's sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, Togarmah. | 3 Porro filii Gomer: Aschenez et Riphath et Thogorma. |
4 Javan's sons: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, the Dananites. | 4 Filii autem Iavan: Elisa et Tharsis, Cetthim et Rodanim. |
5 From these came the dispersal to the islands of the nations. These were Japheth's sons, in theirrespective countries, each with its own language, by clan and nation. | 5 Ab his divisae sunt insulae gentium in regionibus suis, unusquisque secundum linguam suam et familias suas in nationibus suis. |
6 Ham's sons: Cush, Mizraim, Put, Canaan. | 6 Filii autem Cham: Chus et Mesraim et Phut et Chanaan. |
7 Cush's sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabteca. Raamah's sons: Sheba, Dedan. | 7 Filii Chus: Saba et Hevila et Sabatha et Regma et Sabathacha. Filii Regma: Saba et Dedan. |
8 Cush fathered Nimrod who was the first potentate on earth. | 8 Porro Chus genuit Nemrod: ipse coepit esse potens in terra |
9 He was a mighty hunter in the eyes of Yahweh, hence the saying, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in theeyes of Yahweh'. | 9 et erat robustus venator coram Domino. Ob hoc exivit proverbium: “Quasi Nemrod robustus venator coram Domino”. |

13 Mizraim fathered the people of Lud, of Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh, | 13 At vero Mesraim genuit Ludim et Anamim et Laabim, Nephthuim |
14 Pathros, Casluh and Caphtor, from which the Philistines came. | 14 et Phetrusim et Chasluim et Caphtorim, de quibus egressi sunt Philisthim. |
15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his first-born, then Heth, | 15 Chanaan autem genuit Sidonem primogenitum suum, Hetthaeum |
16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, Girgashites, | 16 et Iebusaeum et Amorraeum, Gergesaeum, |
17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, | 17 Hevaeum et Aracaeum, Sinaeum |
18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out. | 18 et Aradium, Samaraeum et Emathaeum; et post haec disseminati sunt populi Chananaeorum. |
19 The Canaanite frontier stretched from Sidon al the way to Gerar near Gaza, and al the way toSodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboi m near Lesha. | 19 Factique sunt termini Chanaan venientibus a Sidone Geraram usque Gazam, donec ingrediaris Sodomam et Gomorram et Adamam et Seboim usque Lesa. |

21 Shem too fathered sons, being ancestor of all the sons of Eber and Japheth's elder brother. | 21 De Sem quoque nati sunt, patre omnium filiorum Heber, fratre Iapheth maiore. |
22 Shem's sons: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram. | 22 Filii Sem: Elam et Assur et Arphaxad et Lud et Aram. |

29 Ophir, Havilah, Jobab; al these were sons of Joktan. | 29 et Ophir et Hevila et Iobab. Omnes isti filii Iectan; |
30 They occupied a stretch of country from Mesha all the way to Sephar, the eastern mountain range. | 30 et facta est habitatio eorum de Messa pergentibus usque Sephar montem orientalem. |
31 These were Shem's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations. | 31 Isti filii Sem secundum cognationes et linguas et regiones in gentibus suis. |
32 Such were the clans of Noah's descendants, listed by descent and nation. From them, other nationsbranched out on earth after the flood. | 32 Hae familiae filiorum Noe iuxta generationes et nationes suas. Ab his divisae sunt gentes in terra post diluvium. |
