Luke 20

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Now it happened that one day while he was teaching the people in the Temple and proclaiming thegood news, the chief priests and the scribes came up, together with the elders,	1 Un giorno, mentre istruiva il popolo nel tempio e annunciava il Vangelo, sopraggiunsero i capi dei sacerdoti e gli scribi con gli anziani
2 and spoke to him. 'Tel us,' they said, 'what authority have you for acting like this? Or who gives youthis authority?'	2 e si rivolsero a lui dicendo: «Spiegaci con quale autorità fai queste cose o chi è che ti ha dato questa autorità».
3 In reply he said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one. Tel me:	3 E Gesù rispose loro: «Anch’io vi farò una domanda. Ditemi:
4 John's baptism: what was its origin, heavenly or human?'	4 il battesimo di Giovanni veniva dal cielo o dagli uomini?».
5 And they debated this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he will retort, "Why did you refuseto believe him?";	5 Allora essi ragionavano fra loro dicendo: «Se diciamo: “Dal cielo”, risponderà: “Perché non gli avete creduto?”.
6 and if we say human, the whole people wil stone us, for they are convinced that John was a prophet.'	6 Se invece diciamo: “Dagli uomini”, tutto il popolo ci lapiderà, perché è convinto che Giovanni sia un profeta».
7 So their reply was that they did not know where it came from.	7 Risposero quindi di non saperlo.
8 And Jesus said to them, 'Nor wil I tell you my authority for acting like this.'	8 E Gesù disse loro: «Neanch’io vi dico con quale autorità faccio queste cose».
9 And he went on to tel the people this parable, 'A man planted a vineyard and leased it to tenants, andwent abroad for a long while.	9 Poi prese a dire al popolo questa parabola: «Un uomo piantò una vigna, la diede in affitto a dei contadini e se ne andò lontano per molto tempo.
10 When the right time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get his share of the produce of thevineyard. But the tenants thrashed him, and sent him away empty-handed.	10 Al momento opportuno, mandò un servo dai contadini perché gli dessero la sua parte del raccolto della vigna. Ma i contadini lo bastonarono e lo mandarono via a mani vuote.
11 But he went on to send a second servant; they thrashed him too and treated him shamefully and senthim away empty-handed.	11 Mandò un altro servo, ma essi bastonarono anche questo, lo insultarono e lo mandarono via a mani vuote.
12 He still went on to send a third; they wounded this one too, and threw him out.	12 Ne mandò ancora un terzo, ma anche questo lo ferirono e lo cacciarono via.
13 Then the owner of the vineyard thought, "What am I to do? I wil send them my own beloved son.Perhaps they wil respect him."	13 Disse allora il padrone della vigna: “Che cosa devo fare? Manderò mio figlio, l’amato, forse avranno rispetto per lui!”.
14 But when the tenants saw him they put their heads together saying, "This is the heir, let us kil him sothat the inheritance wil be ours."	14 Ma i contadini, appena lo videro, fecero tra loro questo ragionamento: “Costui è l’erede. Uccidiamolo e così l’eredità sarà nostra!”.
15 So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 'Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do tothem?	15 Lo cacciarono fuori della vigna e lo uccisero. Che cosa farà dunque a costoro il padrone della vigna?
16 He wil come and make an end of these tenants and give the vineyard to others.' Hearing this theysaid, 'God forbid!'	16 Verrà, farà morire quei contadini e darà la vigna ad altri». Udito questo, dissero: «Non sia mai!».
17 But he looked hard at them and said, 'Then what does this text in the scriptures mean: The stonewhich the builders rejected has become the cornerstone?	17 Allora egli fissò lo sguardo su di loro e disse: «Che cosa significa dunque questa parola della Scrittura: La pietra che i costruttori hanno scartato è diventata la pietra d’angolo?
18 Anyone who fal s on that stone will be dashed to pieces; anyone it fal s on wil be crushed.'	18 Chiunque cadrà su quella pietra si sfracellerà e colui sul quale essa cadrà verrà stritolato».
19 And the scribes and the chief priests would have liked to lay hands on him that very moment,because they realised that this parable was aimed at them, but they were afraid of the people.	19 In quel momento gli scribi e i capi dei sacerdoti cercarono di mettergli le mani addosso, ma ebbero paura del popolo. Avevano capito infatti che quella parabola l’aveva detta per loro.
20 So they awaited their opportunity and sent agents to pose as upright men, and to catch him out insomething he might say and so enable them to hand him over to the jurisdiction and authority of the governor.	20 Si misero a spiarlo e mandarono informatori, che si fingessero persone giuste, per coglierlo in fallo nel parlare e poi consegnarlo all’autorità e al potere del governatore.
21 They put to him this question, 'Master, we know that you say and teach what is right; you favour noone, but teach the way of God in al honesty.	21 Costoro lo interrogarono: «Maestro, sappiamo che parli e insegni con rettitudine e non guardi in faccia a nessuno, ma insegni qual è la via di Dio secondo verità.
22 Is it permissible for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?'	22 È lecito, o no, che noi paghiamo la tassa a Cesare?».
23 But he was aware of their cunning and said,	23 Rendendosi conto della loro malizia, disse:
24 'Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and title are on it?' They said, 'Caesar's.'	24 «Mostratemi un denaro: di chi porta l’immagine e l’iscrizione?». Risposero: «Di Cesare».
25 He said to them, 'Well then, pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.'	25 Ed egli disse: «Rendete dunque quello che è di Cesare a Cesare e quello che è di Dio a Dio».
26 They were unable to catch him out in anything he had to say in public; they were amazed at hisanswer and were silenced.	26 Così non riuscirono a coglierlo in fallo nelle sue parole di fronte al popolo e, meravigliati della sua risposta, tacquero.
27 Some Sadducees -- those who argue that there is no resurrection -- approached him and they putthis question to him,	27 Gli si avvicinarono alcuni sadducei – i quali dicono che non c’è risurrezione – e gli posero questa domanda:
28 'Master, Moses prescribed for us, if a man's married brother dies childless, the man must marry thewidow to raise up children for his brother.	28 «Maestro, Mosè ci ha prescritto: Se muore il fratello di qualcuno che ha moglie, ma è senza figli, suo fratello prenda la moglie e dia una discendenza al proprio fratello.
29 Wel then, there were seven brothers; the first, having married a wife, died childless.	29 C’erano dunque sette fratelli: il primo, dopo aver preso moglie, morì senza figli.
30 The second	30 Allora la prese il secondo
31 and then the third married the widow. And the same with al seven, they died leaving no children.	31 e poi il terzo e così tutti e sette morirono senza lasciare figli.
32 Finally the woman herself died.	32 Da ultimo morì anche la donna.
33 Now, at the resurrection, whose wife will she be, since she had been married to all seven?'	33 La donna dunque, alla risurrezione, di chi sarà moglie? Poiché tutti e sette l’hanno avuta in moglie».
34 Jesus replied, 'The children of this world take wives and husbands,	34 Gesù rispose loro: «I figli di questo mondo prendono moglie e prendono marito;
35 but those who are judged worthy of a place in the other world and in the resurrection from the deaddo not marry	35 ma quelli che sono giudicati degni della vita futura e della risurrezione dai morti, non prendono né moglie né marito:
36 because they can no longer die, for they are the same as the angels, and being children of theresurrection they are children of God.	36 infatti non possono più morire, perché sono uguali agli angeli e, poiché sono figli della risurrezione, sono figli di Dio.
37 And Moses himself implies that the dead rise again, in the passage about the bush where he cal s theLord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.	37 Che poi i morti risorgano, lo ha indicato anche Mosè a proposito del roveto, quando dice: Il Signore è il Dio di Abramo, Dio di Isacco e Dio di Giacobbe.
38 Now he is God, not of the dead, but of the living; for to him everyone is alive.'	38 Dio non è dei morti, ma dei viventi; perché tutti vivono per lui».
39 Some scribes then spoke up. They said, 'Wel put, Master.'	39 Dissero allora alcuni scribi: «Maestro, hai parlato bene».
40 They did not dare to ask him any more questions.	40 E non osavano più rivolgergli alcuna domanda.
41 He then said to them, 'How can people maintain that the Christ is son of David?	41 Allora egli disse loro: «Come mai si dice che il Cristo è figlio di Davide,
42 Why, David himself says in the Book of Psalms: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand,	42 se Davide stesso nel libro dei Salmi dice: Disse il Signore al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra
43 til I have made your enemies your footstool.	43 finché io ponga i tuoi nemici come sgabello dei tuoi piedi?
44 David here cal s him Lord; how then can he be his son?'	44 Davide dunque lo chiama Signore; perciò, come può essere suo figlio?».
45 While al the people were listening he said to the disciples,	45 Mentre tutto il popolo ascoltava, disse ai suoi discepoli:
46 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes and love to be greeted respectfully in themarket squares, to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets,	46 «Guardatevi dagli scribi, che vogliono passeggiare in lunghe vesti e si compiacciono di essere salutati nelle piazze, di avere i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe e i primi posti nei banchetti;
47 who devour the property of widows, and for show offer long prayers. The more severe will be thesentence they receive.'	47 divorano le case delle vedove e pregano a lungo per farsi vedere. Essi riceveranno una condanna più severa».
