2 Hablad a los israelitas y decidles: De entre todos los animales terrestres podréis comer estos: | 2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Of al animals living on land these are the creatures you may eat: |
3 cualquier animal de pezuña partida, hendida en mitades y que rumia, sí lo podréis comer. | 3 "You may eat any animal that has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, and that is a ruminant. |
4 Pero entre los que rumian o tienen pezuña hendida, no comeréis: camello, pues aunque rumia, no tiene partida la pezuña; será impuro para vosotros; | 4 The fol owing, which either chew the cud or have a cloven hoof, are the ones that you may not eat: youwil regard the camel as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof; |
5 ni damán, porque rumia, pero no tiene partida la pezuña; será impuro para vosotros: | 5 you wil regard the coney as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof; |
6 ni liebre porque rumia, pero no tiene la pezuña partida; será impura para vosotros; | 6 you wil regard the hare as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof; |
7 ni cerdo, pues aunque tiene la pezuña partida, hendida en mitades, no rumia; será impuro para vosotros. | 7 you wil regard the pig as unclean, because though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is nota ruminant. |
8 No comeréis su carne ni tocaréis sus cadáveres; serán impuros para vosotros. | 8 You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you wil regard them as unclean. |
9 De entre todos los animales que viven en las aguas, podréis comer éstos: cuantos tienen aletas y escamas sean de mar o río, los podréis comer. | 9 "Of al that lives in water, these you may eat: "Anything that has fins and scales, and lives in the water, whether in sea or river, you may eat. |
10 Pero serán cosa abominable para vosotros todos los que carezcan de aletas y escamas, entre todos los que bullen en las aguas, en mares y ríos, y entre todos los demás animales que viven en el agua. | 10 But anything in sea or river that does not have fins and scales, of al the smal water-creatures and althe living things found there, you wil regard as detestable. |
11 Serán abominables para vosotros: no comeréis su carne y tendréis sus cadáveres como abominables. | 11 You wil regard them as detestable; you must not eat their meat and you wil regard their carcases asdetestable. |
12 Tendréis por abominable todo cuanto en las aguas carece de aletas y escamas. | 12 Anything that lives in water, but not having fins and scales, you wil regard as detestable. |
13 Las siguientes de entre las aves tendréis por inmundas, y no podrán comer por ser abominación: el águila, el quebrantahuesos, el águila marina, | 13 "Of the birds these are the ones that you wil regard as detestable; they may not be eaten, they aredetestable for eating: "The tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey, |
14 el buitre, el halcón en todas sus especies, | 14 the kite, the various kinds of buzzard, |
15 toda clase de cuervos, | 15 all kinds of raven, |
16 el avestruz, la lechuza, la gaviota, el gavilán en todas sus especies, | 16 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the various kinds of hawk, |
17 el búho, el somormujo, el ibis, | 17 horned owl, night owl, cormorant, barn owl, |
18 el cisne, el pelícano, el calamón, | 18 ibis, pelican, white vulture, |
19 la cigüeña, la garza en todas sus especies, la abubilla y el murciélago. | 19 stork, the various kinds of heron, the hoopoe and the bat. |
20 Será abominable para vosotros todo bicho alado que anda sobre cuatro patas. | 20 "Al winged insects moving on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating. |
21 Pero de todos los bichos alados que andan sobre cuatro patas, podréis comer aquellos que además de sus cuatro patas tienen zancas para saltar con ellas sobre el suelo. | 21 Of al these winged insects you may eat only the fol owing: those with the sort of legs above their feetwhich enable them to leap over the ground. |
22 De ellos podréis comer: la langosta en sus diversas especies y toda clase de solam, de jargol y de jagab. | 22 These are the ones you may eat: the various kinds of migratory locust, the various kinds of solhamlocust, hargol locust and hagab locust. |
23 Cualquier otro bicho alado de cuatro patas será para vosotros abominable. | 23 But al other winged insects on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating. |
24 Por estos animales podéis contraer impureza. El que toque su cadáver quedará impuro hasta la tarde. | 24 "By the fol owing you wil be made unclean. Anyone who touches the carcase of one wil be uncleanuntil evening. |
25 El que levante alguno de sus cadáveres tendrá que lavar sus vestidos y quedará impuro hasta la tarde. | 25 Anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening. |
26 Asimismo todos los animales que tienen pezuña no partida en dos uñas y no rumian, serán impuros para vosotros. Todo aquel que los toque quedará impuro. | 26 Animals that have hoofs, but not cloven, and that are not ruminant, you wil regard as unclean;anyone who touches them will be unclean. |
27 De entre los cuadrúpedos os serán impuros todos los que andan sobre las plantas de sus pies. El que toque sus cadáveres quedará impuro hasta la tarde. | 27 Those four-footed animals which walk on the flat of their paws you wil regard as unclean; anyonewho touches their carcases wil be unclean until evening, |
28 El que levante el cadáver de uno de ellos tendrá que lavar sus vestidos, y quedará impuro hasta la tarde; son impuros para vosotros. | 28 and anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.You will regard them as unclean. |
29 De entre los bichos pequeños que andan arrastrándose por el suelo serán impuros para vosotros: la comadreja, el ratón el lagarto en sus diversas especies, | 29 "Of the smal creatures which crawl along the ground, these are the ones which you wil regard asunclean: the mole, the rat, the various kinds of lizard: |
30 el erizo, el cocodrilo, el camaleón, la salamandra y el topo. | 30 gecko, koah, letaah, chameleon and tinshamet. |
31 Entre todos los bichos, éstos serán impuros para vosotros. Todo el que toque su cadáver quedará impuro hasta la tarde. | 31 "Of al the smal creatures, these are the animals which you must regard as disgusting. Anyone whotouches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening. |
32 Quedará impuro cualquier objeto sobre el que caiga uno de sus cadáveres; ya sea un instrumento de madera, o un vestido, una piel, un saco o cualquier utensilio. Será metido en agua y quedará impuro. | 32 "Any object on which one of these creatures fal s when it is dead becomes unclean: wooden utensil,clothing, skin, sacking, any utensil whatever. It must be immersed in water and wil remain unclean until evening:then it wil be clean. |
33 Si cae uno de estos cadáveres en una vasija de barro, cuanto haya dentro de ella quedará impuro y romperéis la vasija. | 33 If the creature fal s into an earthenware vessel, the vessel must be broken; whatever the vesselcontains is unclean. |
34 Toda cosa comestible preparada con dicha agua será impura, y toda bebida que se beba en una de esas vasijas será impura. | 34 Any edible food wil be unclean if the water touches it; any drinkable liquid will be unclean, no matterwhat its container. |
35 Cualquier objeto sobre el que caiga alguno de esos cadáveres quedará impuro: el horno y el doble fogón serán derribados; son impuros y los tendréis por impuros. | 35 Anything on which the carcase of such a creature may fal wil be unclean: be it oven or stove, it mustbe destroyed; for they are unclean and you wil regard them as unclean |
36 (Solamente las fuentes y cisternas, donde se recogen las aguas, permanecerán puras), pero el que toque sus cadáveres quedará impuro. | 36 (although springs, wel s and stretches of water wil remain clean); anyone who touches one of theircarcases wil be unclean. |
37 De igual manera cuando caiga alguno de esos cadáveres sobre una semilla que va a sembrarse, quedará pura; | 37 If one of their carcases fal s on any kind of seed, the seed will remain clean; |
38 mas si cayese alguno de esos cadáveres sobre semilla mojada, la tendréis por impura. | 38 but if the seed has been moistened and one of their carcases fal s on it, you wil regard it as unclean. |
39 Cuando muera uno de aquellos animales de los que podéis comer, el que toque su cadáver quedará impuro hasta la tarde. | 39 "If one of the animals that you use as food dies, anyone who touches the carcase wil be unclean untilevening; |
40 El que coma carne de ese cadáver deberá lavar sus vestidos y quedará impuro hasta la tarde. Y el que levante ese cadáver habrá de lavar sus vestidos y quedará impuro hasta la tarde. | 40 anyone who eats any of the carcase must wash his clothing and will remain unclean until evening;anyone who picks up the carcase must wash his clothing and wil remain unclean until evening. |
41 Todo bicho que anda arrastrándose sobre la tierra es cosa abominable; no se podrá comer. | 41 "Any creature that swarms on the ground is detestable for eating; it must not be eaten. |
42 No comeréis ningún animal de los que caminan sobre su vientre o sobre cuatro patas o sobre muchos pies, es decir, ningún bicho que se arrastra por el suelo, porque son abominación. | 42 Anything that moves on its bel y, anything that moves on four legs or more -- in short all the creaturesthat swarm on the ground -- you will not eat, since they are detestable. |
43 No os hagáis inmundos con ninguna clase de bicho que se arrastra, ni os hagáis impuros con ellos, para que no os contaminéis por su causa. | 43 Do not make yourselves detestable with al these swarming creatures; do not defile yourselves withthem, do not be defiled by them. |
44 Porque yo soy Yahveh, vuestro Dios; santificaos y sed santos, pues yo soy santo. No os haréis impuros con ninguno de esos bichos que se arrastran por el suelo. | 44 For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I amholy: do not defile yourselves with all these creatures that swarm on the ground. |
45 Pues yo soy Yahveh, el que os he subido de la tierra de Egipto, para ser vuestro Dios. Sed, pues, santos porque yo soy santo. | 45 Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you must therefore be holybecause I am holy." ' |
46 Esta es la ley acerca de los animales, de las aves, y de todos los seres vivientes que se mueven en el agua, y de todos los que andan arrastrándose sobre la tierra; | 46 Such is the law concerning animals, birds, al living creatures that move in water and al creaturesthat swarm on the ground. |
47 para que hagáis distinción entre lo impuro y lo puro, entre el animal que puede comerse y el que no puede comerse. | 47 Its purpose is to distinguish the clean from the unclean, the creatures that may be eaten from thosethat may not be eaten. |
