Proverbs 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Wisdom has built herself a house, she has hewn her seven pil ars,	1 La sapienza si è fabbricata una casa, ha lavorate le sue? sette colonne,
2 she has slaughtered her beasts, drawn her wine, she has laid her table.	2 ha immolate le sue vittime, ha mescolato il suo vano, ha imbandita la sua mensa,
3 She has despatched her maidservants and proclaimed from the heights above the city,	3 ha mandate le sue ancelle ad invitare. Dalla rocca, dalle mura della città (grida):
4 'Who is simple? Let him come this way.' To the fool she says,	4 « Chi è fanciullo venga a me »: e agli insensati ha detto:
5 'Come and eat my bread, drink the wine which I have drawn!	5 « Venite, mangiate il mio pane e bevete il vino che ho dosato per voi.
6 Leave foolishness behind and you wil live, go forwards in the ways of perception.'	6 Abbandonate la fanciullaggine, e vivrete, battete le vie della prudenza ».
7 Reprove a mocker and you attract contempt, rebuke the wicked and you attract dishonour.	7 Chi corregge il beffardo fa ingiuria a se stesso e ehi riprende l'empio si contamina.
8 Do not rebuke the mocker, he wil hate you. Rebuke the wise and he wil love you for it.	8 Non riprendere il beffardo, per non farti odiare, correggi il saggio ed egli t'amerà.
9 Be open with the wise, he grows wiser stil , teach the upright, he wil gain yet more.	9 Porgi al saggio l'occasione ed egli crescerà in sapienza, istruisci il giusto, ed egli sarà sollecito d'imparare.
10 The first principle of wisdom is the fear of Yahweh, What God's holy ones know -- this isunderstanding.	10 Principio della sapienza è il timor di Dio, e la prudenza è la scienza dei santi.
11 For by me your days wil be multiplied, and your years of life increased.	11 Perchè per me saran moltiplicati i tuoi giorni, ti saranno aggiunti anni di vita.
12 Are you wise? You are wise to your own good. A mocker? The burden is yours alone.	12 Se tu sarai sapiente, lo sarai a tuo vantaggio, se sarai beffardo, tu solo ne porterai la pena.
13 A silly woman acts on impulse, is foolish and knows nothing.	13 (La follia è) una donna senza cervello e rumorosa, piena di lusinghe, e che non sa assolutamente nulla.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a throne high up in the city,	14 Sta seduta alla porta di casa sua, sopra una sedia, nel luogo più eminente della città,
15 cal ing to the passers-by, who are walking straight past on their way,	15 per chiamare chi passa e chi va per la sua strada:
16 'Who is simple? Turn aside, come over here.' To the fool she says,	16 « Chi è fanciullo venga a me ». Essa dice a chi è privo di senno:
17 'Stolen waters are sweet, and bread tastes better when eaten in secret.'	17 «Le acque furtive son più dolci, e il pane (mangiato) di nascosto è più gustoso ».
18 But the fool does not know that this is where the Shades are and that her guests are already in thevales of Sheol.	18 Ma egli non sa che là ci sono i giganti, e che i suoi convitati sono nel profondo dell'inferno.
