1 Concerning times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for anything to be written to you.	1 О временах же и сроках нет нужды писать к вам, братия,
2 For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night.	2 ибо сами вы достоверно знаете, что день Господень так придет, как тать ночью.
3 When people are saying, "Peace and security," then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman,and they will not escape.	3 Ибо, когда будут говорить: 'мир и безопасность', тогда внезапно постигнет их пагуба, подобно как мука родами [постигает] имеющую во чреве, и не избегнут.
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief.	4 Но вы, братия, не во тьме, чтобы день застал вас, как тать.
5 For all of you are children of the light and children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness.	5 Ибо все вы--сыны света и сыны дня: мы--не [сыны] ночи, ни тьмы.
6 Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober.	6 Итак, не будем спать, как и прочие, но будем бодрствовать и трезвиться.
7 Those who sleep go to sleep at night, and those who are drunk get drunk at night.	7 Ибо спящие спят ночью, и упивающиеся упиваются ночью.
8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet that is hope for salvation.	8 Мы же, будучи [сынами] дня, да трезвимся, облекшись в броню веры и любви и в шлем надежды спасения,
9 For God did not destine us for wrath, but to gain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,	9 потому что Бог определил нас не на гнев, но к получению спасения через Господа нашего Иисуса Христа,
10 who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live together with him.	10 умершего за нас, чтобы мы, бодрствуем ли, или спим, жили вместе с Ним.
11 Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do.	11 Посему увещавайте друг друга и назидайте один другого, как вы и делаете.
12 We ask you, brothers, to respect those who are laboring among you and who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you,	12 Просим же вас, братия, уважать трудящихся у вас, и предстоятелей ваших в Господе, и вразумляющих вас,
13 and to show esteem for them with special love on account of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.	13 и почитать их преимущественно с любовью за дело их; будьте в мире между собою.
14 We urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, cheer the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with all.	14 Умоляем также вас, братия, вразумляйте бесчинных, утешайте малодушных, поддерживайте слабых, будьте долготерпеливы ко всем.
15 See that no one returns evil for evil; rather, always seek what is good (both) for each other and for all.	15 Смотрите, чтобы кто кому не воздавал злом за зло; но всегда ищите добра и друг другу и всем.
16 Rejoice always.	16 Всегда радуйтесь.
17 Pray without ceasing.	17 Непрестанно молитесь.
18 In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.	18 За все благодарите: ибо такова о вас воля Божия во Христе Иисусе.
19 Do not quench the Spirit.	19 Духа не угашайте.
20 Do not despise prophetic utterances.	20 Пророчества не уничижайте.
21 Test everything; retain what is good.	21 Все испытывайте, хорошего держитесь.
22 Refrain from every kind of evil.	22 Удерживайтесь от всякого рода зла.
23 May the God of peace himself make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.	23 Сам же Бог мира да освятит вас во всей полноте, и ваш дух и душа и тело во всей целости да сохранится без порока в пришествие Господа нашего Иисуса Христа.
24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will also accomplish it.	24 Верен Призывающий вас, Который и сотворит [сие].
25 Brothers, pray for us (too).	25 Братия! молитесь о нас.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.	26 Приветствуйте всех братьев лобзанием святым.
27 I adjure you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the brothers.	27 Заклинаю вас Господом прочитать сие послание всем святым братиям.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.	28 Благодать Господа нашего Иисуса Христа с вами. Аминь.
