NEW AMERICAN BIBLEVULGATA
1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose love endures forever.1 Alleluja. Confitemini Domino, quoniam bonus,
quoniam in sæculum misericordia ejus.
2 Who can tell the mighty deeds of the LORD, proclaim in full God's praise?2 Dicant qui redempti sunt a Domino,
quos redemit de manu inimici,
et de regionibus congregavit eos,
3 Happy those who do what is right, whose deeds are always just.3 a solis ortu, et occasu, ab aquilone, et mari.
4 Remember me, LORD, as you favor your people; come to me with your saving help,4 Erraverunt in solitudine, in inaquoso ;
viam civitatis habitaculi non invenerunt.
5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen, rejoice in the joy of your people, and glory with your heritage.5 Esurientes et sitientes,
anima eorum in ipsis defecit.
6 We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong and are guilty.6 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum cum tribularentur,
et de necessitatibus eorum eripuit eos ;
7 Our ancestors in Egypt did not attend to your wonders. They did not remember your great love; they defied the Most High at the Red Sea.7 et deduxit eos in viam rectam,
ut irent in civitatem habitationis.
8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake to make his power known.8 Confiteantur Domino misericordiæ ejus,
et mirabilia ejus filiis hominum.
9 He roared at the Red Sea and it dried up. He led them through the deep as through a desert.9 Quia satiavit animam inanem,
et animam esurientem satiavit bonis.
10 He rescued them from hostile hands, freed them from the power of the enemy.10 Sedentes in tenebris et umbra mortis ;
vinctos in mendicitate et ferro.
11 The waters covered their oppressors; not one of them survived.11 Quia exacerbaverunt eloquia Dei,
et consilium Altissimi irritaverunt.
12 Then they believed his words and sang songs of praise.12 Et humiliatum est in laboribus cor eorum ;
infirmati sunt, nec fuit qui adjuvaret.
13 But they soon forgot all he had done; they had no patience for his plan.13 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum cum tribularentur ;
et de necessitatibus eorum liberavit eos.
14 In the desert they gave way to their cravings, tempted God in the wasteland.14 Et eduxit eos de tenebris et umbra mortis,
et vincula eorum dirupit.
15 So he gave them what they asked and sent among them a wasting disease.15 Confiteantur Domino misericordiæ ejus,
et mirabilia ejus filiis hominum.
16 In the camp they challenged Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.16 Quia contrivit portas æreas,
et vectes ferreos confregit.
17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, it closed on the followers of Abiram.17 Suscepit eos de via iniquitatis eorum ;
propter injustitias enim suas humiliati sunt.
18 Against that company the fire blazed; flames consumed the wicked.18 Omnem escam abominata est anima eorum,
et appropinquaverunt usque ad portas mortis.
19 At Horeb they fashioned a calf, worshiped a metal statue.19 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum cum tribularentur,
et de necessitatibus eorum liberavit eos.
20 They exchanged their glorious God for the image of a grass-eating bull.20 Misit verbum suum, et sanavit eos,
et eripuit eos de interitionibus eorum.
21 They forgot the God who saved them, who did great deeds in Egypt,21 Confiteantur Domino misericordiæ ejus,
et mirabilia ejus filiis hominum.
22 Amazing deeds in the land of Ham, fearsome deeds at the Red Sea.22 Et sacrificent sacrificium laudis,
et annuntient opera ejus in exsultatione.
23 He would have decreed their destruction, had not Moses, the chosen leader, Withstood him in the breach to turn back his destroying anger.23 Qui descendunt mare in navibus,
facientes operationem in aquis multis :
24 Next they despised the beautiful land; they did not believe the promise.24 ipsi viderunt opera Domini,
et mirabilia ejus in profundo.
25 In their tents they complained; they did not obey the LORD.25 Dixit, et stetit spiritus procellæ,
et exaltati sunt fluctus ejus.
26 So with raised hand he swore to destroy them in the desert,26 Ascendunt usque ad cælos, et descendunt usque ad abyssos ;
anima eorum in malis tabescebat.
27 To scatter their descendants among the nations, disperse them in foreign lands.27 Turbati sunt, et moti sunt sicut ebrius,
et omnis sapientia eorum devorata est.
28 They joined in the rites of Baal of Peor, ate food sacrificed to dead gods.28 Et clamaverunt ad Dominum cum tribularentur ;
et de necessitatibus eorum eduxit eos.
29 They provoked him by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.29 Et statuit procellam ejus in auram,
et siluerunt fluctus ejus.
30 Then Phinehas rose to intervene, and the plague was brought to a halt.30 Et lætati sunt quia siluerunt ;
et deduxit eos in portum voluntatis eorum.
31 This was counted for him as a righteous deed for all generations to come.31 Confiteantur Domino misericordiæ ejus,
et mirabilia ejus filiis hominum.
32 At the waters of Meribah they angered God, and Moses suffered because of them.32 Et exaltent eum in ecclesia plebis,
et in cathedra seniorum laudent eum.
33 They so embittered his spirit that rash words crossed his lips.33 Posuit flumina in desertum,
et exitus aquarum in sitim ;
34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,34 terram fructiferam in salsuginem,
a malitia inhabitantium in ea.
35 But mingled with the nations and imitated their ways.35 Posuit desertum in stagna aquarum,
et terram sine aqua in exitus aquarum.
36 They worshiped their idols and were ensnared by them.36 Et collocavit illic esurientes,
et constituerunt civitatem habitationis :
37 They sacrificed to the gods their own sons and daughters,37 et seminaverunt agros et plantaverunt vineas,
et fecerunt fructum nativitatis.
38 Shedding innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed.38 Et benedixit eis, et multiplicati sunt nimis ;
et jumenta eorum non minoravit.
39 They defiled themselves by their actions, became adulterers by their conduct.39 Et pauci facti sunt et vexati sunt,
a tribulatione malorum et dolore.
40 So the LORD grew angry with his people, abhorred his own heritage.40 Effusa est contemptio super principes :
et errare fecit eos in invio, et non in via.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their adversaries ruled them.41 Et adjuvit pauperem de inopia,
et posuit sicut oves familias.
42 Their enemies oppressed them, kept them under subjection.42 Videbunt recti, et lætabuntur ;
et omnis iniquitas oppilabit os suum.
43 Many times did he rescue them, but they kept rebelling and scheming and were brought low by their own guilt.43 Quis sapiens, et custodiet hæc,
et intelliget misericordias Domini ?
44 Still God had regard for their affliction when he heard their wailing.
45 For their sake he remembered his covenant and relented in his abundant love,
46 Winning for them compassion from all who held them captive.
47 Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you.
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah!
