Psalms 91

1 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,	1 (Salmo. Cantico. Nel giorno di sabato).
2 Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."	2 E' bello dar lode al Signore, cantar inni al tuo nome, o Altissimo,
3 God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,	3 Per proclamare al mattino la tua misericordia, e la tua fedeltà durante la notte,
4 Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.	4 Sul decacordo, sul salterò, col canto sulla cetra.
5 You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,	5 Mi hai fatto rallegrare, o Signore, colle cose da te create, ed io esulterò per le opere delle tue mani.
6 Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.	6 Come son magnifiche le tue opere, o Signore! Quanto son profondi i tuoi pensieri!
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.	7 L'insensato non lo riconoscerà, lo stolto non capirà queste cose.
8 You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.	8 Sebbene i peccatori sian venuti su come l'erba, e faccian comparsa tutti gli operatori d'iniquità, essi periranno per sempre;
9 You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.	9 Tu invece sei l'Altissimo in eterno, o Signore.
10 No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.	10 Infatti i tuoi nemici, o Signore, i tuoi nemici, ecco, periranno, e tutti gli operatori d'iniquità saran dispersi.
11 For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.	11 E sarà esaltata la mia forza come quella del liocorno, e la mia vecchiaia per copiosa misericordia.
12 With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.	12 Il mio occhio può guardare con disprezzo i miei nemici, e il mio orecchio sentirà parlare dei maligni insorti contro di me.
13 You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.	13 Il giusto fiorirà come palma, crescerà come il cedro del Libano.
14 Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.	14 Trapiantati nella casa del Signore, fioriranno negli atrii della casa del nostro Dio.
15 All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.	15 Si moltiplicheranno anche in feconda vecchiaia, e si troveranno in sì buone condizioni
16 With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.	16 Da proclamare che retto è il Signore Dio nostro e che in lui non c'è ingiustizia.
