Joshua 21

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The heads of families of the Levites then came to the priest, Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun and theheads of families of the tribes of Israel-	1 Los jefes de familia de los levitas se acercaron al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, hijo de Nun, y a los jefes de familia de las tribus israelitas,
2 they were then at Shiloh in Canaan. They said to them, 'Through Moses, Yahweh ordered us to begiven towns to live in, with their pasture lands for our livestock.'	2 que estaban en Silo, en el país de Canaán, y les dijeron: «El Señor ordenó por medio de Moisés que se nos asignaran algunas ciudades, a fin de que residiéramos en ellas, y también sus campos de pastoreo para nuestros ganados».
3 In compliance with Yahweh's order, the Israelites consequently and from their own heritage gave theLevites the fol owing towns with their pasture lands:	3 Entonces los israelitas, conforme a la orden del Señor, dieron a los levitas las siguientes ciudades con sus campos de pastoreo, tomándolas de sus propias posesiones.
4 Lots were cast for the clans of the Kohathites: to those Levites who were sons of Aaron the priest, felthirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin;	4 Se hizo el sorteo para los clanes de los quehatitas; y a los levitas descendientes de Aarón, el sacerdote, les tocaron en suerte trece ciudades de las tribus de Judá, de Simeón y de Benjamín;
5 to the other sons of Kohath, by clans,	5 a los clanes de los otros quehatitas les tocaron en suerte diez ciudades de las tribus de Efraím, de Dan y de la mitad de Manasés.
6 fel ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. To the sons of Gershon,by clans, fel thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh inBashan.	6 A los clanes de los gersonitas les tocaron en suerte trece ciudades de las tribus de Isacar, de Aser, de Neftalí y de la mitad de Manasés, en Basán.
7 To the sons of Merari, by clans, fel twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.	7 Y a los clanes de los meraritas les tocaron en suerte doce ciudades de las tribus de Rubén, de Gad y de Zabulón.
8 The Israelites assigned these towns and their pasture lands to the Levites by lot, as Yahweh hadordered through Moses.	8 Así los israelitas dieron a los levitas, mediante un sorteo, esas ciudades con sus campos de pastoreo, como el Señor lo había ordenado por medio de Moisés.
9 From the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon, they gave the towns named below.	9 Ellos les entregaron las ciudades de la tribu de Judá y de la tribu de Simeón que se nombran más adelante.
10 The first portion was for the sons of Aaron, belonging to the clans of the Kohathites, to the sons ofLevi, since the first lot was theirs.	10 Y como la primera suerte les tocó a los levitas que pertenecían a los clanes de los quehatitas y eran descendientes de Aarón,
11 They gave them Kiriath-Arba, Anak's father's town -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah, with itssurrounding pasture lands.	11 a ellos les dieron Quiriat Arbá –la ciudad de Arba, el padre de Anac, o sea, Hebrón– en la montaña de Judá, con los campos de pastoreo que tenía a su alrededor.
12 The fields and vil ages of this town, however, they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his property.	12 Los campos de cultivo y los poblados próximos a la ciudad, en cambio, ya habían sido dados a Caleb, hijo de Iefuné.
13 To the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, as wel as Libnah with its pasture lands,	13 Y Además de Hebrón –que era una ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– los israelitas dieron a los descendientes del sacerdote Aarón las ciudades de Libná,
14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,	14 Iatir, Estemoa,
15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,	15 Jolón, Debir,
16 Ashan with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, and Beth-Shemesh with its pasture lands:nine towns taken from these two tribes;	16 Ain, Iutá y Bet Semes, cada una con su respectivo campo de pastoreo: nueve ciudades de aquellas dos tribus.
17 and, from the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,	17 De la tribu de Benjamín les dieron Gabaón, Gueba,
18 Anathoth with its pasture lands and Almon with its pasture lands: four towns.	18 Anatot y Almón, todas con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
19 Total number of towns for the priests, the sons of Aaron: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.	19 Trece ciudades y sus campos de pastoreo era el total de las ciudades pertenecientes a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón.
20 As regards the clans of the sons of Kohath, those Levites stil left of the sons of Kohath, the towns oftheir lot were taken from the tribe of Ephraim.	20 A los clanes de los otros levitas descendientes de Quehat les tocaron en suerte ciudades de la tribu de Efraím.
21 They were given Shechem, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, in thehighlands of Ephraim, as wel as Gezer with its pasture lands,	21 A ellos les dieron Siquem, en la montaña de Efraím –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– con sus correspondientes campos de pastoreo, y también Guézer,
22 Kibzaim with its pasture lands, and Beth-Horon with its pasture lands: four towns;	22 Quibsaim, Bet Jorón, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
23 from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,	23 De la tribu de Dan les dieron Eltequé, Guibetón,
24 Aijalon with its pasture lands and Gath-Rimmon with its pasture lands: four towns;	24 Aialón, Gat Rimón, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
25 and, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasture lands and Jibleam with its pasturelands: two towns.	25 De la mitad de la tribu de Manasés les dieron Taanac e Ibleam, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: dos ciudades.
26 In al : ten towns with their pasture lands for the remaining clans of the sons of Kohath.	26 Eran en total diez ciudades, con sus campos de pastoreo, para los restantes clanes de los quehatitas.
27 To the sons of Gershon, of the levitical clans, were given: from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan inBashan, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands --two towns;	27 A los clanes levíticos de los gersonitas les dieron: de la mitad de la tribu de Manasés, Golán en Basán –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– y también Astarot, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
28 from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Dobrath with its pasture lands,	28 De la tribu de Isacar les dieron Quisión, Daberat,
29 Jarmuth with its pasture lands and En-Gannim with its pasture lands -- four towns;	29 Iarmut y En Ganím, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
30 from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,	30 De la tribu de Aser les dieron Misal, Abdón,
31 Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands -- four towns;	31 Jelcat y Rejob, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
32 and, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, Hammoth-Dor with its pasture lands and Kartan with its pasture lands -- three towns.	32 De la tribu de Neftalí les dieron Quedes en Galilea –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– Jamot Dor y Racat, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: tres ciudades.
33 Total number of towns of the Gershonites, by clans: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.	33 Las ciudades de los clanes de los gersonitas, con sus respectivos campos de pastoreo, eran trece en total.
34 To the clans of the sons of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, fel : from the tribe of Zebulun,Jokneam with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands,	34 El resto de los levitas, o sea, a los clanes de los meraritas les dieron: de la tribu de Zabulón, Iocneam, Cartá,
35 Rimmon with its pasture lands and Nahalal with its pasture lands -- four towns;	35 Rimón y Nahalal, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
36 on the other side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the desert, on thetableland, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,	36 De la tribu de Rubén, al otro lado del Jordán les dieron Beser –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– que está situada en el desierto, sobre el altiplano, y además Iahás,
37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands and Mephaath with its pasture lands -- four towns;	37 Quedemot y Mefaat, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
38 and, from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,	38 De la tribu de Gad, les dieron Ramot de Galaad –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– y además, Majanaim,
39 Heshbon with its pasture lands and Jazer with its pasture lands -- four towns.	39 Jesbón y Lázer, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
40 Total number of towns forming the lot of the sons of Merari by clans, of the remaining levitical clans:twelve towns.	40 En total, eran doce las ciudades asignadas mediante un sorteo al resto de los clanes levíticos, o sea, a los meraritas.
41 The total number of towns for the Levites in Israelite territory was forty-eight towns with their pasture lands.	41 Por lo tanto, las ciudades levíticas en medio de las posesiones de los israelitas eran cuarenta y ocho en total, con sus campos de pastoreo.
42 These towns consisted in each case of the town itself and the pasture land round it. This was thecase with all the towns.	42 Cada una de estas ciudades incluía, además de la ciudad, los campos de pastoreo que tenían a su alrededor. Lo mismo sucedía con todas las ciudades mencionadas.
43 This was how Yahweh gave the Israelites the entire country which he had sworn to give to theirancestors. They took possession of it and settled in it.	43 Así el Señor entregó a Israel todo el territorio que había jurado dar a sus padres. Los israelitas tomaron posesión de él y lo habitaron.
44 Yahweh granted them tranquil ity on all their frontiers just as he had sworn to their ancestors and, ofal their enemies, not one succeeded in resisting them. Yahweh put al their enemies at their mercy.	44 El Señor les dio la paz en todas sus fronteras, como lo había jurado a sus padres, y ninguno de sus enemigos pudo resistirles, porque el Señor se los entregó a todos.
45 Of al the promises that Yahweh had made to the House of Israel, not one failed; al were fulfilled.	45 Ni una sola de las admirables promesas que el Señor había hecho a los israelitas cayó en el vacío: todas se cumplieron.
