1 ¿Cuál es, pues, la ventaja del judío? ¿Cuál la utilidad de la circuncisión?	1 So then, what more is the Jew, or what is the usefulness of circumcision?
2 Grande, de todas maneras. Ante todo, a ellos les fueron confiados los oráculos de Dios.	2 Much in every way: First of all, certainly, because the eloquence of God was entrusted to them.
3 Pues ¿qué? Si algunos de ellos fueron infieles ¿frustrará, por ventura, su infidelidad la fidelidad de Dios?	3 But what if some of them have not believed? Shall their unbelief nullify the faith of God? Let it not be so!
4 ¡De ningún modo! Dios tiene que ser veraz y todo hombre mentiroso, como dice la Escritura: Para que seas justificado en tus palabras y triunfes al ser juzgado.	4 For God is truthful, but every man is deceitful; just as it was written: “Therefore, you are justified in your words, and you will prevail when you give judgment.”
5 Pero si nuestra injusticia realza la justicia de Dios, ¿qué diremos? ¿Será acaso injusto Dios al descargar su cólera? (Hablo en términos humanos.)	5 But if even our injustice points to the justice of God, what shall we say? Could God be unfair for inflicting wrath?
6 ¡De ningún modo! Si no, ¿cómo juzgará Dios al mundo?	6 (I am speaking in human terms.) Let it not be so! Otherwise, how would God judge this world?
7 Pero si con mi mentira sale ganando la verdad de Dios para gloria suya ¿por qué razón soy también yo todavía juzgado como pecador?	7 For if the truth of God has abounded, through my falseness, unto his glory, why should I still be judged as such a sinner?
8 Y ¿por qué no hacer el mal para que venga el bien, como algunos calumniosamente nos acusan que decimos? Esos tales tienen merecida su condenación.	8 And should we not do evil, so that good may result? For so we have been slandered, and so some have claimed we said; their condemnation is just.
9 Entonces ¿qué? ¿Llevamos ventaja? ¡De ningún modo!	9 What is next? Should we try to excel ahead of them? By no means! For we have accused all Jews and Greeks to be under sin,
10 Pues ya demostramos que tanto judíos como griegos están bajo el pecado, como dice la Escritura: No hay quien sea justo, ni siquiera uno solo.	10 just as it was written: “There is no one who is just.
11 No hay un sensato, no hay quien busque a Dios.	11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks God.
12 Todos se desviaron, a una se corrompieron; no hay quien obre el bien, no hay siquiera uno.	12 All have gone astray; together they have become useless. There is no one who does good; there is not even one.
13 Sepulcro abierto es su garganta, con su lengua urden engaños. Veneno de áspides bajo sus labios;	13 Their throat is an open sepulcher. With their tongues, they have been acting deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips.
14 maldición y amargura rebosa su boca.	14 Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.
15 Ligeros sus pies para derramar sangre;	15 Their feet are swift to shed blood.
16 ruina y miseria son sus caminos.	16 Grief and unhappiness are in their ways.
17 El camino de la paz no lo conocieron,	17 And the way of peace they have not known.
18 no hay temor de Dios ante sus ojos.	18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Ahora bien, sabemos que cuanto dice la ley lo dice para los que están bajo la ley, para que toda boca enmudezca y el mundo entero se reconozca reo ante Dios,	19 But we know that whatever the law speaks, it speaks to those who are in the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the entire world may be subject to God.
20 ya que nadie será justificado ante él por las obras de la ley, pues la ley no da sino el conocimiento del pecado.	20 For in his presence no flesh shall be justified by the works of the law. For knowledge of sin is through the law.
21 Pero ahora, independientemente de la ley, la justicia de Dios se ha manifestado, atestiguada por la ley y los profetas,	21 But now, without the law, the justice of God, to which the law and the prophets have testified, has been made manifest.
22 justicia de Dios por la fe en Jesucristo, para todos los que creen - pues no hay diferencia alguna;	22 And the justice of God, though the faith of Jesus Christ, is in all those and over all those who believe in him. For there is no distinction.
23 todos pecaron y están privados de la gloria de Dios -	23 For all have sinned and all are in need of the glory of God.
24 y son justificados por el don de su gracia, en virtud de la redención realizada en Cristo Jesús,	24 We have been justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
25 a quien exhibió Dios como instrumento de propiciación por su propia sangre, mediante la fe, para mostrar su justicia, habiendo pasado por alto los pecados cometidos anteriormente,	25 whom God has offered as a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to reveal his justice for the remission of the former offenses,
26 en el tiempo de la paciencia de Dios; en orden a mostrar su justicia en el tiempo presente, para ser él justo y justificador del que cree en Jesús.	26 and by the forbearance of God, to reveal his justice in this time, so that he himself might be both the Just One and the Justifier of anyone who is of the faith of Jesus Christ.
27 ¿Dónde está, entonces, el derecho a gloriarse? Queda eliminado.!? Por qué ley? ¿Por la de las obras? No. Por la ley de la fe.	27 So then, where is your self-exaltation? It is excluded. Through what law? That of works? No, but rather through the law of faith.
28 Porque pensamos que el hombre es justificado por la fe, sin las obras de la ley.	28 For we judge a man to be justified by faith, without the works of the law.
29 ¿Acaso Dios lo es únicamente de los judíos y no también de los gentiles? ¡Sí, por cierto!, también de los gentiles;	29 Is God of the Jews only and not also of the Gentiles? On the contrary, of the Gentiles also.
30 porque no hay más que un solo Dios, que justificará a los circuncisos en virtud de la fe y a los incircuncisos por medio de la fe.	30 For One is the God who justifies circumcision by faith and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Entonces ¿por la fe privamos a la ley de su valor? ¡De ningún modo! Más bien, la consolidamos.	31 Are we then destroying the law through faith? Let it not be so! Instead, we are making the law stand.
