1 Nel mio letticciuolo le notti lui cercai, che è l'amore dell'anima mia, lo cercai, e nol trovai.	1 Bride: "On my bed, throughout the night, I sought him whom my soul loves. I sought him, and did not find him."
2 Mi alzerò, e anderò attorno per la città, per le contrade e per le piazze cercherò di lui, che è l'amore dell'anima mia. Lo cercai, e nol trovai.	2 "I will rise up, and I will circle through the city. Through the side streets and thoroughfares, I will seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, and did not find him."
3 Mi trovarono le sentinelle, che stanno a guardia della città. Avreste mai veduto colui, che è l'amore dell'anima mia?	3 "The watchers who guard the city found me: “Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”"
4 Quand' io le ebbi oltrepassate di poco, trovai l'amor dell'anima mia: lo presi, e nol lascerò fino a tanto che io lo abbia introdotto nella casa di mia madre, e nella camera di lei, che mi generò.	4 "When I had passed by them a little, I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not release him, until I would bring him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her who bore me."
5 Io vi scongiuro, o figliuole di Gerusalemme, pe' caprioli, e pe' cervi de' campi, che non rompiate il sonno della Diletta, e non la facciate svegliare fino a tanto, che ella il voglia.	5 Groom to Chorus: "I bind you by oath, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the does and the stags of the open field, not to disturb or awaken the beloved, until she wills."
6 Chi è costei, che ascende per il deserto quasi piccola colonna di fumo dagli aromati di mirra, e d'incenso e di ogni polvere di profumiere?	6 Chorus to Groom: "Who is she, who ascends through the desert, like a staff of smoke from the aromatics of myrrh, and frankincense, and every powder of the perfumer?"
7 Ecco, che attorno al letto di Salomone stanno sessanta guerrieri dei più forti d'Israelle:	7 Chorus to Bride: "Lo, sixty strong ones, out of all the strongest in Israel, stand watch at the bed of Solomon,"
8 Tutti hanno la spada, e sono spertissimi nella guerra: ognuno ha al suo fianco la spada pei notturni timori.	8 "all holding swords and well-trained in warfare, each one’s weapon upon his thigh, because of fears in the night."
9 Il re Salomone si fece un cocchio di legno del Libano;	9 Bride to Chorus: "King Solomon made himself a portable throne from the wood of Lebanon."
10 Gli fece le colonne d'argento, il dosso di oro, il conopeo di porpora: le parti di mezzo di care cose ricoperse per amore delle figlie di Gerusalemme.	10 "He made its columns of silver, the reclining place of gold, the ascent of purple; the middle he covered well, out of charity for the daughters of Jerusalem."
11 Uscite fuora, e mirate o figlie di Sion, il re Salomone col diadema, con cui lo incoronò la madre sua nel giorno dello sposalizio di lui, e nel giorno della letizia del cuor suo.	11 "O daughters of Zion, go forth and see king Solomon with the diadem with which his mother crowned him, on the day of his espousal, on the day of the rejoicing of his heart."
