Psalms 91

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,	1 Qui habite le secret d'Elyôn passe la nuit à l'ombre de Shaddaï,
2 Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."	2 disant à Yahvé: Mon abri, ma forteresse, mon Dieu sur qui je compte!
3 God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,	3 C'est lui qui t'arrache au filet de l'oiseleur qui s'affaire à détruire;
4 Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.	4 il te couvre de ses ailes, tu as sous son pennage un abri. Armure et bouclier, sa vérité.
5 You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,	5 Tu ne craindras ni les terreurs de la nuit, ni la flèche qui vole de jour,
6 Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.	6 ni la peste qui marche en la ténèbre, ni le fléau qui dévaste à midi.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.	7 Qu'il en tombe mille à tes côtés et 10.000 à ta droite, toi, tu restes hors d'atteinte.
8 You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.	8 Il suffit que tes yeux regardent, tu verras le salaire des impies,
9 You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.	9 toi qui dis: Yahvé mon abri! et qui fais d'Elyôn ton refuge.
10 No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.	10 Le malheur ne peut fondre sur toi, ni la plaie approcher de ta tente:
11 For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.	11 il a pour toi donné ordre à ses anges de te garder en toutes tes voies.
12 With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.	12 Sur leurs mains ils te porteront pour qu'à la pierre ton pied ne heurte;
13 You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.	13 sur le fauve et la vipère tu marcheras, tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon.
14 Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.	14 Puisqu'il s'attache à moi, je l'affranchis, je l'exalte puisqu'il connaît mon nom.
15 All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.	15 Il m'appelle et je lui réponds: "Je suis près de lui dans la détresse, je le délivre et je le glorifie,
16 With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.	16 de longs jours je veux le rassasier et je ferai qu'il voie mon salut.
