Proverbs 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Wisdom has built herself a house, she has hewn her seven pil ars,	1 La Sabiduría ha edificado una casa, ha labrado sus siete columnas,
2 she has slaughtered her beasts, drawn her wine, she has laid her table.	2 ha hecho su matanza, ha mezclado su vino, ha aderezado también su mesa.
3 She has despatched her maidservants and proclaimed from the heights above the city,	3 Ha mandado a sus criadas y anuncia en lo alto de las colinas de la ciudad:
4 'Who is simple? Let him come this way.' To the fool she says,	4 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá». Y al falto de juicio le dice:
5 'Come and eat my bread, drink the wine which I have drawn!	5 «Venid y comed de mi pan, bebed del vino que he mezclado;
6 Leave foolishness behind and you wil live, go forwards in the ways of perception.'	6 dejaos de simplezas y viviréis, y dirigíos por los caminos de la inteligencia».
7 Reprove a mocker and you attract contempt, rebuke the wicked and you attract dishonour.	7 El que corrige al arrogante se acarrea desprecio, y el que reprende al malvado, insultos.
8 Do not rebuke the mocker, he wil hate you. Rebuke the wise and he wil love you for it.	8 No reprendas al arrogante, porque te aborrecerá; reprende al sabio, y te amará.
9 Be open with the wise, he grows wiser stil , teach the upright, he wil gain yet more.	9 Da al sabio, y se hará más sabio todavía; enseña al justo, y crecerá su doctrina.
10 The first principle of wisdom is the fear of Yahweh, What God's holy ones know -- this isunderstanding.	10 Comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor de Yahveh, y la ciencia de los santos es inteligencia.
11 For by me your days wil be multiplied, and your years of life increased.	11 Pues por mí se multiplicarán tus días y se aumentarán los años de tu vida.
12 Are you wise? You are wise to your own good. A mocker? The burden is yours alone.	12 Si te haces sabio, te haces sabio para tu provecho, y si arrogante, tú solo lo tendrás que pagar.
13 A silly woman acts on impulse, is foolish and knows nothing.	13 La mujer necia es alborotada, todo simpleza, no sabe nada.
14 She sits at the door of her house, on a throne high up in the city,	14 Se sienta a la puerta de su casa, sobre un trono, en las colinas de la ciudad,
15 cal ing to the passers-by, who are walking straight past on their way,	15 para llamar a los que pasan por el camino, a los que van derechos por sus sendas:
16 'Who is simple? Turn aside, come over here.' To the fool she says,	16 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá» y al falto de juicio le dice:
17 'Stolen waters are sweet, and bread tastes better when eaten in secret.'	17 «Son dulces las aguas robadas y el pan a escondidas es sabroso».
18 But the fool does not know that this is where the Shades are and that her guests are already in thevales of Sheol.	18 No sabe el hombre que allí moran las Sombras; sus invitados van a los valles del seol.
