NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 You must see what great love the Father has lavished on us by letting us be cal ed God's children --which is what we are! The reason why the world does not acknowledge us is that it did not acknowledge him.	1 Guardate quale grande amore ha dato a noi il Padre: siamo chiamati figli di Dio, e lo siamo! Per questo il mondo non ci conosce, poiché esso non ha conosciuto lui.
2 My dear friends, we are already God's children, but what we shall be in the future has not yet beenrevealed. We are wel aware that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he real yis.	2 Carissimi, fin d'ora siamo figli di Dio e non si è ancora manifestato quel che saremo. Sappiamo che quando ciò si sarà manifestato saremo simili a lui, poiché lo vedremo com'egli è.
3 Whoever treasures this hope of him purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.	3 Chiunque ha questa speranza in lui, diventa puro com'egli è puro.
4 Whoever sins, acts wickedly, because al sin is wickedness.	4 Chiunque commette il peccato commette anche l'iniquità, poiché il peccato è l'iniquità.
5 Now you are well aware that he has appeared in order to take sins away, and that in him there is no sin.	5 Voi sapete che egli si è manifestato per togliere i peccati, e in lui non vi è peccato.
6 No one who remains in him sins, and whoever sins has neither seen him nor recognised him.	6 Chiunque rimane in lui non pecca; chiunque pecca non lo ha veduto né lo ha conosciuto.
7 Children, do not let anyone lead you astray. Whoever acts uprightly is upright, just as he is upright.	7 Figli, nessuno vi inganni: chi compie la giustizia è giusto.
8 Whoever lives sinfully belongs to the devil, since the devil has been a sinner from the beginning. Thiswas the purpose of the appearing of the Son of God, to undo the work of the devil.	8 Chi commette il peccato è dal diavolo, poiché il diavolo fin dal principio perpetra il peccato. Per questo il Figlio di Dio si è manifestato, per distruggere le opere del diavolo.
9 No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is achild of God.	9 Chiunque è generato da Dio non commette peccato, poiché il seme di Dio rimane in lui; egli non può peccare poiché è generato da Dio.
10 This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not liveuprightly and does not love his brother is not from God.	10 In questo si rendono manifesti i figli di Dio e i figli del diavolo: chiunque non compie la giustizia non è da Dio, come pure chi non ama il proprio fratello.
11 This is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we must love one another,	11 Poiché questo è l'annuncio che avete ascoltato fin dal principio: dobbiamo amarci gli uni gli altri.
12 not to be like Cain, who was from the Evil One and murdered his brother. And why did he murder hisbrother? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's upright.	12 Non come Caino, il quale era dal maligno e ha ucciso il suo fratello. E per quale motivo lo ha ucciso? Perché le sue opere erano malvagie, mentre quelle del suo fratello erano giuste.
13 Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.	13 Non vi meravigliate, fratelli, se il mondo vi odia.
14 We are wel aware that we have passed over from death to life because we love our brothers.Whoever does not love, remains in death.	14 Noi sappiamo di essere passati dalla morte alla vita perché amiamo i fratelli. Chi non ama rimane nella morte.
15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you are well aware that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.	15 Chiunque odia il proprio fratello è omicida e voi sapete che chi è omicida non ha la vita eterna che rimane in lui.
16 This is the proof of love, that he laid down his life for us, and we too ought to lay down our lives for ourbrothers.	16 Da ciò noi abbiamo conosciuto l'amore: egli ha dato la sua vita per noi. Quindi anche noi dobbiamo dare la nostra vita per i fratelli.
17 If anyone is wel -off in worldly possessions and sees his brother in need but closes his heart to him,how can the love of God be remaining in him?	17 Se uno possiede le ricchezze del mondo e, vedendo il proprio fratello che si trova nel bisogno, gli chiude il cuore, come l'amore di Dio può essere in lui?
18 Children, our love must be not just words or mere talk, but something active and genuine.	18 Figli, non amiamo con le parole e con la lingua, ma con le opere e nella verità.
19 This will be the proof that we belong to the truth, and it wil convince us in his presence,	19 Da ciò noi conosceremo che siamo dalla verità e dinanzi a lui rassicureremo il nostro cuore,
20 even if our own feelings condemn us, that God is greater than our feelings and knows al things.	20 qualunque cosa il cuore nostro possa rimproverarci, poiché Dio è più grande del nostro cuore e conosce tutto.
21 My dear friends, if our own feelings do not condemn us, we can be fearless before God,	21 Carissimi, se il cuore non ci rimprovera, abbiamo piena sicurezza presso Dio,
22 and whatever we ask we shal receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what isacceptable to him.	22 e qualunque cosa gli chiediamo, la riceviamo da lui, poiché noi osserviamo i suoi comandamenti e facciamo ciò che è gradito davanti a lui.
23 His commandment is this, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and that weshould love one another as he commanded us.	23 Questo è il suo comandamento: dobbiamo credere nel nome del suo Figlio Gesù Cristo e dobbiamo amarci gli uni e gli altri, secondo il comandamento che egli ci ha dato.
24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains in God, and God in him. And this is the proof that heremains in us: the Spirit that he has given us.	24 Chi osserva i suoi comandamenti rimane in Dio e Dio in lui. Da questo noi conosciamo che egli rimane in noi: dallo Spirito che egli ci ha dato.
