1 Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, who is good, whose love endures forever.	1 Celebrate il Signore, perchè figli è buono, perchè la sua misericordia dura in eterno.
2 Who can tell the mighty deeds of the LORD, proclaim in full God's praise?	2 Lo dicano i redenti dal Signore, quelli che ha liberati dal potere del nemico, ha radunati da tutti i paesi:
3 Happy those who do what is right, whose deeds are always just.	3 Dall'oriente e dall'occidente, dal settentrione e dal mare.
4 Remember me, LORD, as you favor your people; come to me with your saving help,	4 Andavan errando pel deserto, in aride lande, senza trovar la via di una città da abitare.
5 That I may see the prosperity of your chosen, rejoice in the joy of your people, and glory with your heritage.	5 Affamati ed assetati, si sentivan venire meno gli spiriti.
6 We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong and are guilty.	6 Nella tribolazione gridarono al Signore, e li liberò dalle loro angustie.
7 Our ancestors in Egypt did not attend to your wonders. They did not remember your great love; they defied the Most High at the Red Sea.	7 E li menò per la diritta via, in modo che giungessero a città da abitare.
8 Yet he saved them for his name's sake to make his power known.	8 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie o le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.
9 He roared at the Red Sea and it dried up. He led them through the deep as through a desert.	9 Perchè Egli ha ripiena a sazietà l'anima vuota, e l'anima famelica l'ha saziata di beni.
10 He rescued them from hostile hands, freed them from the power of the enemy.	10 Sedevan nelle tenebre e nell'ombra di morte, prigionieri nella miseria e nelle catene;
11 The waters covered their oppressors; not one of them survived.	11 Perchè s'eran ribellati alle parole di Dio ed avevan disprezzati i consigli dell'Altissimo.
12 Then they believed his words and sang songs of praise.	12 E fu umiliato negli affanni il loro cuore, rimasero senza forze, e non v'era chi li aiutasse.
13 But they soon forgot all he had done; they had no patience for his plan.	13 Nella tribolazione gridarono al Signore, e li liberò dalle loro angustie.
14 In the desert they gave way to their cravings, tempted God in the wasteland.	14 Li cavò dalle tenebre e dalle ombre di morte, e ne spezzò le catene.
15 So he gave them what they asked and sent among them a wasting disease.	15 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie e le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.
16 In the camp they challenged Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD.	16 Spezzò le porte di bronzo, infranse le sbarre di ferro.
17 The earth opened and swallowed Dathan, it closed on the followers of Abiram.	17 Li sollevò dalla via delle loro iniquità: erano stati umiliati per o le loro ingiustizie.
18 Against that company the fire blazed; flames consumed the wicked.	18 Ogni cibo dava toro nausea, toccavan già le soglie della morte.

22 Amazing deeds in the land of Ham, fearsome deeds at the Red Sea.	22 Offrano un sacrifizio di lode e celebrino giubilando le sue opere.
23 He would have decreed their destruction, had not Moses, the chosen leader, Withstood him in the breach to turn back his destroying anger.	23 Coloro che solcano sopra navi il mare e van trafficando sopra le vaste onde,
24 Next they despised the beautiful land; they did not believe the promise.	24 Essi videro le opere del Signore, le sue maraviglie negli abissi.
25 In their tents they complained; they did not obey the LORD.	25 Alla sua parola si levò il vento della tempesta, e ne furono sollevati i flutti del mare.
26 So with raised hand he swore to destroy them in the desert,	26 Sai ivano fino al cielo si sprofondavano fino all'abisso; la loro anima si struggeva nel pericolo.
27 To scatter their descendants among the nations, disperse them in foreign lands.	27 Erano sbigottiti e barcollavano come briachi, tutto il loro sapere era ridotto al niente.
28 They joined in the rites of Baal of Peor, ate food sacrificed to dead gods.	28 Nella tribolazione gridarono al Signore, e li liberò dalle loro angustie.
29 They provoked him by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.	29 Mutò la tempesta in aura leggera, e i flutti del mare si tacquero:
30 Then Phinehas rose to intervene, and the plague was brought to a halt.	30 Si rallegrarono della loro calma, ed Egli li condusse al porto da loro bramato.
31 This was counted for him as a righteous deed for all generations to come.	31 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie e le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.
32 At the waters of Meribah they angered God, and Moses suffered because of them.	32 Lo esaltino nell'assemblea del popolo, lo lodino nel consesso degli anziani.
33 They so embittered his spirit that rash words crossed his lips.	33 Egli ridusse i fiumi a deserti, le sorgenti d'acqua in arida landa;
34 They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,	34 La terra fertile in campo di sale, per la malizia di chi vi abitava.
35 But mingled with the nations and imitated their ways.	35 Mutò i deserti in laghi, la terra arida in sorgenti d'acqua.
36 They worshiped their idols and were ensnared by them.	36 E vi collocò gli affamati, che vi fondarono città da abitare.
37 They sacrificed to the gods their own sons and daughters,	37 Seminaron campi e piantarono vigne e ne ebbero frutti copiosi.
38 Shedding innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, desecrating the land with bloodshed.	38 Egli li benedisse, e moltiplicarono grandemente, e non la sciò diminuire i loro bestiami.
39 They defiled themselves by their actions, became adulterers by their conduct.	39 Sono stati ridotti a pochi, depressi dallo strazio del male e dal dolore.
40 So the LORD grew angry with his people, abhorred his own heritage.	40 Il disprezzo era gettato sopra i capi: li aveva fatti errare per un deserto senza via.
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their adversaries ruled them.	41 Ma Egli rialzò il povero dalla miseria, e ne moltiplicò le famiglie come greggi.
42 Their enemies oppressed them, kept them under subjection.	42 Ciò vedranno i giusti e se ne rallegreranno, ed ogni iniquità chiuderà la sua bocca.
43 Many times did he rescue them, but they kept rebelling and scheming and were brought low by their own guilt.	43 Chi da sapiente terrà a mente queste cose e considererà le misericordie del Signore?
44 Still God had regard for their affliction when he heard their wailing.
45 For their sake he remembered his covenant and relented in his abundant love,
46 Winning for them compassion from all who held them captive.
47 Save us, LORD, our God; gather us from among the nations That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you.
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Let all the people say, Amen! Hallelujah!
