Ephesians 6

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord -- that is what uprightness demands.	1 Vous, jeunes, obéissez à vos parents, car c’est un devoir.
2 The first commandment that has a promise attached to it is: Honour your father and your mother,	2 Honore ton père et ta mère: c’est le premier commandement accompagné d’une promesse:
3 and the promise is: so that you may have long life and prosper in the land.	3 afin que tu réussisses et que tu aies longue vie sur la terre.
4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and adviceinspired by the Lord.	4 Et vous, pères, ne soyez pas énervants avec vos enfants, mais éduquez-les avec des corrections et remontrances inspirées du Seigneur.
5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are, according to human reckoning, your masters, with deep respectand sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ:	5 Vous, esclaves, quand vous obéissez à vos maîtres de la terre, que ce soit un respect attentif et sincère, comme pour le Seigneur.
6 not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but as slaves ofChrist who wholeheartedly do the wil of God.	6 Ne regardez pas si on vous surveille ou si vous serez bien considérés: vous êtes des serviteurs du Christ qui font d’eux-mêmes la volonté de Dieu.
7 Work wil ingly for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of human beings.	7 Soyez consciencieux dans votre service: vous le faites pour le Seigneur, non pour les hommes,
8 Never forget that everyone, whether a slave or a free man, wil be rewarded by the Lord for whateverwork he has done wel .	8 et vous savez que le Seigneur rendra à chacun le bien qu’il a fait, qu’il soit esclave ou homme libre.
9 And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; do without threats, and neverforget that they and you have the same Master in heaven and there is no favouritism with him.	9 Quant à vous, patrons, agissez de même avec vos serviteurs au lieu de crier sur eux: vous savez bien que dans les cieux le Seigneur est le même pour eux et pour vous, et qu’il ne fait pas de différence entre les personnes.
10 Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.	10 À part cela, devenez forts dans le Seigneur, grâce à sa force et sa puissance.
11 Put on the ful armour of God so as to be able to resist the devil's tactics.	11 Portez sur vous toutes les armes de Dieu, de façon à repousser toutes les attaques du diable.
12 For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and theruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.	12 Car nos ennemis ne sont pas de chair et de sang: ce sont les Principautés, les Autorités, les maîtres de ce monde obscur, les forces spirituelles mauvaises du monde supérieur.
13 That is why you must take up al God's armour, or you wil not be able to put up any resistance on theevil day, or stand your ground even though you exert yourselves to the ful .	13 Ayez donc toutes les armes de Dieu, de façon à résister dans les jours difficiles et à défendre votre terrain par tous les moyens.
14 So stand your ground, with truth a belt round your waist, and uprightness a breastplate,	14 Vous tiendrez bon si vous avez la vérité pour ceinturon, la droiture pour cuirasse.
15 wearing for shoes on your feet the eagerness to spread the gospel of peace	15 Soyez bien chaussés: préparez les chemins pour l’Évangile de la paix.
16 and always carrying the shield of faith so that you can use it to quench the burning arrows of the EvilOne.	16 Ne lâchez jamais le bouclier de la foi avec lequel vous éteindrez les flèches incendiaires du Mauvais.
17 And then you must take salvation as your helmet and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.	17 Portez le casque du salut et l’épée de l’Esprit, c’est-à-dire la Parole de Dieu.
18 In al your prayer and entreaty keep praying in the Spirit on every possible occasion. Never get tired ofstaying awake to pray for al God's holy people,	18 En toute occasion priez dans l’Esprit: demandez et suppliez. Restez éveillés, persévérant et priant pour tous les saints.
19 and pray for me to be given an opportunity to open my mouth and fearlessly make known the mysteryof the gospel	19 Priez aussi pour moi, pour que la parole me vienne quand j’ai à parler, et que je sois plein d’assurance pour faire connaître le mystère de l’Évangile quand j’aurai à présenter ma défense.
20 of which I am an ambassador in chains; pray that in proclaiming it I may speak as fearlessly as I oughtto.	20 J’en suis pour l’instant l’ambassadeur enchaîné, il convient que j’en parle avec pleine assurance.
21 So that you know, as well, what is happening to me and what I am doing, my dear friend Tychicus, mytrustworthy helper in the Lord, wil tel you everything.	21 Si vous voulez de mes nouvelles, vous en aurez par Tychique, ce frère bien-aimé qui est un fidèle serviteur dans le Christ: il vous dira où j’en suis.
22 I am sending him to you precisely for this purpose, to give you news about us and encourage youthoroughly.	22 Je vous l’envoie précisément pour que vous ayez de nos nouvelles, et pour vous réconforter.
23 May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ grant peace, love and faith to al the brothers.	23 Que tous les frères reçoivent de Dieu le Père et du Seigneur Jésus Christ la paix, l’amour et la foi.
24 May grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ, in life imperishable.	24 Que la grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur, d’un amour sans mélange.
