1 You must see what great love the Father has lavished on us by letting us be cal ed God's children --which is what we are! The reason why the world does not acknowledge us is that it did not acknowledge him.	1 ראו מה גדלה אהבת האב הנתונה לנו אשר נקרא בני האלהים על כן העולם איננו ידע אתנו יען כי אותו לא ידע
2 My dear friends, we are already God's children, but what we shall be in the future has not yet beenrevealed. We are wel aware that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he real yis.	2 אהובי עתה בנים לאלהים אנחנו ועוד לא נגלה מה נהיה אך ידענו כי בהגלותו נדמה לו כי נראהו כאשר הוא
3 Whoever treasures this hope of him purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.	3 וכל אשר לו תקוה כזאת יטהר את עצמו כאשר טהור גם הוא
4 Whoever sins, acts wickedly, because al sin is wickedness.	4 כל העשה חטא גם פשע בתורה הוא והחטא הוא פשע בתורה
5 Now you are well aware that he has appeared in order to take sins away, and that in him there is no sin.	5 וידעתם כי הוא נגלה לשאת את חטאינו ובו אין חטא
6 No one who remains in him sins, and whoever sins has neither seen him nor recognised him.	6 כל העמד בו לא יחטא כל החוטא לא ראהו גם לא ידעו
7 Children, do not let anyone lead you astray. Whoever acts uprightly is upright, just as he is upright.	7 בני אל יתעה אתכם איש העשה צדקה צדיק הוא כאשר הוא צדיק
8 Whoever lives sinfully belongs to the devil, since the devil has been a sinner from the beginning. Thiswas the purpose of the appearing of the Son of God, to undo the work of the devil.	8 והעשה חטא מן השטן הוא כי השטן חטא מראש לזאת נגלה בן האלהים להפר את פעלות השטן
9 No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is achild of God.	9 כל הנולד מאלהים לא יחטא כי זרעו בו יקום ולא יוכל לחטא כי מאלהים נולד
10 This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not liveuprightly and does not love his brother is not from God.	10 ונודעו בזאת בני האלהים ובני השטן כל איש אשר לא יעשה צדקה איננו מאלהים וכן כל אשר לא יאהב את אחיו
11 This is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we must love one another,	11 כי זאת היא השמועה אשר שמעתם מראש לאהבה איש את רעהו
12 not to be like Cain, who was from the Evil One and murdered his brother. And why did he murder hisbrother? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's upright.	12 לא כקין אשר היה מן הרע והרג את אחיו ומדוע הרגו יען כי מעשיו היו רעים ומעשי אחיו מעשי צדק
13 Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.	13 אל תתמהו אחי אם ישנא אתכם העולם
14 We are wel aware that we have passed over from death to life because we love our brothers.Whoever does not love, remains in death.	14 אנחנו ידענו כי עברנו מן המות אל החיים על כי נאהב את אחינו איש אשר לא יאהב את אחיו ישאר במות
15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you are well aware that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.	15 כל השנא את אחיו רצח נפש הוא וידעתם כי כל רצח נפש לא יתקימו בו חיי עולמים
16 This is the proof of love, that he laid down his life for us, and we too ought to lay down our lives for ourbrothers.	16 בזאת הכרנו את האהבה כי הוא נתן את נפשו בעדנו גם אנחנו חיבים לתת את נפשתינו בעד אחינו
17 If anyone is wel -off in worldly possessions and sees his brother in need but closes his heart to him,how can the love of God be remaining in him?	17 ואיש אשר לו נכסי העולם והוא ראה את אחיו חסר לחם וקפץ את רחמיו ממנו איך תעמד בו אהבת אלהים
18 Children, our love must be not just words or mere talk, but something active and genuine.	18 בני אל נא נאהב במלין ובלשון כי אם בפעל ובאמת
19 This will be the proof that we belong to the truth, and it wil convince us in his presence,	19 ובזאת נדעה כי מן האמת אנחנו ולפניו נשקיט את לבותינו
20 even if our own feelings condemn us, that God is greater than our feelings and knows al things.	20 כי אם לבבנו ירשיע אתנו האלהים נשגב הוא מלבבנו וידע את כל
21 My dear friends, if our own feelings do not condemn us, we can be fearless before God,	21 אהובי אם לבבנו לא ירשיענו בטחון לנו באלהים
22 and whatever we ask we shal receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what isacceptable to him.	22 וכל אשר נשאל מאתו נקבל כי נשמר את מצותיו ונעשה את הרצוי לפניו
23 His commandment is this, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and that weshould love one another as he commanded us.	23 וזאת היא מצותו להאמין בשם בנו ישוע המשיח ולאהבה איש את רעהו כאשר צונו
24 Whoever keeps his commandments remains in God, and God in him. And this is the proof that heremains in us: the Spirit that he has given us.	24 והשמר את מצותיו יקום בו והוא בו ובזאת נדע כי הוא שכן בנו ברוח אשר נתן לנו
