Psalms 91

1 You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,	1 Chi abita al riparo dell’Altissimopasserà la notte all’ombra dell’Onnipotente.
2 Say to the LORD, "My refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust."	2 Io dico al Signore: «Mio rifugio e mia fortezza,mio Dio in cui confido».
3 God will rescue you from the fowler's snare, from the destroying plague,	3 Egli ti libererà dal laccio del cacciatore,dalla peste che distrugge.
4 Will shelter you with pinions, spread wings that you may take refuge; God's faithfulness is a protecting shield.	4 Ti coprirà con le sue penne,sotto le sue ali troverai rifugio;la sua fedeltà ti sarà scudo e corazza.
5 You shall not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day,	5 Non temerai il terrore della nottené la freccia che vola di giorno,
6 Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.	6 la peste che vaga nelle tenebre,lo sterminio che devasta a mezzogiorno.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, near you it shall not come.	7 Mille cadranno al tuo fiancoe diecimila alla tua destra,ma nulla ti potrà colpire.
8 You need simply watch; the punishment of the wicked you will see.	8 Basterà che tu apra gli occhie vedrai la ricompensa dei malvagi!
9 You have the LORD for your refuge; you have made the Most High your stronghold.	9 «Sì, mio rifugio sei tu, o Signore!».Tu hai fatto dell’Altissimo la tua dimora:
10 No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.	10 non ti potrà colpire la sventura,nessun colpo cadrà sulla tua tenda.
11 For God commands the angels to guard you in all your ways.	11 Egli per te darà ordine ai suoi angelidi custodirti in tutte le tue vie.
12 With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.	12 Sulle mani essi ti porteranno,perché il tuo piede non inciampi nella pietra.
13 You shall tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.	13 Calpesterai leoni e vipere,schiaccerai leoncelli e draghi.
14 Whoever clings to me I will deliver; whoever knows my name I will set on high.	14 «Lo libererò, perché a me si è legato,lo porrò al sicuro, perché ha conosciuto il mio nome.
15 All who call upon me I will answer; I will be with them in distress; I will deliver them and give them honor.	15 Mi invocherà e io gli darò risposta;nell’angoscia io sarò con lui,lo libererò e lo renderò glorioso.
16 With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.	16 Lo sazierò di lunghi giornie gli farò vedere la mia salvezza».
