NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Yahweh, remember what has happened to us; consider, and see our degradation.	1 Ricordati, Signore, di quanto ci è accaduto, guarda e vedi il nostro ludibrio!
2 Our heritage has passed to strangers, our homes to foreigners.	2 La nostra eredità è passata a stranieri, le nostre case a sconosciuti.
3 We are orphans, we are fatherless; our mothers are like widows.	3 Orfani siamo diventati, senza padre, le nostre madri sono come vedove.
4 We have to buy our own water to drink, our own wood we can get only at a price.	4 Beviamo la nostra acqua a prezzo d'argento, acquistiamo a pagamento la nostra legna.
5 The yoke is on our necks; we are persecuted; exhausted we are, al owed no rest.	5 Con un giogo sul collo siamo inseguiti: siamo esausti e non ci è dato riposo.
6 We made a pact with Egypt, with Assyria, to have plenty of food.	6 All'Egitto abbiamo teso la mano, all'Assiria, per saziarci di pane.
7 Our ancestors sinned; they are no more, and we bear the weight of their guilt.	7 I nostri padri hanno peccato e non sono più, a noi sono addossate le loro colpe.
8 Slaves rule us; there is no one to rescue us from their clutches.	8 Schiavi signoreggiano su di noi, nessuno può strapparci dalle loro mani.
9 At peril of our lives we earn our bread, by risking the sword of the desert.	9 A rischio della nostra vita ci procuriamo il pane dinanzi alla spada del deserto.
10 Our skin is as hot as an oven, from the scorch of famine.	10 La nostra pelle s'è screpolata come un forno per l'ardore della fame.
11 The women in Zion have been raped, the young girls in the towns of Judah.	11 Alle donne hanno fatto oltraggio in Sion, alle vergini nella città di Giuda.
12 Princes have been hanged by their hands; the face of the old has won no respect.	12 Hanno impiccato i nobili con le loro mani, non è stato onorato il volto dei vegliardi.
13 Youths have been put to the mil , boys stagger under loads of wood.	13 I giovani sono stati aggiogati alla macina di grano, i ragazzi sono caduti sotto il carico di legna.
14 The elders have deserted the gateway; the young have given up their music.	14 I vegliardi hanno cessato di adunarsi alla porta, i giovani hanno cessato le loro canzoni.
15 Joy has vanished from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.	15 E' finita la gioia del nostro cuore: s'è volta in lutto la nostra danza.
16 The crown has fallen from our heads. Alas that ever we sinned!	16 E' caduta la corona dal nostro capo: guai a noi che abbiamo peccato!
17 This is why our hearts are sick; this is why our eyes are dim:	17 Per questo s'è ammalato il nostro cuore, per questo si sono intorbiditi i nostri occhi:
18 because Mount Zion is desolate; jackals roam to and fro on it.	18 per il monte Sion, che è desolato: lo percorrono le volpi.
19 Yet you, Yahweh, rule from eternity; your throne endures from age to age.	19 Ma tu, Signore, resti per sempre, il tuo trono è di generazione in generazione.
20 Why do you never remember us? Why do you abandon us so long?	20 Perché ci dimenticherai in eterno? Ci abbandonerai per la lunghezza dei giorni?
21 Make us come back to you, Yahweh, and we will come back. Restore us as we were before!	21 Facci ritornare a te, Signore, e noi ritorneremo, rinnova i nostri giorni come in antico!
22 Unless you have utterly rejected us, in an anger which knows no limit.	22 Poiché non ci rigetti definitivamente né sei sdegnato oltre misura contro di noi.
