NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 These are the descendants of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, to whom sons were born afterthe flood:	1 ואלה תולדת בני נח שם חם ויפת ויולדו להם בנים אחר המבול
2 Japheth's sons: Gomer, Magog, the Medes, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, Tiras.	2 בני יפת גמר ומגוג ומדי ויון ותבל ומשך ותירס
3 Gomer's sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, Togarmah.	3 ובני גמר אשכנז וריפת ותגרמה
4 Javan's sons: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim, the Dananites.	4 ובני יון אלישה ותרשיש כתים ודדנים
5 From these came the dispersal to the islands of the nations. These were Japheth's sons, in theirrespective countries, each with its own language, by clan and nation.	5 מאלה נפרדו איי הגוים בארצתם איש ללשנו למשפחתם בגויהם
6 Ham's sons: Cush, Mizraim, Put, Canaan.	6 ובני חם כוש ומצרים ופוט וכנען
7 Cush's sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, Sabteca. Raamah's sons: Sheba, Dedan.	7 ובני כוש סבא וחוילה וסבתה ורעמה וסבתכא ובני רעמה שבא ודדן
8 Cush fathered Nimrod who was the first potentate on earth.	8 וכוש ילד את נמרד הוא החל להיות גבר בארץ
9 He was a mighty hunter in the eyes of Yahweh, hence the saying, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in theeyes of Yahweh'.	9 הוא היה גבר ציד לפני יהוה על כן יאמר כנמרד גבור ציד לפני יהוה
10 The mainstays of his empire were Babel, Erech and Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar.	10 ותהי ראשית ממלכתו בבל וארך ואכד וכלנה בארץ שנער
11 From this country came Asshur, and he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,	11 מן הארץ ההוא יצא אשור ויבן את נינוה ואת רחבת עיר ואת כלח
12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (this being the capital).	12 ואת רסן בין נינוה ובין כלח הוא העיר הגדלה
13 Mizraim fathered the people of Lud, of Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh,	13 ומצרים ילד את לודים ואת ענמים ואת להבים ואת נפתחים
14 Pathros, Casluh and Caphtor, from which the Philistines came.	14 ואת פתרסים ואת כסלחים אשר יצאו משם פלשתים ואת כפתרים
15 Canaan fathered Sidon, his first-born, then Heth,	15 וכנען ילד את צידן בכרו ואת חת
16 and the Jebusites, the Amorites, Girgashites,	16 ואת היבוסי ואת האמרי ואת הגרגשי
17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,	17 ואת החוי ואת הערקי ואת הסיני
18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite clans spread out.	18 ואת הארודי ואת הצמרי ואת החמתי ואחר נפצו משפחות הכנעני
19 The Canaanite frontier stretched from Sidon al the way to Gerar near Gaza, and al the way toSodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboi m near Lesha.	19 ויהי גבול הכנעני מצידן באכה גררה עד עזה באכה סדמה ועמרה ואדמה וצבים עד לשע
20 These were Ham's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.	20 אלה בני חם למשפחתם ללשנתם בארצתם בגויהם
21 Shem too fathered sons, being ancestor of all the sons of Eber and Japheth's elder brother.	21 ולשם ילד גם הוא אבי כל בני עבר אחי יפת הגדול
22 Shem's sons: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram.	22 בני שם עילם ואשור וארפכשד ולוד וארם
23 Aram's sons: Uz, Hul, Gether and Mash.	23 ובני ארם עוץ וחול וגתר ומש
24 Arpachshad fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber.	24 וארפכשד ילד את שלח ושלח ילד את עבר
25 To Eber were born two sons: the first was cal ed Peleg, because it was in his time that the earth wasdivided, and his brother was called Joktan.	25 ולעבר ילד שני בנים שם האחד פלג כי בימיו נפלגה הארץ ושם אחיו יקטן
26 Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,	26 ויקטן ילד את אלמודד ואת שלף ואת חצרמות ואת ירח
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,	27 ואת הדורם ואת אוזל ואת דקלה
28 Obal, Abima-El, Sheba,	28 ואת עובל ואת אבימאל ואת שבא
29 Ophir, Havilah, Jobab; al these were sons of Joktan.	29 ואת אופר ואת חוילה ואת יובב כל אלה בני יקטן
30 They occupied a stretch of country from Mesha all the way to Sephar, the eastern mountain range.	30 ויהי מושבם ממשא באכה ספרה הר הקדם
31 These were Shem's sons, by clans and languages, by countries and nations.	31 אלה בני שם למשפחתם ללשנתם בארצתם לגויהם
32 Such were the clans of Noah's descendants, listed by descent and nation. From them, other nationsbranched out on earth after the flood.	32 אלה משפחת בני נח לתולדתם בגויהם ומאלה נפרדו הגוים בארץ אחר המבול
