Proverbs 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Wisdom has built herself a house, she has hewn her seven pil ars,	1 - La Sapienza si è fabbricata una casa, ha tagliato sette colonne,
2 she has slaughtered her beasts, drawn her wine, she has laid her table.	2 macellò le sue carni, mescè il vino, imbandì la sua mensa;
3 She has despatched her maidservants and proclaimed from the heights above the city,	3 ad invitare mandò le sue ancellealla cittadella ed ai bastioni della città:
4 'Who is simple? Let him come this way.' To the fool she says,	4 «Chi è fanciullo venga da me»; e a quelli scemi di senno ha detto:
5 'Come and eat my bread, drink the wine which I have drawn!	5 «Venite, mangiate del mio pane, bevete il vino ch'io vi mescei.
6 Leave foolishness behind and you wil live, go forwards in the ways of perception.'	6 Lasciate la fanciullaggine e vivrete e camminate per la via della prudenza».
7 Reprove a mocker and you attract contempt, rebuke the wicked and you attract dishonour.	7 Chi corregge il beffardo fa torto a se stesso, e chi ammonisce l'empio si contamina.
8 Do not rebuke the mocker, he wil hate you. Rebuke the wise and he wil love you for it.	8 Non riprendere il beffardo affinchè non ti odi, avvertisci il saggio e t'amerà.
9 Be open with the wise, he grows wiser stil , teach the upright, he wil gain yet more.	9 Dà occasione al saggio d'imparare e diventerà più saggio, amma estra il giusto e sarà sollecito d'imparare.
10 The first principle of wisdom is the fear of Yahweh, What God's holy ones know -- this isunderstanding.	10 Il principio della sapienza è il timor di Dio e la scienza dei santi è prudenza.
11 For by me your days wil be multiplied, and your years of life increased.	11 Perchè per me si moltiplicheranno i tuoi giorni e ti si aggiungeranno anni di vita.
12 Are you wise? You are wise to your own good. A mocker? The burden is yours alone.	12 Se sarai savio lo sarai per te; se farai l'insolente tu solo ne porterai il danno.
13 A silly woman acts on impulse, is foolish and knows nothing.	13 Donna stolta e ciarliera, piena di frivolezze e che non sa nulla di nulla,
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a throne high up in the city,	14 siede all'uscio di casa sua o sopra qualche sedile sull'alto della città,
15 cal ing to the passers-by, who are walking straight past on their way,	15 per chiamare coloro che passano per via e tirano dritto per la loro strada:
16 'Who is simple? Turn aside, come over here.' To the fool she says,	16 «Chi è fanciullo si volga a me»; e a chi è senza giudizio ha detto:
17 'Stolen waters are sweet, and bread tastes better when eaten in secret.'	17 «Le acque furtive son più dolci e il pane di soppiatto è più saporito».
18 But the fool does not know that this is where the Shades are and that her guests are already in thevales of Sheol.	18 E quelli non sanno che vi sono i demoni là dentro, e che i suoi convitati vanno nelle profondità dell'Inferno.
