NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, to whom sons were born afterthe flood:	1 Hae sunt generationes filio rum Noe, Sem, Cham et Ia pheth; natique sunt eis filii post diluvium.
2 Japheth's sons: Gomer, Magog, the Medes, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, Tiras.	2 Filii Iapheth: Gomer et Magog et Madai et Iavan et Thubal et Mosoch et Thiras.
3 Gomer's sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, Togarmah.	3 Porro filii Gomer: Aschenez et Riphath et Thogorma.
4 Javan's sons: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, the Dananites.	4 Filii autem Iavan: Elisa et Tharsis, Cetthim et Rodanim.
5 From these came the dispersal to the islands of the nations. These were Japheth's sons, in theirrespective countries, each with its own language, by clan and nation.	5 Ab his divisae sunt insulae gentium in regionibus suis, unusquisque secundum linguam suam et familias suas in nationibus suis.
6 Ham's sons: Cush, Mizraim, Put, Canaan.	6 Filii autem Cham: Chus et Mesraim et Phut et Chanaan.
7 Cush's sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabteca. Raamah's sons: Sheba, Dedan.	7 Filii Chus: Saba et Hevila et Sabatha et Regma et Sabathacha. Filii Regma: Saba et Dedan.
8 Cush fathered Nimrod who was the first potentate on earth.	8 Porro Chus genuit Nemrod: ipse coepit esse potens in terra
9 He was a mighty hunter in the eyes of Yahweh, hence the saying, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in theeyes of Yahweh'.	9 et erat robustus venator coram Domino. Ob hoc exivit proverbium: “Quasi Nemrod robustus venator coram Domino”.
10 The mainstays of his empire were Babel, Erech and Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar.	10 Fuit autem principium regni eius Babylon et Arach et Achad et Chalanne in terra Sennaar.
11 From this country came Asshur, and he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,	11 De terra illa egressus est in Assyriam et aedificavit Nineven et Rohobothir et Chale,
12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (this being the capital).	12 Resen quoque inter Nineven et Chale; haec est civitas magna.
13 Mizraim fathered the people of Lud, of Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh,	13 At vero Mesraim genuit Ludim et Anamim et Laabim, Nephthuim
14 Pathros, Casluh and Caphtor, from which the Philistines came.	14 et Phetrusim et Chasluim et Caphtorim, de quibus egressi sunt Philisthim.
15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his first-born, then Heth,	15 Chanaan autem genuit Sidonem primogenitum suum, Hetthaeum
16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, Girgashites,	16 et Iebusaeum et Amorraeum, Gergesaeum,
17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,	17 Hevaeum et Aracaeum, Sinaeum
18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out.	18 et Aradium, Samaraeum et Emathaeum; et post haec disseminati sunt populi Chananaeorum.
19 The Canaanite frontier stretched from Sidon al the way to Gerar near Gaza, and al the way toSodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboi m near Lesha.	19 Factique sunt termini Chanaan venientibus a Sidone Geraram usque Gazam, donec ingrediaris Sodomam et Gomorram et Adamam et Seboim usque Lesa.
20 These were Ham's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.	20 Hi sunt filii Cham in cognationibus et linguis terrisque et gentibus suis.
21 Shem too fathered sons, being ancestor of all the sons of Eber and Japheth's elder brother.	21 De Sem quoque nati sunt, patre omnium filiorum Heber, fratre Iapheth maiore.
22 Shem's sons: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram.	22 Filii Sem: Elam et Assur et Arphaxad et Lud et Aram.
23 Aram's sons: Uz, Hul, Gether and Mash.	23 Filii Aram: Us et Hul et Gether et Mes.
24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber.	24 At vero Arphaxad genuit Sala, de quo ortus est Heber.
25 To Eber were born two sons: the first was cal ed Peleg, because it was in his time that the earth wasdivided, and his brother was called Joktan.	25 Natique sunt Heber filii duo: nomen uni Phaleg, eo quod in diebus eius divisa sit terra, et nomen fratris eius Iectan.
26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,	26 Qui Iectan genuit Elmodad et Saleph et Asarmoth, Iare
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,	27 et Adoram et Uzal et Decla
28 Obal, Abima-El, Sheba,	28 et Ebal et Abimael, Saba
29 Ophir, Havilah, Jobab; al these were sons of Joktan.	29 et Ophir et Hevila et Iobab. Omnes isti filii Iectan;
30 They occupied a stretch of country from Mesha all the way to Sephar, the eastern mountain range.	30 et facta est habitatio eorum de Messa pergentibus usque Sephar montem orientalem.
31 These were Shem's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.	31 Isti filii Sem secundum cognationes et linguas et regiones in gentibus suis.
32 Such were the clans of Noah's descendants, listed by descent and nation. From them, other nationsbranched out on earth after the flood.	32 Hae familiae filiorum Noe iuxta generationes et nationes suas. Ab his divisae sunt gentes in terra post diluvium.
