Proverbs 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Wisdom has built herself a house, she has hewn her seven pil ars,	1 La sapienza si è costruita la sua casa, ha intagliato le sue sette colonne.
2 she has slaughtered her beasts, drawn her wine, she has laid her table.	2 Ha ucciso il suo bestiame, ha preparato il suo vino e ha imbandito la sua tavola.
3 She has despatched her maidservants and proclaimed from the heights above the city,	3 Ha mandato le sue ancelle a proclamare sui punti più alti della città:
4 'Who is simple? Let him come this way.' To the fool she says,	4 «Chi è inesperto venga qui!». A chi è privo di senno ella dice:
5 'Come and eat my bread, drink the wine which I have drawn!	5 «Venite, mangiate il mio pane, bevete il vino che io ho preparato.
6 Leave foolishness behind and you wil live, go forwards in the ways of perception.'	6 Abbandonate l’inesperienza e vivrete, andate diritti per la via dell’intelligenza».
7 Reprove a mocker and you attract contempt, rebuke the wicked and you attract dishonour.	7 Chi corregge lo spavaldo ne riceve disprezzo e chi riprende il malvagio ne riceve oltraggio.
8 Do not rebuke the mocker, he wil hate you. Rebuke the wise and he wil love you for it.	8 Non rimproverare lo spavaldo per non farti odiare; rimprovera il saggio ed egli ti sarà grato.
9 Be open with the wise, he grows wiser stil , teach the upright, he wil gain yet more.	9 Da’ consigli al saggio e diventerà ancora più saggio; istruisci il giusto ed egli aumenterà il sapere.
10 The first principle of wisdom is the fear of Yahweh, What God's holy ones know -- this isunderstanding.	10 Principio della sapienza è il timore del Signore, e conoscere il Santo è intelligenza.
11 For by me your days wil be multiplied, and your years of life increased.	11 Per mezzo mio si moltiplicheranno i tuoi giorni, ti saranno aumentati gli anni di vita.
12 Are you wise? You are wise to your own good. A mocker? The burden is yours alone.	12 Se sei sapiente, lo sei a tuo vantaggio, se sei spavaldo, tu solo ne porterai la pena.
13 A silly woman acts on impulse, is foolish and knows nothing.	13 Donna follia è irrequieta, sciocca e ignorante.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a throne high up in the city,	14 Sta seduta alla porta di casa, su un trono, in un luogo alto della città,
15 cal ing to the passers-by, who are walking straight past on their way,	15 per invitare i passanti che vanno diritti per la loro strada:
16 'Who is simple? Turn aside, come over here.' To the fool she says,	16 «Chi è inesperto venga qui!». E a chi è privo di senno ella dice:
17 'Stolen waters are sweet, and bread tastes better when eaten in secret.'	17 «Le acque furtive sono dolci, il pane preso di nascosto è gustoso».
18 But the fool does not know that this is where the Shades are and that her guests are already in thevales of Sheol.	18 Egli non si accorge che là ci sono le ombre e i suoi invitati scendono nel profondo del regno dei morti.
