NEW AMERICAN BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,1 You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,
Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."2 saying to Yahweh, 'My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!'
God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,3 He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;
Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.4 he covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield andprotection.
You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,5 You need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,
Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.6 the plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.7 Though a thousand fal at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself wil remainunscathed.
You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.8 You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,
You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.9 you who say, 'Yahweh my refuge!' and make Elyon your fortress.
No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.10 No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;
For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.11 he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.
With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.12 They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.
You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.13 You wil walk upon wild beast and adder, you wil trample young lions and snakes.
Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.14 'Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.
All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.15 He cal s to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.
With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.16 I shal satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.'
