Lettera agli Efesini 6

1 Figli, obbedite ai vostri genitori nel Signore, perché questo è giusto.	1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is just.
2 'Onora tuo padre e tua madre': è questo il primo comandamento associato a una promessa:	2 Honor your father and your mother. This is the first commandment with a promise:
3 'perché tu sia felice e goda di una vita lunga sopra la terra'.	3 so that it may be well with you, and so that you may have a long life upon the earth.
4 E voi, padri, non inasprite i vostri figli, ma allevateli nell'educazione e nella disciplina del Signore.	4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but educate them with the discipline and correction of the Lord.
5 Schiavi, obbedite ai vostri padroni secondo la carne con timore e tremore, con semplicità di spirito, come a Cristo,	5 Servants, be obedient to your lords according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the simplicity of your heart, as to Christ.
6 e non servendo per essere visti, come per piacere agli uomini, ma come servi di Cristo, compiendo la volontà di Dio di cuore,	6 Do not serve only when seen, as if to please men, but act as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
7 prestando servizio di buona voglia come al Signore e non come a uomini.	7 Serve with good will, as to the Lord, and not to men.
8 Voi sapete infatti che ciascuno, sia schiavo sia libero, riceverà dal Signore secondo quello che avrà fatto di bene.	8 For you know that whatever good each one will do, the same will he receive from the Lord, whether he is servant or free.
9 Anche voi, padroni, comportatevi allo stesso modo verso di loro, mettendo da parte le minacce, sapendo che per loro come per voi c'è un solo Signore nel cielo, e che non v'è preferenza di persone presso di lui.	9 And you, lords, act similarly toward them, setting aside threats, knowing that the Lord of both you and them is in heaven. For with him there is no favoritism toward anyone.
10 Per il resto, attingete forza nel Signore e nel vigore della sua potenza.	10 Concerning the rest, brothers, be strengthened in the Lord, by the power of his virtue.
11 Rivestitevi dell'armatura di Dio, per poter resistere alle insidie del diavolo.	11 Be clothed in the armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the treachery of the devil.
12 La nostra battaglia infatti non è contro creature fatte di sangue e di carne, ma contro i Principati e le Potestà, contro i dominatori di questo mondo di tenebra, contro gli spiriti del male che abitano nelle regioni celesti.	12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the directors of this world of darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in high places.
13 Prendete perciò l'armatura di Dio, perché possiate resistere nel giorno malvagio e restare in piedi dopo aver superato tutte le prove.	13 Because of this, take up the armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand the evil day and remain perfect in all things.
14 State dunque ben fermi, 'cinti i fianchi con la verità, rivestiti con la corazza della giustizia',	14 Therefore, stand firm, having been girded about your waist with truth, and having been clothed with the breastplate of justice,
15 e avendo come calzatura 'ai piedi lo zelo per propagare il vangelo della pace'.	15 and having feet which have been shod by the preparation of the Gospel of peace.
16 Tenete sempre in mano lo scudo della fede, con il quale potrete spegnere tutti i dardi infuocati del maligno;	16 In all things, take up the shield of faith, with which you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one.
17 prendete anche 'l'elmo della salvezza' e 'la spada dello Spirito', cioè la 'parola di Dio'.	17 And take up the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God).
18 Pregate inoltre incessantemente con ogni sorta di preghiere e di suppliche nello Spirito, vigilando a questo scopo con ogni perseveranza e pregando per tutti i santi,	18 Through every kind of prayer and supplication, pray at all times in spirit, and so be vigilant with every kind of earnest supplication, for all the saints,
19 e anche per me, perché quando apro la bocca mi sia data una parola franca, per far conoscere il mistero del vangelo,	19 and also for me, so that words may be given to me, as I open my mouth with faith to make known the mystery of the Gospel,
20 del quale sono ambasciatore in catene, e io possa annunziarlo con franchezza come è mio dovere.	20 in such a manner that I may dare to speak exactly as I ought to speak. For I act as an ambassador in chains for the Gospel.
21 Desidero che anche voi sappiate come sto e ciò che faccio; di tutto vi informerà Tìchico, fratello carissimo e fedele ministro nel Signore.	21 Now, so that you also may know the things that concern me and what I am doing, Tychicus, a most beloved brother and a faithful minister in the Lord, will make known everything to you.
22 Ve lo mando proprio allo scopo di farvi conoscere mie notizie e per confortare i vostri cuori.	22 I have sent him to you for this very reason, so that you may know the things that concern us, and so that he may console your hearts.
23 Pace ai fratelli, e carità e fede da parte di Dio Padre e del Signore Gesù Cristo.	23 Peace to the brothers, and charity with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 La grazia sia con tutti quelli che amano il Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, con amore incorruttibile.	24 May grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ, unto incorruption. Amen.
