1 Timothy 2

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 I urge then, first of al that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving should be offered foreveryone,	1 Raccomando, dunque, prima di tutto, che si facciano suppliche, preghiere, intercessioni e rendimenti di grazie in favore di tutti gli uomini,
2 for kings and others in authority, so that we may be able to live peaceful and quiet lives with al devotionand propriety.	2 per i re e per tutti coloro che sono in autorità, affinché possiamo trascorrere una vita tranquilla e serena, con ogni pietà e decoro.

5 For there is only one God, and there is only one mediator between God and humanity, himself a humanbeing, Christ Jesus,	5 Unico infatti è Dio, unico anche il mediatore fra Dio e gli uomini, l'uomo Cristo Gesù,
6 who offered himself as a ransom for al . This was the witness given at the appointed time,	6 che ha dato se stesso in riscatto per tutti, quale testimonianza per i tempi stabiliti,
7 of which I was appointed herald and apostle and -- I am telling the truth and no lie -- a teacher of thegentiles in faith and truth.	7 in favore della quale io sono stato costituito araldo e apostolo -- dico il vero, non mentisco -- maestro delle genti nella fede e nella verità.
8 In every place, then, I want the men to lift their hands up reverently in prayer, with no anger or argument.	8 Voglio, pertanto, che gli uomini preghino in ogni luogo, innalzando verso il cielo mani pure, senza collera e spirito di contesa.
9 Similarly, women are to wear suitable clothes and to be dressed quietly and modestly, without braidedhair or gold and jewellery or expensive clothes;	9 Alla stessa maniera facciano le donne, vestendosi con abbigliamento decoroso: si adornino secondo verecondia e moderatezza, non con trecce e ornamenti d'oro, oppure con perle o vesti sontuose,
10 their adornment is to do the good works that are proper for women who claim to be religious.	10 ma con opere buone, come conviene a donne che fanno professione di pietà.
11 During instruction, a woman should be quiet and respectful.	11 La donna impari in silenzio, con perfetta sottomissione.
12 I give no permission for a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. A woman ought to be quiet,	12 Non permetto alla donna d'insegnare, né di dominare sull'uomo, ma che stia in silenzio.
13 because Adam was formed first and Eve afterwards,	13 Per primo infatti è stato formato Adamo e quindi Eva.
14 and it was not Adam who was led astray but the woman who was led astray and fell into sin.	14 Inoltre, non fu Adamo ad essere sedotto; la donna, invece, fu sedotta e cadde nel peccato.
15 Nevertheless, she will be saved by child-bearing, provided she lives a sensible life and is constant infaith and love and holiness.	15 Tuttavia essa si salverà mediante la generazione dei figli, a condizione però di perseverare nella fede, nella carità e nella santità, con saggezza.
