1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose love endures forever.	1 Alleluia.Rendete grazie al Signore, perché è buono,perché il suo amore è per sempre.
2 Who can tell the mighty deeds of the LORD, proclaim in full God's praise?	2 Chi può narrare le prodezze del Signore,far risuonare tutta la sua lode?
3 Happy those who do what is right, whose deeds are always just.	3 Beati coloro che osservano il dirittoe agiscono con giustizia in ogni tempo.
4 Remember me, LORD, as you favor your people; come to me with your saving help,	4 Ricòrdati di me, Signore, per amore del tuo popolo,visitami con la tua salvezza,
5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen, rejoice in the joy of your people, and glory with your heritage.	5 perché io veda il bene dei tuoi eletti,gioisca della gioia del tuo popolo,mi vanti della tua eredità.
6 We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong and are guilty.	6 Abbiamo peccato con i nostri padri,delitti e malvagità abbiamo commesso.
7 Our ancestors in Egypt did not attend to your wonders. They did not remember your great love; they defied the Most High at the Red Sea.	7 I nostri padri, in Egitto,non compresero le tue meraviglie,non si ricordarono della grandezza del tuo amoree si ribellarono presso il mare, presso il Mar Rosso.
8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake to make his power known.	8 Ma Dio li salvò per il suo nome,per far conoscere la sua potenza.
9 He roared at the Red Sea and it dried up. He led them through the deep as through a desert.	9 Minacciò il Mar Rosso e fu prosciugato,li fece camminare negli abissi come nel deserto.
10 He rescued them from hostile hands, freed them from the power of the enemy.	10 Li salvò dalla mano di chi li odiava,li riscattò dalla mano del nemico.
11 The waters covered their oppressors; not one of them survived.	11 L’acqua sommerse i loro avversari,non ne sopravvisse neppure uno.
12 Then they believed his words and sang songs of praise.	12 Allora credettero alle sue parolee cantarono la sua lode.
13 But they soon forgot all he had done; they had no patience for his plan.	13 Presto dimenticarono le sue opere,non ebbero fiducia nel suo progetto,
14 In the desert they gave way to their cravings, tempted God in the wasteland.	14 arsero di desiderio nel desertoe tentarono Dio nella steppa.
15 So he gave them what they asked and sent among them a wasting disease.	15 Concesse loro quanto chiedevanoe li saziò fino alla nausea.
16 In the camp they challenged Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.	16 Divennero gelosi di Mosè nell’accampamentoe di Aronne, il consacrato del Signore.
17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, it closed on the followers of Abiram.	17 Allora si spalancò la terra e inghiottì Datane ricoprì la gente di Abiràm.
18 Against that company the fire blazed; flames consumed the wicked.	18 Un fuoco divorò quella gentee una fiamma consumò quei malvagi.
19 At Horeb they fashioned a calf, worshiped a metal statue.	19 Si fabbricarono un vitello sull’Oreb,si prostrarono a una statua di metallo;
20 They exchanged their glorious God for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 scambiarono la loro gloriacon la figura di un toro che mangia erba.
21 They forgot the God who saved them, who did great deeds in Egypt,	21 Dimenticarono Dio che li aveva salvati,che aveva operato in Egitto cose grandi,
22 Amazing deeds in the land of Ham, fearsome deeds at the Red Sea.	22 meraviglie nella terra di Cam,cose terribili presso il Mar Rosso.
23 He would have decreed their destruction, had not Moses, the chosen leader, Withstood him in the breach to turn back his destroying anger.	23 Ed egli li avrebbe sterminati,se Mosè, il suo eletto,non si fosse posto sulla breccia davanti a luiper impedire alla sua collera di distruggerli.
24 Next they despised the beautiful land; they did not believe the promise.	24 Rifiutarono una terra di delizie,non credettero alla sua parola.
25 In their tents they complained; they did not obey the LORD.	25 Mormorarono nelle loro tende,non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.
26 So with raised hand he swore to destroy them in the desert,	26 Allora egli alzò la mano contro di loro,giurando di abbatterli nel deserto,
27 To scatter their descendants among the nations, disperse them in foreign lands.	27 di disperdere la loro discendenza tra le nazionie disseminarli nelle loro terre.
28 They joined in the rites of Baal of Peor, ate food sacrificed to dead gods.	28 Adorarono Baal-Peore mangiarono i sacrifici dei morti.
29 They provoked him by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.	29 Lo provocarono con tali azioni,e tra loro scoppiò la peste.
30 Then Phinehas rose to intervene, and the plague was brought to a halt.	30 Ma Fineès si alzò per fare giustizia:allora la peste cessò.
31 This was counted for him as a righteous deed for all generations to come.	31 Ciò fu considerato per lui un atto di giustiziadi generazione in generazione, per sempre.
32 At the waters of Meribah they angered God, and Moses suffered because of them.	32 Lo irritarono anche alle acque di Merìbae Mosè fu punito per causa loro:
33 They so embittered his spirit that rash words crossed his lips.	33 poiché avevano amareggiato il suo spiritoed egli aveva parlato senza riflettere.
34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,	34 Non sterminarono i popolicome aveva ordinato il Signore,
35 But mingled with the nations and imitated their ways.	35 ma si mescolarono con le gentie impararono ad agire come loro.
36 They worshiped their idols and were ensnared by them.	36 Servirono i loro idolie questi furono per loro un tranello.
37 They sacrificed to the gods their own sons and daughters,	37 Immolarono i loro figlie le loro figlie ai falsi dèi.
38 Shedding innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed.	38 Versarono sangue innocente,il sangue dei loro figli e delle loro figlie,sacrificàti agli idoli di Canaan,e la terra fu profanata dal sangue.
39 They defiled themselves by their actions, became adulterers by their conduct.	39 Si contaminarono con le loro opere,si prostituirono con le loro azioni.
40 So the LORD grew angry with his people, abhorred his own heritage.	40 L’ira del Signore si accese contro il suo popoloed egli ebbe in orrore la sua eredità.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their adversaries ruled them.	41 Li consegnò in mano alle genti,li dominarono quelli che li odiavano.
42 Their enemies oppressed them, kept them under subjection.	42 Li oppressero i loro nemici:essi dovettero piegarsi sotto la loro mano.
43 Many times did he rescue them, but they kept rebelling and scheming and were brought low by their own guilt.	43 Molte volte li aveva liberati,eppure si ostinarono nei loro progettie furono abbattuti per le loro colpe;
44 Still God had regard for their affliction when he heard their wailing.	44 ma egli vide la loro angustia,quando udì il loro grido.
45 For their sake he remembered his covenant and relented in his abundant love,	45 Si ricordò della sua alleanza con loroe si mosse a compassione, per il suo grande amore.
46 Winning for them compassion from all who held them captive.	46 Li affidò alla misericordiadi quelli che li avevano deportati.
47 Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you.	47 Salvaci, Signore Dio nostro,radunaci dalle genti,perché ringraziamo il tuo nome santo:lodarti sarà la nostra gloria.
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah!	48 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d’Israele,da sempre e per sempre.Tutto il popolo dica: Amen.Alleluia.
