Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said:1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron, dicens :
'Speak to the Israelites and say to them: "When a man has a discharge from his body, that dischargeis unclean.2 Loquimini filiis Israël, et dicite eis : Vir, qui patitur fluxum seminis, immundus erit.
While the discharge continues, the nature of his uncleanness is as fol ows: "Whether his body al owsthe discharge to flow or whether it retains it, he is unclean.3 Et tunc judicabitur huic vitio subjacere, cum per singula momenta adhæserit carni ejus, atque concreverit fœdus humor.
"Any bed the man lies on and anything he sits on wil be unclean.4 Omne stratum, in quo dormierit, immundum erit, et ubicumque sederit.
"Anyone who touches his bed must wash clothing and body and will be unclean until evening.5 Si quis hominum tetigerit lectum ejus, lavabit vestimenta sua, et ipse lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
"Anyone who sits where the man has sat must wash clothing and body and will be unclean untilevening.6 Si sederit ubi ille sederat, et ipse lavabit vestimenta sua : et lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
"Anyone who touches the body of the man with the discharge must wash clothing and body and wil beunclean until evening.7 Qui tetigerit carnem ejus, lavabit vestimenta sua : et ipse lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
"If the man with the discharge spits on someone who is clean, that person must wash clothing andbody and wil be unclean until evening.8 Si salivam hujuscemodi homo jecerit super eum qui mundus est, lavabit vestimenta sua : et lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
"Any saddle the man has ridden on wil be unclean.9 Sagma, super quo sederit, immundum erit :
"Al those who touch any object that has been under him wil be unclean until evening. "Anyone whopicks up such an object must wash clothing and body and wil be unclean until evening.10 et quidquid sub eo fuerit, qui fluxum seminis patitur, pollutum erit usque ad vesperum. Qui portaverit horum aliquid, lavabit vestimenta sua : et ipse lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
"Al those whom the man with the discharge touches without having washed his hands must washclothing and body and wil be unclean until evening.11 Omnis, quem tetigerit qui talis est, non lotis ante manibus, lavabit vestimenta sua, et lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
"The earthenware vessel he touches must be broken and any wooden utensil must be rinsed.12 Vas fictile quod tetigerit confringetur : vas autem ligneum lavabitur aqua.
"Once the man with the discharge is cured, he will al ow seven days for his purification. He wil washhis clothes and wash his body in running water and he wil be clean.13 Si sanatus fuerit qui hujuscemodi sustinet passionem, numerabit septem dies post emundationem sui, et lotis vestibus et toto corpore in aquis viventibus, erit mundus.
On the eighth day he wil take two turtledoves or two young pigeons and come before Yahweh at theentrance to the Tent of Meeting and give them to the priest.14 Die autem octavo sumet duos turtures, aut duos pullos columbæ, et veniet in conspectum Domini ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii, dabitque eos sacerdoti :
The priest wil offer one of them as a sacrifice for sin and the other as a burnt offering. And in this waythe priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh for his discharge.15 qui faciet unum pro peccato et alterum in holocaustum : rogabitque pro eo coram Domino, ut emundetur a fluxi seminis sui.
"When a man has a seminal discharge, he must wash his whole body with water and wil be uncleanuntil evening.16 Vir de quo egreditur semen coitus, lavabit aqua omne corpus suum : et immundus erit usque ad vesperum.
Any clothing or leather touched by the seminal discharge must be washed and wil be unclean untilevening.17 Vestem et pellem, quam habuerit, lavabit aqua, et immunda erit usque ad vesperum.
When a woman has had intercourse with a man, both of them must wash and wil be unclean untilevening.18 Mulier, cum qua coierit, lavabitur aqua, et immunda erit usque ad vesperum.
"Whenever a woman has a discharge and the discharge from her body is of blood, she wil remain ina state of menstrual pol ution for seven days. "Anyone who touches her wil be unclean until evening.19 Mulier, quæ redeunte mense patitur fluxum sanguinis, septem diebus separabitur.
"Anything she lies on in this pol uted state will be unclean; anything she sits on wil be unclean.20 Omnis qui tetigerit eam, immundus erit usque ad vesperum :
"Anyone who touches her bed must wash clothing and body and wil be unclean until evening.21 et in quo dormierit vel sederit diebus separationis suæ, polluetur.
"Anyone who touches anything she has sat on must wash clothing and body and will be unclean untilevening.22 Qui tetigerit lectum ejus, lavabit vestimenta sua : et ipse lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperum.

"If a man goes so far as to sleep with her, he wil contract her menstrual pollution and will be uncleanfor seven days. Any bed he lies on wil be unclean.24 Si coierit cum ea vir tempore sanguinis menstrualis, immundus erit septem diebus : et omne stratum, in quo dormierit, polluetur.
"If a woman has a prolonged discharge of blood outside the period, or if the period is prolonged, during the time this discharge lasts she wil be in the same state of uncleanness as during her monthly periods.25 Mulier, quæ patitur multis diebus fluxum sanguinis non in tempore menstruali, vel quæ post menstruum sanguinem fluere non cessat, quamdiu subjacet huic passioni, immunda erit quasi sit in tempore menstruo.
Any bed she lies on during the time this discharge lasts will be pol uted in the same way as the bedshe lies on during her monthly periods. Anything she sits on wil be unclean as during her monthly periods.26 Omne stratum, in quo dormierit, et vas in quo sederit, pollutum erit.
Anyone who touches it wil be unclean and must wash clothing and body and will be unclean untilevening.27 Quicumque tetigerit ea, lavabit vestimenta sua : et ipse lotus aqua, immundus erit usque ad vesperam.
"Once she is cured of her discharge, she will allow seven days to go by; after that she will be clean.28 Si steterit sanguis, et fluere cessaverit, numerabit septem dies purificationis suæ :
On the eighth day she wil take two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest atthe entrance to the Tent of Meeting.29 et die octavo offeret pro se sacerdoti duos turtures, aut duos pullos columbarum, ad ostium tabernaculi testimonii :
The priest wil offer one of them as a sacrifice for sin and the other as a burnt offering. And in this waythe priest wil perform the rite of expiation for her before Yahweh for the discharge which made her unclean.30 qui unum faciet pro peccato, et alterum in holocaustum, rogabitque pro ea coram Domino, et pro fluxu immunditiæ ejus.
"Hence you will warn the Israelites against contracting a state of uncleanness, rather than incurringdeath by defiling my Dwel ing which is among them.31 Docebitis ergo filios Israël ut caveant immunditiam, et non moriantur in sordibus suis, cum polluerint tabernaculum meum quod est inter eos.
