1 John 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 You must see what great love the Father has lavished on us by letting us be cal ed God's children --which is what we are! The reason why the world does not acknowledge us is that it did not acknowledge him.	1 ¡Miren cómo nos amó el Padre! Quiso que nos llamáramos hijos de Dios, y nosotros lo somos realmente. Si el mundo no nos reconoce, es porque no lo ha reconocido a él.
2 My dear friends, we are already God's children, but what we shall be in the future has not yet beenrevealed. We are wel aware that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he real yis.	2 Queridos míos, desde ahora somos hijos de Dios, y lo que seremos no se ha manifestado todavía. Sabemos que cuando se manifieste, seremos semejantes a él, porque lo veremos tal cual es.
3 Whoever treasures this hope of him purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.	3 El que tiene esta esperanza en él, se purifica, así como él es puro.
4 Whoever sins, acts wickedly, because al sin is wickedness.	4 El que comete el pecado comete también la iniquidad, porque el pecado es la iniquidad.
5 Now you are well aware that he has appeared in order to take sins away, and that in him there is no sin.	5 Pero ustedes saben que él se manifestó para quitar el pecado, y que él no tiene pecado.
6 No one who remains in him sins, and whoever sins has neither seen him nor recognised him.	6 El que permanece en él, no peca, y el que peca no lo ha visto ni lo ha conocido.
7 Children, do not let anyone lead you astray. Whoever acts uprightly is upright, just as he is upright.	7 Hijos míos, que nadie los engañe: el que practica la justicia es justo, como él mismo es justo.
8 Whoever lives sinfully belongs to the devil, since the devil has been a sinner from the beginning. Thiswas the purpose of the appearing of the Son of God, to undo the work of the devil.	8 Pero el que peca procede del demonio, porque el demonio es pecador desde el principio. Y el Hijo de Dios se manifestó para destruir las obras del demonio.
9 No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is achild of God.	9 El que ha nacido de Dios no peca, porque el germen de Dios permanece en él; y no puede pecar, porque ha nacido de Dios.
10 This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not liveuprightly and does not love his brother is not from God.	10 Los hijos de Dios y los hijos del demonio se manifiestan en esto: el que no practica la justicia no es de Dios, ni tampoco el que no ama a su hermano.
11 This is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we must love one another,	11 La noticia que oyeron desde el principio es esta: que nos amemos los unos a los otros.
12 not to be like Cain, who was from the Evil One and murdered his brother. And why did he murder hisbrother? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's upright.	12 No hagamos como Caín, que era del Maligno y mató a su hermano. ¿Y por qué lo mató? Porque sus obras eran malas, y las de su hermano, en cambio, eran justas.
13 Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.	13 No se extrañen, hermanos, si el mundo los aborrece.
14 We are wel aware that we have passed over from death to life because we love our brothers.Whoever does not love, remains in death.	14 Nosotros sabemos que hemos pasado de la muerte a la Vida, porque amamos a nuestros hermanos. El que no ama permanece en la muerte.
15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you are well aware that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.	15 El que odia a su hermano es un homicida, y ustedes saben que ningún homicida posee la Vida eterna.
16 This is the proof of love, that he laid down his life for us, and we too ought to lay down our lives for ourbrothers.	16 En esto hemos conocido el amor: en que él entregó su vida por nosotros. Por eso, también nosotros debemos dar la vida por nuestros hermanos.
17 If anyone is wel -off in worldly possessions and sees his brother in need but closes his heart to him,how can the love of God be remaining in him?	17 Si alguien vive en la abundancia, y viendo a su hermano en la necesidad, le cierra su corazón, ¿cómo permanecerá en él el amor de Dios?
18 Children, our love must be not just words or mere talk, but something active and genuine.	18 Hijitos míos, no amemos solamente con la lengua y de palabra, sino con obras y de verdad.
19 This will be the proof that we belong to the truth, and it wil convince us in his presence,	19 En esto conoceremos que somos de la verdad, y estaremos tranquilos delante de Dios
20 even if our own feelings condemn us, that God is greater than our feelings and knows al things.	20 aunque nuestra conciencia nos reproche algo, porque Dios es más grande que nuestra conciencia y conoce todas las cosas.
21 My dear friends, if our own feelings do not condemn us, we can be fearless before God,	21 Queridos míos, si nuestro corazón no nos hace ningún reproche, podemos acercarnos a Dios con plena confianza,
22 and whatever we ask we shal receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what isacceptable to him.	22 y él nos concederá todo cuanto le pidamos, porque cumplimos sus mandamientos y hacemos lo que le agrada.
23 His commandment is this, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and that weshould love one another as he commanded us.	23 Su mandamiento es este: que creamos en el nombre de su Hijo Jesucristo, y nos amemos los unos a los otros como él nos ordenó.
24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains in God, and God in him. And this is the proof that heremains in us: the Spirit that he has given us.	24 El que cumple sus mandamientos permanece en Dios, y Dios permanece en él; y sabemos que él permanece en nosotros, por el Espíritu que nos ha dado.
