SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Senhor, Deus justiceiro, Deus das vinganças, aparecei em vosso esplendor.	1 God of vengeance, Yahweh, God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Levantai-vos, juiz da terra, castigai os soberbos como eles merecem.	2 Arise, judge of the world, give back the proud what they deserve!
3 Até quando, Senhor, triunfarão os ímpios?	3 How long are the wicked, Yahweh, how long are the wicked to triumph?
4 Até quando se desmandarão em discursos arrogantes, e jactanciosos estarão esses obreiros do mal?	4 They bluster and boast, they flaunt themselves, all the evil-doers.
5 Eles esmagam o povo, Senhor, e oprimem vossa herança.	5 They crush your people, Yahweh, they oppress your heritage,
6 Trucidam a viúva e o estrangeiro, tiram a vida aos órfãos.	6 they murder the widow and the stranger, bring the orphan to a violent death.
7 E dizem: O Senhor não vê, o Deus de Jacó não presta atenção nisso!	7 They say, 'Yahweh is not looking, the God of Jacob is taking no notice.'
8 Tratai de compreender, ó gente estulta. Insensatos, quando cobrareis juízo?	8 Take notice yourselves, you coarsest of people! Fools, when wil you learn some sense?
9 Pois não ouvirá quem fez o ouvido? O que formou o olho não verá?	9 Shal he who implanted the ear not hear, he who fashioned the eye not see?
10 Aquele que dá lições aos povos não há de punir, ele que ensina ao homem o saber...	10 Shal he who instructs nations not punish? Yahweh, the teacher of al people,
11 O Senhor conhece os pensamentos dos homens, e sabe que são vãos.	11 knows human plans and how insipid they are.
12 Feliz o homem a quem ensinais, Senhor, e instruís em vossa lei,	12 How blessed are those you instruct, Yahweh, whom you teach by means of your law,
13 para lhe dar a paz no dia do infortúnio, enquanto uma cova se abre para o ímpio,	13 to give them respite in evil times, til a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 porque o Senhor não rejeitará o seu povo, e não há de abandonar a sua herança.	14 Yahweh will not abandon his people, he wil not desert his heritage;
15 Mas o julgamento com justiça se fará, e a seguirão os retos de coração.	15 for judgement will again become saving justice, and in its wake al upright hearts will fol ow.
16 Quem se erguerá por mim contra os malfeitores? Quem será meu defensor contra os artesãos do mal?	16 Who rises up on my side against the wicked? Who stands firm on my side against al evil-doers?
17 Se o Senhor não me socorresse, em breve a minha alma habitaria a região do silêncio.	17 If Yahweh did not come to my help, I should soon find myself dwel ing in the silence.
18 Quando penso: Vacilam-me os pés, sustenta-me, Senhor, a vossa graça.	18 I need only say, 'I am slipping,' for your faithful love, Yahweh, to support me;
19 Quando em meu coração se multiplicam as angústias, vossas consolações alegram a minha alma.	19 however great the anxiety of my heart, your consolations soothe me.
20 Acaso poderá aliar-se a vós um tribunal iníquo, que pratica vexames sob a aparência de lei?	20 Are you partner to a destructive court, that gives disorder the status of law?
21 Atentam contra a alma do justo, e condenam o sangue inocente.	21 They make an attack on the life of the upright, and condemn innocent blood.
22 Mas o Senhor certamente será o meu refúgio, e meu Deus o rochedo em que me abrigo.	22 No! Yahweh is a stronghold to me, my God is my rock of refuge.
23 Ele fará recair sobre eles suas próprias maldades, ele os fará perecer por sua própria malícia. O Senhor, nosso Deus, os destruirá.	23 He turns back their guilt on themselves, annihilates them for their wickedness, he annihilates them,Yahweh our God.
