Mare etiam fusile decem cubitis a labio usque ad labium rotundum per circuitum; quinque cubitos habebat altitudinis, et funiculus triginta cubitorum ambiebat gyrum eius.2 He made the Sea of cast metal, ten cubits from rim to rim, circular in shape and five cubits high; a cordthirty cubits long gave the measurement of its girth.
Similitudo quoque boum erat subter illud, in circuitu circumdabant illud — decem cubitis — duobus versibus alvum maris circuibant boves fusiles in una fusione cum mari.3 Under it and completely encircling it were things like oxen, ten to the cubit round the entire Sea; theoxen were in two rows, of one and the same casting with the rest.
Et ipsum mare super duodecim boves impositum erat, quorum tres respiciebant aquilonem et alii tres occidentem, porro tres alii meridiem et tres, qui reliqui erant, orientem habentes mare superpositum; posteriora autem boum erant intrinsecus sub mari.4 It rested on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, three facing east; onthese, their hindquarters al turned inwards, stood the Sea.
Porro vastitas eius habebat mensuram palmi, et labium illius erat quasi labium calicis vel repandi lilii; capiebatque tria milia batos.
It was a hand's breadth in thickness, and its rim was shaped like the rim of a cup-lily-shaped. It couldhold three thousand bat.
Fecit quoque luteres decem et posuit quinque a dextris et quinque a sinistris, ut lavarent in eis omnia, quae in holocaustum oblaturi erant; porro in mari sacerdotes lavabantur.
He made ten basins, putting five on the right and five on the left, for washing in; the things to be offeredas burnt offerings were to be rinsed in these, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in.
Fecit autem et candelabra aurea decem secundum speciem, qua iussa erant fieri, et posuit ea in templo quinque a dextris et quinque a sinistris.7 He made the ten golden lamp-stands according to the pattern and placed them in the Hekal, five on theright and five on the left.
Necnon et mensas decem, et posuit eas in templo quinque a dextris et quinque a sinistris; phialas quoque aureas centum.
He made ten tables which he set up in the Hekal, five on the right and five on the left. He also made ahundred golden sprinkling bowls.
Fecit etiam atrium sacerdotum et atrium grande et ostia in atrio, quae texit aere.9 He made the court of the priests and the great court with its gates and plated the gates with bronze.
Porro mare posuit in latere dextro contra orientem ad meridiem.
The Sea he placed on the right-hand side of the Temple, to the south-east.
Fecit autem Hiram lebetes et vatilla et phialas et complevit omne opus regis Salomonis in domo Dei;11 Huram made the ash containers, the scoops and the sprinkling bowls. Thus Huram completed al thework done for King Solomon for the Temple of God:
hoc est columnas duas et globos et capitella super caput columnarum duarum et serta duo, quae tegerent globos capitellorum;12 the two pillars; the mouldings of the capitals surmounting the two pil ars; the two sets of filigree tocover the two mouldings of the capitals surmounting the pil ars;
malogranata quoque quadringenta et serta duo, ita ut bini ordines malogranatorum singulis sertis iungerentur, quae protegerent globos capitellorum columnarum.13 the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of filigree -- two rows of pomegranates for each set offiligree;
