1 The heads of families of the Levites then came to the priest, Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun and theheads of families of the tribes of Israel-	1 E i principi delle famiglie di Levi andarono a trovar Eleazaro sommo sacerdote, e Giosuè figliuolo di Nun, e i capi delle famiglie di ogni tribù de' figliuoli d’Israele.
2 they were then at Shiloh in Canaan. They said to them, 'Through Moses, Yahweh ordered us to begiven towns to live in, with their pasture lands for our livestock.'	2 E parlaron con essi in Silo nella terra di Canaan, e dissero: il Signore ordinò per mezzo di Mosè che fossero a noi assegnate delle città da abitare, co' loro sobborghi per nudrire il bestiame.
3 In compliance with Yahweh's order, the Israelites consequently and from their own heritage gave theLevites the fol owing towns with their pasture lands:	3 E i figliuoli d'Israele dettero delle loro porzioni, secondo il comando del Signore, le città co' loro sobborghi.
4 Lots were cast for the clans of the Kohathites: to those Levites who were sons of Aaron the priest, felthirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin;	4 Ed essendo uscita a sorte la famiglia di Caath, i figliuoli di Aronne sacerdote ebbero tredici città delle tribù di Giuda, e di Simeon, e di Beniamin:
5 to the other sons of Kohath, by clans,	5 E agli altri figliuoli di Caath, che rimanevano, cioè a dire a' Leviti furon date dieci città delle tribù di Ephraim e di Dan e di mezza la tribù di Manasse.
6 fel ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. To the sons of Gershon,by clans, fel thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh inBashan.	6 Ai figliuoli di Gerson toccò in sorte di aver numero tredici città delle tribù d’Issachar, e di Aser, e di Nephtali e della mezza tribù di Manasse in Basan.
7 To the sons of Merari, by clans, fel twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.	7 E a’ figliuoli di Merari distinti nelle loro famiglie, dodici città delle tribù di Ruben, e Gad, e Zabulon.
8 The Israelites assigned these towns and their pasture lands to the Levites by lot, as Yahweh hadordered through Moses.	8 E diedero i figliuoli d'Israele a' Leviti le città co' loro sobborghi, come avea comandato il Signore per mezzo di Mosè distribuendole loro a sorte.
9 From the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon, they gave the towns named below.	9 E questi sono i nomi delle città prese da' figliuoli di Giuda, e di Simeon, e assegnate da Giosuè.
10 The first portion was for the sons of Aaron, belonging to the clans of the Kohathites, to the sons ofLevi, since the first lot was theirs.	10 I figliuoli di Aronne della famiglia di Caath, della stirpe di Levi (che furono i primi a uscir a sorte) ebbero

20 As regards the clans of the sons of Kohath, those Levites stil left of the sons of Kohath, the towns oftheir lot were taken from the tribe of Ephraim.	20 Agli altri figliuoli di Caath della stirpe di Levi distinti nelle loro famiglie furono assegnate:

39 Heshbon with its pasture lands and Jazer with its pasture lands -- four towns.	39 Tutte adunque le città date a' Leviti in mezzo alle porzioni de' figliuoli d'Israele furono quarantotto
40 Total number of towns forming the lot of the sons of Merari by clans, of the remaining levitical clans:twelve towns.	40 Co' loro sobborghi,e furono distribuite una per una secondo l’ordine delle famiglie.
41 The total number of towns for the Levites in Israelite territory was forty-eight towns with their pasture lands.	41 E il Signore Dio diede ad Israele tutta la terra che avea promesso di dar loro col giuramento fattone a' loro padri: e la possedettero, e vi abitarono.
42 These towns consisted in each case of the town itself and the pasture land round it. This was thecase with all the towns.	42 Ed ei diede loro la pace con tutte le nazioni circonvicine: e nissun nimico ardì di resistere ad essi; ma tutti furon soggettati al loro dominio.
43 This was how Yahweh gave the Israelites the entire country which he had sworn to give to theirancestors. They took possession of it and settled in it.	43 Una sola delle parole che egli avea promesso di adempire non restò indietro; ma tutte furon verificate dall'evento.
44 Yahweh granted them tranquil ity on all their frontiers just as he had sworn to their ancestors and, ofal their enemies, not one succeeded in resisting them. Yahweh put al their enemies at their mercy.
45 Of al the promises that Yahweh had made to the House of Israel, not one failed; al were fulfilled.
