1 Timothy 2

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 I urge then, first of al that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving should be offered foreveryone,	1 ועתה קדם כל דבר אבקשה מכם לשאת תפלות ותחנונים ובקשות ותודות בעד כל בני אדם
2 for kings and others in authority, so that we may be able to live peaceful and quiet lives with al devotionand propriety.	2 בעד המלכים וכל השליטים למען נחיה חיי השקט ובטח בכל חסידות וישר
3 To do this is right, and acceptable to God our Saviour:	3 כי כן טוב ורצוי בעיני אלהים מושיענו
4 he wants everyone to be saved and reach full knowledge of the truth.	4 אשר חפצו שיושעו כל בני האדם ויגיעו להכרת האמת
5 For there is only one God, and there is only one mediator between God and humanity, himself a humanbeing, Christ Jesus,	5 כי אחד הוא האלהים ואחד הוא העמד בין אלהים ובין בני אדם הוא בן אדם המשיח ישוע
6 who offered himself as a ransom for al . This was the witness given at the appointed time,	6 אשר נתן את נפשו כפר בעד כל וזאת העדות הבאה בעתה
7 of which I was appointed herald and apostle and -- I am telling the truth and no lie -- a teacher of thegentiles in faith and truth.	7 אשר אני הפקדתי לה לכרוז ולשליח אמת אני אמר במשיח ולא אשקר מורה הגוים באמונה ובאמת
8 In every place, then, I want the men to lift their hands up reverently in prayer, with no anger or argument.	8 לכן רצוני שיתפללו האנשים בכל מקום וישאו ידיהם קדש בלי כעס ומדון
9 Similarly, women are to wear suitable clothes and to be dressed quietly and modestly, without braidedhair or gold and jewellery or expensive clothes;	9 וכן גם הנשים תתיפינה בתלבשת נאה עם בשת פנים וצניעות לא במחלפות הראש לא בזהב לא בפנינים ולא במלבושים יקרים
10 their adornment is to do the good works that are proper for women who claim to be religious.	10 אלא כמו שהוא הגון לנשים אשר בחרו להן יראת אלהים במעשים טובים
11 During instruction, a woman should be quiet and respectful.	11 האשה תלמד דומם בכל הכנעה
12 I give no permission for a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. A woman ought to be quiet,	12 ואינני נתן רשות לאשה ללמד אף לא להתנשא על האיש אלא תדום
13 because Adam was formed first and Eve afterwards,	13 כי אדם נוצר בראשונה ואחריו חוה
14 and it was not Adam who was led astray but the woman who was led astray and fell into sin.	14 ואדם לא נפתה כי האשה שמעה לקול המשיא ותבא לידי עברה
15 Nevertheless, she will be saved by child-bearing, provided she lives a sensible life and is constant infaith and love and holiness.	15 אבל תושע בלדתה בנים אם תעמדנה באמונה ובאהבה ובקדשה עם הצניעות
