Luke 20

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Now it happened that one day while he was teaching the people in the Temple and proclaiming thegood news, the chief priests and the scribes came up, together with the elders,	1 ED avvenne un di que’ giorni, che, mentre egli insegnava il popolo nel tempio, ed evangelizzava, i principali sacerdoti, e gli Scribi, con gli anziani, sopraggiunsero.
2 and spoke to him. 'Tel us,' they said, 'what authority have you for acting like this? Or who gives youthis authority?'	2 E gli dissero: Dicci di quale autorità tu fai coteste cose; o, chi è colui che ti ha data cotesta autorità.
3 In reply he said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one. Tel me:	3 Ed egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Anch’io vi domanderò una cosa; e voi ditemela:
4 John's baptism: what was its origin, heavenly or human?'	4 Il battesimo di Giovanni era egli dal cielo, o dagli uomini?
5 And they debated this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he will retort, "Why did you refuseto believe him?";	5 Ed essi ragionavan fra loro, dicendo: Se diciamo che era dal cielo, egli ci dirà: Perchè dunque non gli credeste?
6 and if we say human, the whole people wil stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.'	6 Se altresì diciamo che era dagli uomini, tutto il popolo ci lapiderà; perciocchè egli è persuaso che Giovanni era profeta.
7 So their reply was that they did not know where it came from.	7 Risposero adunque che non sapevano onde egli fosse.
8 And Jesus said to them, 'Nor wil I tell you my authority for acting like this.'	8 E Gesù disse loro: Io ancora non vi dirò di quale autorità io fo queste cose
9 And he went on to tel the people this parable, 'A man planted a vineyard and leased it to tenants, andwent abroad for a long while.	9 POI prese a dire al popolo questa parabola. Un uomo piantò una vigna, e l’allogò a certi lavoratori, e se ne andò in viaggio, e dimorò fuori lungo tempo.
10 When the right time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get his share of the produce of thevineyard. But the tenants thrashed him, and sent him away empty-handed.	10 E nella stagione mandò un servitore a que’ lavoratori, acciocchè gli desser del frutto della vigna; ma i lavoratori, battutolo, lo rimandarono vuoto.
11 But he went on to send a second servant; they thrashed him too and treated him shamefully and senthim away empty-handed.	11 Ed egli di nuovo vi mandò un altro servitore; ma essi, battuto ancora lui, e vituperatolo, lo rimandarono vuoto.
12 He still went on to send a third; they wounded this one too, and threw him out.	12 Ed egli ne mandò ancora un terzo; ma essi, ferito ancora costui, lo cacciarono.
13 Then the owner of the vineyard thought, "What am I to do? I wil send them my own beloved son.Perhaps they wil respect him."	13 E il signor della vigna disse: Che farò? io vi manderò il mio diletto figliuolo; forse, quando lo vedranno, gli porteranno rispetto.
14 But when the tenants saw him they put their heads together saying, "This is the heir, let us kil him sothat the inheritance wil be ours."	14 Ma i lavoratori, vedutolo, ragionaron fra loro, dicendo: Costui è l’erede; venite, uccidiamolo, acciocchè l’eredità divenga nostra.
15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 'Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do tothem?	15 E, cacciatolo fuor della vigna, l’uccisero. Che farà loro adunque il signor della vigna?
16 He wil come and make an end of these tenants and give the vineyard to others.' Hearing this theysaid, 'God forbid!'	16 Egli verrà, e distruggerà que’ lavoratori, e darà la vigna ad altri. Ma essi, udito ciò, dissero: Così non sia.
17 But he looked hard at them and said, 'Then what does this text in the scriptures mean: The stonewhich the builders rejected has become the cornerstone?	17 Ed egli, riguardatili in faccia, disse: Che cosa adunque è questo ch’è scritto: La pietra che gli edificatori hanno riprovata è divenuta il capo del cantone?
18 Anyone who fal s on that stone will be dashed to pieces; anyone it fal s on wil be crushed.'	18 Chiunque caderà sopra quella pietra sarà fiaccato, ed ella triterà colui sopra cui ella caderà.
19 And the scribes and the chief priests would have liked to lay hands on him that very moment,because they realised that this parable was aimed at them, but they were afraid of the people.	19 ED i principali sacerdoti, e gli Scribi, cercavano in quella stessa ora di mettergli le mani addosso, perciocchè riconobbero ch’egli avea detta quella parabola contro a loro; ma temettero il popolo
20 So they awaited their opportunity and sent agents to pose as upright men, and to catch him out insomething he might say and so enable them to hand him over to the jurisdiction and authority of the governor.	20 E, spiandolo, gli mandarono degl’insidiatori, che simulassero d’esser giusti, per soprapprenderlo in parole; per darlo in man della signoria, ed alla podestà del governatore.
21 They put to him this question, 'Master, we know that you say and teach what is right; you favour noone, but teach the way of God in al honesty.	21 E quelli gli fecero una domanda, dicendo: Maestro, noi sappiamo che tu parli ed insegni dirittamente, e che non hai riguardo alla qualità delle persone, ma insegni la via di Dio in verità;
22 Is it permissible for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?'	22 ecci egli lecito di pagare il tributo a Cesare, o no?
23 But he was aware of their cunning and said,	23 Ed egli, avvedutosi della loro astuzia, disse loro: Perchè mi tentate?
24 'Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and title are on it?' They said, 'Caesar's.'	24 Mostratemi un denaro; di cui porta egli la figura, e la soprascritta? Ed essi, rispondendo, dissero: Di Cesare.
25 He said to them, 'Well then, pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.'	25 Ed egli disse loro: Rendete adunque a Cesare le cose di Cesare, e a Dio le cose di Dio.
26 They were unable to catch him out in anything he had to say in public; they were amazed at hisanswer and were silenced.	26 E non lo poterono soprapprendere in parole davanti al popolo; e, maravigliatisi della sua risposta, si tacquero
27 Some Sadducees -- those who argue that there is no resurrection -- approached him and they putthis question to him,	27 OR alcuni de’ Sadducei, i quali pretendono non esservi risurrezione, accostatisi, lo domandarono, dicendo:
28 'Master, Moses prescribed for us, if a man's married brother dies childless, the man must marry thewidow to raise up children for his brother.	28 Maestro, Mosè ci ha scritto, che se il fratello d’alcuno muore avendo moglie, e muore senza figliuoli, il suo fratello prenda la moglie, e susciti progenie al suo fratello.
29 Wel then, there were seven brothers; the first, having married a wife, died childless.	29 Or vi furono sette fratelli; e il primo, presa moglie, morì senza figliuoli.
30 The second	30 E il secondo prese quella moglie, e morì anch’egli senza figliuoli.
31 and then the third married the widow. And the same with al seven, they died leaving no children.	31 Poi il terzo la prese; e simigliantemente tutti e sette; e morirono senza aver lasciati figliuoli.
32 Finally the woman herself died.	32 Ora, dopo tutti, morì anche la donna.
33 Now, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be, since she had been married to all seven?'	33 Nella risurrezione adunque, di chi di loro sarà ella moglie? poichè tutti e sette l’hanno avuta per moglie.
34 Jesus replied, 'The children of this world take wives and husbands,	34 E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: I figliuoli di questo secolo sposano, e son maritati;
35 but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the deaddo not marry	35 ma coloro che saranno reputati degni d’ottener quel secolo, e la risurrezion de’ morti, non isposano, e non son maritati.
36 because they can no longer die, for they are the same as the angels, and being children of theresurrection they are children of God.	36 Perciocchè ancora non possono più morire; poichè siano pari agli angeli; e son figliuoli di Dio, essendo figliuoli della risurrezione.
37 And Moses himself implies that the dead rise again, in the passage about the bush where he cal s theLord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.	37 Or che i morti risuscitino, Mosè stesso lo dichiarò presso al pruno, quando egli nomina il Signore l’Iddio d’Abrahamo, e l’Iddio d’Isacco, e l’Iddio di Giacobbe.
38 Now he is God, not of the dead, but of the living; for to him everyone is alive.'	38 Or egli non è Dio de’ morti, anzi de’ viventi; poichè tutti vivono per lui
39 Some scribes then spoke up. They said, 'Wel put, Master.'	39 Ed alcuni degli Scribi gli fecer motto, e dissero: Maestro, bene hai detto.
40 They did not dare to ask him any more questions.	40 E non ardirono più fargli alcuna domanda.
41 He then said to them, 'How can people maintain that the Christ is son of David?	41 ED egli disse loro: Come dicono che il Cristo sia figliuolo di Davide?
42 Why, David himself says in the Book of Psalms: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand,	42 E pur Davide stesso, nel libro de’ Salmi, dice: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra,
43 til I have made your enemies your footstool.	43 finchè io abbia posti i tuoi nemici per iscannello de’ tuoi piedi.
44 David here cal s him Lord; how then can he be his son?'	44 Davide adunque lo chiama Signore. E come è egli suo figliuolo?
45 While al the people were listening he said to the disciples,	45 ORA, mentre tutto il popolo stava ascoltando, egli disse a’ suoi discepoli.
46 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes and love to be greeted respectfully in themarket squares, to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets,	46 Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali volentieri passeggiano in vesti lunghe, ed amano le salutazioni nelle piazze, e i primi seggi nelle raunanze, e i primi luoghi ne’ conviti.
47 who devour the property of widows, and for show offer long prayers. The more severe will be thesentence they receive.'	47 I quali divorano le case delle vedove, eziandio sotto specie di far lunghe orazioni; essi ne riceveranno maggior condannazione
