Ephesians 6

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord -- that is what uprightness demands.	1 Enfants, obéissez à vos parents, dans le Seigneur: cela est juste.
2 The first commandment that has a promise attached to it is: Honour your father and your mother,	2 Honore ton père et ta mère, tel est le premier commandement auquel soit attachée une promesse:
3 and the promise is: so that you may have long life and prosper in the land.	3 pour que tu t'en trouves bien et jouisses d'une longue vie sur la terre.
4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and adviceinspired by the Lord.	4 Et vous, parents, n'exaspérez pas vos enfants, mais usez, en les éduquant, de corrections et desemonces qui s'inspirent du Seigneur.
5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are, according to human reckoning, your masters, with deep respectand sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ:	5 Esclaves, obéissez à vos maîtres d'ici-bas avec crainte et tremblement, en simplicité de coeur,comme au Christ;
6 not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but as slaves ofChrist who wholeheartedly do the wil of God.	6 non d'une obéissance tout extérieure qui cherche à plaire aux hommes, mais comme des esclavesdu Christ, qui font avec âme la volonté de Dieu.
7 Work wil ingly for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of human beings.	7 Que votre service empressé s'adresse au Seigneur et non aux hommes,
8 Never forget that everyone, whether a slave or a free man, wil be rewarded by the Lord for whateverwork he has done wel .	8 dans l'assurance que chacun sera payé par le Seigneur selon ce qu'il aura fait de bien, qu'il soitesclave ou qu'il soit libre.
9 And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; do without threats, and neverforget that they and you have the same Master in heaven and there is no favouritism with him.	9 Et vous, maîtres, agissez de même à leur égard; laissez de côté les menaces, et dites-vous bienque, pour eux comme pour vous, le Maître est dans les cieux, et qu'il ne fait point acception des personnes.
10 Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.	10 En définitive, rendez-vous puissants dans le Seigneur et dans la vigueur de sa force.
11 Put on the ful armour of God so as to be able to resist the devil's tactics.	11 Revêtez l'armure de Dieu, pour pouvoir résister aux manoeuvres du diable.
12 For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and theruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.	12 Car ce n'est pas contre des adversaires de sang et de chair que nous avons à lutter, mais contreles Principautés, contre les Puissances, contre les Régisseurs de ce monde de ténèbres, contre les esprits du malqui habitent les espaces célestes.
13 That is why you must take up al God's armour, or you wil not be able to put up any resistance on theevil day, or stand your ground even though you exert yourselves to the ful .	13 C'est pour cela qu'il vous faut endosser l'armure de Dieu, afin qu'au jour mauvais vous puissiezrésister et, après avoir tout mis en oeuvre, rester fermes.
14 So stand your ground, with truth a belt round your waist, and uprightness a breastplate,	14 Tenez-vous donc debout, avec la Vérité pour ceinture, la Justice pour cuirasse,
15 wearing for shoes on your feet the eagerness to spread the gospel of peace	15 et pour chaussures le Zèle à propager l'Evangile de la paix;
16 and always carrying the shield of faith so that you can use it to quench the burning arrows of the EvilOne.	16 ayez toujours en main le bouclier de la Foi, grâce auquel vous pourrez éteindre tous les traitsenflammés du Mauvais;
17 And then you must take salvation as your helmet and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.	17 enfin recevez le casque du Salut et le glaive de l'Esprit, c'est-à-dire la Parole de Dieu.
18 In al your prayer and entreaty keep praying in the Spirit on every possible occasion. Never get tired ofstaying awake to pray for al God's holy people,	18 Vivez dans la prière et les supplications; priez en tout temps, dans l'Esprit; apportez-y unevigilance inlassable et intercédez pour tous les saints.
19 and pray for me to be given an opportunity to open my mouth and fearlessly make known the mysteryof the gospel	19 Priez aussi pour moi, afin qu'il me soit donné d'ouvrir la bouche pour parler et d'annoncerhardiment le Mystère de l'Evangile,
20 of which I am an ambassador in chains; pray that in proclaiming it I may speak as fearlessly as I oughtto.	20 dont je suis l'ambassadeur dans mes chaînes; obtenez-moi la hardiesse d'en parler comme je ledois.
21 So that you know, as well, what is happening to me and what I am doing, my dear friend Tychicus, mytrustworthy helper in the Lord, wil tel you everything.	21 Je désire que vous sachiez, vous aussi, où j'en suis et ce que je deviens; vous serez informés detout par Tychique, ce frère bien-aimé qui m'est un fidèle assistant dans le Seigneur.
22 I am sending him to you precisely for this purpose, to give you news about us and encourage youthoroughly.	22 Je vous l'envoie tout exprès pour vous donner de nos nouvelles et réconforter vos coeurs.
23 May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ grant peace, love and faith to al the brothers.	23 Que Dieu le Père et le Seigneur Jésus Christ accordent paix aux frères, ainsi que charité et foi.
24 May grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ, in life imperishable.	24 La grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, dans la vie incorruptible!
