NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 The heads of families of the Levites then came to the priest, Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun and theheads of families of the tribes of Israel-	1 Alors les chefs de famille des Lévites s'en vinrent trouver le prêtre Eléazar, Josué, fils de Nûn, et leschefs de famille des tribus d'Israël,
2 they were then at Shiloh in Canaan. They said to them, 'Through Moses, Yahweh ordered us to begiven towns to live in, with their pasture lands for our livestock.'	2 alors qu'on se trouvait à Silo, au pays de Canaan, et leur dirent: "Yahvé, par l'intermédiaire de Moïse,a ordonné qu'on nous donne des villes pour y demeurer, et leurs pâturages pour notre bétail."
3 In compliance with Yahweh's order, the Israelites consequently and from their own heritage gave theLevites the fol owing towns with their pasture lands:	3 Les Israélites donnèrent donc aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, selon l'ordre de Yahvé, les villes enquestion avec leurs pâturages.
4 Lots were cast for the clans of the Kohathites: to those Levites who were sons of Aaron the priest, felthirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin;	4 On tira au sort pour les clans des Qehatites: aux fils du prêtre Aaron, d'entre les Lévites, échurenttreize villes des tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin;
5 to the other sons of Kohath, by clans,	5 aux autres fils de Qehat selon leurs clans, échurent dix villes des tribus d'Ephraïm, de Dan et de lademi-tribu de Manassé.
6 fel ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. To the sons of Gershon,by clans, fel thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh inBashan.	6 Aux fils de Gershôn, selon leurs clans, échurent treize villes des tribus d'Issachar, d'Asher, deNephtali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Bashân.
7 To the sons of Merari, by clans, fel twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.	7 Aux fils de Merari selon leurs clans, échurent douze villes des tribus de Ruben, de Gad et deZabulon.
8 The Israelites assigned these towns and their pasture lands to the Levites by lot, as Yahweh hadordered through Moses.	8 Les Israélites assignèrent par le sort ces villes et leurs pâturages aux Lévites, comme l'avait ordonnéYahvé par l'intermédiaire de Moïse.
9 From the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon, they gave the towns named below.	9 Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes que voici dont lesnoms furent donnés.
10 The first portion was for the sons of Aaron, belonging to the clans of the Kohathites, to the sons ofLevi, since the first lot was theirs.	10 Ce fut d'abord la part des fils d'Aaron, appartenant au clan des Qehatites, aux fils de Lévi, car lepremier lot était pour eux.
11 They gave them Kiriath-Arba, Anak's father's town -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah, with itssurrounding pasture lands.	11 Ils leur donnèrent Qiryat-Arba la ville du père d'Anaq -- c'est Hébron -- dans la montagne de Juda,avec les pâturages environnants.
12 The fields and vil ages of this town, however, they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his property.	12 Mais la campagne de cette ville avec ses villages, ils les donnèrent en propriété à Caleb, fils deYephunné.
13 To the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, as wel as Libnah with its pasture lands,	13 Aux fils du prêtre Aaron, ils donnèrent Hébron, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec sespâturages, ainsi que Libna et ses pâturages,
14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,	14 Yattir et ses pâturages, Eshtemoa et ses pâturages,
15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,	15 Holôn et ses pâturages, Debir et ses pâturages,
16 Ashan with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, and Beth-Shemesh with its pasture lands:nine towns taken from these two tribes;	16 Ashân et ses pâturages, Yutta et ses pâturages, et Bet-Shémesh et ses pâturages: neuf villes prisessur ces deux tribus.
17 and, from the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,	17 De la tribu de Benjamin, Gabaôn et ses pâturages, Géba et ses pâturages,
18 Anathoth with its pasture lands and Almon with its pasture lands: four towns.	18 Anatot et ses pâturages, et Almôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
19 Total number of towns for the priests, the sons of Aaron: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.	19 Total des villes des prêtres fils d'Aaron: treize villes et leurs pâturages.
20 As regards the clans of the sons of Kohath, those Levites stil left of the sons of Kohath, the towns oftheir lot were taken from the tribe of Ephraim.	20 Quant aux clans des fils de Qehat, aux Lévites qui restaient parmi les fils de Qehat, les villes de leurlot furent prises sur la tribu d'Ephraïm.
21 They were given Shechem, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, in thehighlands of Ephraim, as wel as Gezer with its pasture lands,	21 On leur donna Sichem, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages, dans la montagned'Ephraïm, ainsi que Gézer et ses pâturages,
22 Kibzaim with its pasture lands, and Beth-Horon with its pasture lands: four towns;	22 Qibçayim et ses pâturages, et Bet-Horôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
23 from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,	23 De la tribu de Dan, Elteqé et ses pâturages, Gibbetôn et ses pâturages,
24 Aijalon with its pasture lands and Gath-Rimmon with its pasture lands: four towns;	24 Ayyalôn et ses pâturages, et Gat-Rimmôn et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
25 and, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasture lands and Jibleam with its pasturelands: two towns.	25 De la demi-tribu de Manassé, Tanak et ses pâturages, et Yibleam et ses pâturages: deux villes.
26 In al : ten towns with their pasture lands for the remaining clans of the sons of Kohath.	26 Total: dix villes avec leurs pâturages pour les clans qui restaient parmi les fils de Qehat.
27 To the sons of Gershon, of the levitical clans, were given: from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan inBashan, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands --two towns;	27 Aux fils de Gershôn, de clans lévitiques, on donna, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Golân en Bashân,ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Ashtarot, avec leurs pâturages: deux villes.
28 from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Dobrath with its pasture lands,	28 De la tribu d'Issachar, Qishyôn et ses pâturages, Daberat et ses pâturages,
29 Jarmuth with its pasture lands and En-Gannim with its pasture lands -- four towns;	29 Yarmut et ses pâturages, et En-Gannim et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
30 from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,	30 De la tribu d'Asher, Mishéal et ses pâturages, Abdôn et ses pâturages,
31 Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands -- four towns;	31 Helqat et ses pâturages, et Rehob et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
32 and, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, Hammoth-Dor with its pasture lands and Kartan with its pasture lands -- three towns.	32 De la tribu de Nephtali, Qédesh en Galilée, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages,Hammot-Dor et ses pâturages, et Qartân et ses pâturages: trois villes.
33 Total number of towns of the Gershonites, by clans: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.	33 Total des villes des Gershonites, selon leurs clans: treize villes et leurs pâturages.
34 To the clans of the sons of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, fel : from the tribe of Zebulun,Jokneam with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands,	34 Au clan des fils de Merari, au reste des Lévites, échurent de la tribu de Zabulon Yoqnéam et sespâturages, Qarta et ses pâturages,
35 Rimmon with its pasture lands and Nahalal with its pasture lands -- four towns;	35 Rimmôn et ses pâturages, et Nahalal et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
36 on the other side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the desert, on thetableland, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,	36 De l'autre côté du Jourdain de Jéricho, de la tribu de Ruben, Béçèr dans le désert, sur le plateau,ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages, Yahaç et ses pâturages,
37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands and Mephaath with its pasture lands -- four towns;	37 Qedémot et ses pâturages, et Méphaat et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
38 and, from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,	38 De la tribu de Gad, Ramot en Galaad, ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, avec ses pâturages,Mahanayim et ses pâturages,
39 Heshbon with its pasture lands and Jazer with its pasture lands -- four towns.	39 Heshbôn et ses pâturages, et Yazèr et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
40 Total number of towns forming the lot of the sons of Merari by clans, of the remaining levitical clans:twelve towns.	40 Total des villes qui furent le lot des fils de Merari selon leurs clans, du reste des clans lévitiques:douze villes.
41 The total number of towns for the Levites in Israelite territory was forty-eight towns with their pasture lands.	41 Le nombre total des villes des Lévites au milieu du domaine des Israélites était de 48 villes avecleurs pâturages.
42 These towns consisted in each case of the town itself and the pasture land round it. This was thecase with all the towns.	42 Ces villes comprenaient chacune la ville et ses pâturages alentour. Il en allait ainsi pour toutes lesvilles.
43 This was how Yahweh gave the Israelites the entire country which he had sworn to give to theirancestors. They took possession of it and settled in it.	43 C'est ainsi que Yahvé donna aux Israélites tout le pays qu'il avait juré de donner à leurs pères. Ils enprirent possession et s'y établirent.
44 Yahweh granted them tranquil ity on all their frontiers just as he had sworn to their ancestors and, ofal their enemies, not one succeeded in resisting them. Yahweh put al their enemies at their mercy.	44 Yahvé leur procura la tranquillité sur toutes leurs frontières, tout comme il l'avait juré à leurs pèreset, de tous leurs ennemis, aucun ne réussit à tenir devant eux. Tous leurs ennemis, Yahvé les livra entre leursmains.
45 Of al the promises that Yahweh had made to the House of Israel, not one failed; al were fulfilled.	45 De toutes les promesses que Yahvé avait faites à la maison d'Israël, aucune ne manqua son effet:tout se réalisa.
