1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose love endures forever.	1 Alleluia: lodate Dio. Date lode al Signore, perché egli è buono, perché la misericordia di lui o eterna.
2 Who can tell the mighty deeds of the LORD, proclaim in full God's praise?	2 Lo dicano quelli, che dal Signore furon redenti, i quali egli riscattò dal dominio dell'inimico, e gli ha raccolti di tra le nazioni.
3 Happy those who do what is right, whose deeds are always just.	3 Dall'oriente, e dall'occidente, da settentrione, e dal mare.
4 Remember me, LORD, as you favor your people; come to me with your saving help,	4 Andaron errando per la solitudine, per aridi luoghi, non trovando strada per giungere a una città da abitare.
5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen, rejoice in the joy of your people, and glory with your heritage.	5 Tormentati dalla fame, e dalla sete, era venuto meno in essi il loro spirito.
6 We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong and are guilty.	6 E alzaron le grida al Signore, mentr'erano tribolati, e gli liberò dalle loro angustie.
7 Our ancestors in Egypt did not attend to your wonders. They did not remember your great love; they defied the Most High at the Red Sea.	7 E li menò per la via diritta, affinchè giungessero alla città da abitare.
8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake to make his power known.	8 Diano lode al Signore le sue misericordie, e le meraviglie di lui in pro de' figliuoli degli uomini.
9 He roared at the Red Sea and it dried up. He led them through the deep as through a desert.	9 Perché egli ha saziata l'anima sitibonda, e l'anima famelica ha ricolma di beni.
10 He rescued them from hostile hands, freed them from the power of the enemy.	10 Sedevan nelle tenebre, e all'ombra di morte imprigionati, e mendichi, e nelle catene.
11 The waters covered their oppressors; not one of them survived.	11 Perché furon ribelli alle parole di Dio, e dispregiarono i disegui dell'Altissimo.
12 Then they believed his words and sang songs of praise.	12 E fa umiliato negli all'anni il loro onore: restarono senza forze, e non fu chi prestasse soccorso.
13 But they soon forgot all he had done; they had no patience for his plan.	13 E alzaron le grida, al Signore, mentre erano tribolati: e liberolli dalle loro necessità.
14 In the desert they gave way to their cravings, tempted God in the wasteland.	14 E li cavò dalle tenebre, e dall'ombra di morte, e spezzò le loro catene.
15 So he gave them what they asked and sent among them a wasting disease.	15 Lodino il Signore per le sue misericordie, e le sue meraviglie a prò de' figliuoli degli uomini.
16 In the camp they challenged Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.	16 Perché egli ha spezzate le porte di bronzo, e rotti i catenacci di ferro.
17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, it closed on the followers of Abiram.	17 Li sollevò dalla via della loro iniquità, dappoichè per le loro ingiustizie furono umiliati.
18 Against that company the fire blazed; flames consumed the wicked.	18 L'anima loro ebbe in aversione qualunque cibo: e si accostarono fino alle porte di morte.
19 At Horeb they fashioned a calf, worshiped a metal statue.	19 E alzaron le grida al Signore mentr'erano tribolati, e gli liberò dalle loro necessità.
20 They exchanged their glorious God for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 Mandò la sua Parola, e li risanò, e dalla loro perdizione li trasse.
21 They forgot the God who saved them, who did great deeds in Egypt,	21 Lodino il Signore per le sue misericordie, e le sue meraviglie a prò de' figliuoli degli uomini:
22 Amazing deeds in the land of Ham, fearsome deeds at the Red Sea.	22 E sagrifichino sagrifizio di laude, e celebrino con giubilo le opere di lui.
23 He would have decreed their destruction, had not Moses, the chosen leader, Withstood him in the breach to turn back his destroying anger.	23 Coloro, che solcano il mare sopra le navi, e nelle grandi acque lavorano.
24 Next they despised the beautiful land; they did not believe the promise.	24 Eglino han veduto le opere del Signore, e le meraviglie di lui nell'abisso.
25 In their tents they complained; they did not obey the LORD.	25 Alla parola di lui venne il vento portator di tempesta, e i flutti del mare si alzarono.
26 So with raised hand he swore to destroy them in the desert,	26 Salgono fino al cielo, e scendono fino all'abisso; l'anima loro si consumava di affanni.
27 To scatter their descendants among the nations, disperse them in foreign lands.	27 Erano sbigottiti, e si aggiravano come un ubbriaco: e tutta veniva meno la loro prudenza.
28 They joined in the rites of Baal of Peor, ate food sacrificed to dead gods.	28 E alzaron le grida al Signore mentr'erano nella tribolazione, e gli liberò dalle loro necessità.
29 They provoked him by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.	29 E la procella cambiò in aura leggera: e i flutti del mare si tacquero.
30 Then Phinehas rose to intervene, and the plague was brought to a halt.	30 Ed eglino si rallegrarono perché si tacquero i flutti: ed ei li condussero a quel porto. ch'ei pur bramavano.
31 This was counted for him as a righteous deed for all generations to come.	31 Lodino il Signore per le sue misericordie, e le sue meraviglie a prò de' figliuoli degli uomini.
32 At the waters of Meribah they angered God, and Moses suffered because of them.	32 E lui celebrino nell'adunanza del popolo: e nel consesso de' seniori a lui diano laude.
33 They so embittered his spirit that rash words crossed his lips.	33 Ei cangiò i fiumi in secchi deserti, e le sorgive dell'acque in terreni assetati:
34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,	34 La terra fruttifera cangiò in salsedine per la malizia de' suoi abitatori.
35 But mingled with the nations and imitated their ways.	35 I deserti mutò in istagni di acque, e alla terra arida diede sorgenti di acque.
36 They worshiped their idols and were ensnared by them.	36 E in essa collocò gli affamati, e vi fondarono città da abitarvi.
37 They sacrificed to the gods their own sons and daughters,	37 E seminaron campi, e piantaron viti, ed ebber frutti in copia nascenti.
38 Shedding innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed.	38 E li benedisse, e moltipllcarono grandemente, e accrebbe i loro bestiami.
39 They defiled themselves by their actions, became adulterers by their conduct.	39 Quantunque ei fosser ridotti a pochi, e fosser vessali da molti affanni, e dolori:
40 So the LORD grew angry with his people, abhorred his own heritage.	40 Il dispregio piovve sopra i potenti, ed ei li fè andare fuori di strada, e dove strada non, è.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their adversaries ruled them.	41 Ed egli sollevò il povero nella miseria, e fè le famiglie come greggi di pecore.
42 Their enemies oppressed them, kept them under subjection.	42 Queste cose le comprenderanno i giusti, e ne avranno allegrezza, e tutta l'iniquità si turerà la sua bocca.
43 Many times did he rescue them, but they kept rebelling and scheming and were brought low by their own guilt.	43 Chi è il saggio, che farà conserva di queste cose, e intenderà le misericordie del Signore?
44 Still God had regard for their affliction when he heard their wailing.
45 For their sake he remembered his covenant and relented in his abundant love,
46 Winning for them compassion from all who held them captive.
47 Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you.
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah!
