1 Salmo di Asaph. Quanto è mai buono Iddio con Israele; con quelli, che son di cuor retto!	1 A Psalm of Solomon. Give the king thy justice, O God, and thy righteousness to the royal son!
2 Ma poco mancò, che i miei piedi non vacillassero, e che non uscisser di strada i miei passi.	2 May he judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with justice!
3 Perché io fui punto da zelo verso gli iniqui, in osservando la pace de' peccatori:	3 Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness!
4 Perché non pensano alla loro morte, e non son di durata le loro piaghe.	4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor!
5 Non hanno parte alle afflizioni degli uomini, e con gli uomini non son flagellati.	5 May he live while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations!
6 Per questo la superbia li prese: son ricoperti della loro iniquità, ad empietà.	6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth!
7 Dalla grassezza in certo modo scaturì la loro iniquità: si sono abbandonati agli affetti del loro cuore.	7 In his days may righteousness flourish, and peace abound, till the moon be no more!
8 Pensano, e parlano malvagità: da luogo sublime ragionano di far del male.	8 May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!
9 Han messa in cielo la loro bocca: e la loro lingua va scorrendo la terra.	9 May his foes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust!
10 Per questo il popolo mio a tali cose si rivolge: e giorni trova di piena afflizione.	10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles render him tribute, may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts!
11 E hanno detto: Come mai Iddio sa questo? e l'Altissimo ne ha egli notizia?	11 May all kings fall down before him, all nations serve him!
12 Ecco che i peccatori medesimi, e i fortunati del secolo han raunate ricchezze.	12 For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.
13 E io dissi; Senza motivo adunque purificai il mio cuore, e lavai le mani mie cogli innocenti:	13 He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy.
14 E fui tutto dì flagellato, e fui sotto la sferza di gran mattino.	14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life; and precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Se io pensassi di ragionare così: ecco che io condannerei la nazione de' tuoi figliuoli.	15 Long may he live, may gold of Sheba be given to him! May prayer be made for him continually, and blessings invoked for him all the day!
16 Mi studiava di intender questo: cosa laboriosa è questa, che mi si pone davanti:	16 May there be abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountains may it wave; may its fruit be like Lebanon; and may men blossom forth from the cities like the grass of the field!
17 Per sino a tanto ch'io entri nel santuario di Dio, e intenda qual sia la fine di coloro.	17 May his name endure for ever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May men bless themselves by him, all nations call him blessed!
18 Peraltro in ingannevole felicità gli hai posti: tu gli hai gettati a terra nell'atto, che si levavano in alto.	18 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.
19 Come mai son eglino ridotti in desolazione; son venuti meno a un tratta; sono andati in perdizione per la loro iniquità.	19 Blessed be his glorious name for ever; may his glory fill the whole earth! Amen and Amen!
20 Come il sogno di un che si sveglia, cosi tu nella tua città, o Signore, ridurrai nel nulla l'immagine di costoro.	20 The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.
21 Ma perché il mio cuore fu in tormento, ed ebber tortura gli affetti miei, ed io fui annichilato senza sapere il perché;
22 E fui qual giumento dinanzi a te, e mi tenni sempre con te;
23 Mi prendesti per la mia destra, e secondo la volontà tua mi conducesti, e con onore mi accogliesti.
24 Imperocché qual cosa havvi mai per me nel cielo, e che volli io da te sopra la terra?
25 La carne mia, e il mio cuore vien meno, o Dio del mio cuore, e mia porzione, o Dio, nell'eternità.
26 Imperocché ecco che coloro, che da te si allontanano, periranno: tu manderai in perdizione tutti coloro, che a te rompon la fede.
27 Ma per me buona cosa ell'è lo star unito con Dio: il porre in Dio Signore la mia speranza:
28 Affinchè tutte le tue laudi io annunzi alle porte della figliuola di Sion.
