Proverbs 14

1 Wisdom builds herself a house; with her own hands Folly pul s it down.	1 La donna saggia edifica la sua casa, la stolta, anche se edificata, la distrugge colle proprie mani.
2 Whoever keeps to an honest course fears Yahweh, whoever deserts his paths shows contempt forhim.	2 Chi cammina per la via retta e teme Dio, è disprezzato da colui che va per la via infame.
3 Pride sprouts in the mouth of the fool, the lips of the wise keep them safe.	3 Nella bocca dello stolto c'è la verga della superbia, ma le labbra dei sapienti son la loro guardia.
4 No oxen, empty manger; strong bul , much cash.	4 Se mancano i buoi la mangiatoia è vuota, dove son abbondanti raccolte si manifesta la forza del bove.
5 The truthful witness tells no lies, the false witness lies with every breath.	5 Si testimone fedele non mentisce, ma il falso testimone spaccia menzogne.
6 In vain the mocker looks for wisdom, knowledge comes easy to the intel igent.	6 Il beffardo cerca la sapienza e non la trova, per i prudenti è facile istruirsi.
7 Keep wel clear of the fool, you wil not find wise lips there.	7 Va lungi dallo stolto: egli non conosce i dettami della prudenza.
8 With people of discretion, wisdom keeps a watch over their conduct, but the fol y of fools leads themastray.	8 La sapienza dell'accorto sta nel conoscere la sua strada, l'imprudenza degli stolti la fa sbagliare.
9 Fools mock at the sacrifice for sin, but favour resides among the honest.	9 Lo stolto si burlerà del peccato, ma fra i giusti dimorerà la grazia.
10 The heart knows its own grief best, nor can a stranger share its joy.	10 E' il cuore che conosce le amarezze dell'anima sua: alla sua gioia non può partecipare un estraneo.
11 The house of the wicked wil be destroyed, the tent of the honest wil prosper.	11 La casa degli empi sarà distrutta, ma le tendo dei giusti saran floride.
12 There are ways that some think straight, but they lead in the end to death.	12 C'è una via che all'uomo sembra giusta, ma finisce col menare alla morte.
13 Even in laughter the heart finds sadness, and joy makes way for sorrow.	13 Il riso sarà mescolato col dolore, il pianto succederà all'allegrezza.
14 The miscreant wil reap the reward of his conduct, and the good the reward of his deeds.	14 Lo stolto sarà soddisfatto della sua condotta, ma il virtuoso sarà a lui superiore.
15 The simpleton believes any message, a person of discretion treads a careful path.	15 Il semplice crede ad ogni parola, l'accorto guarda dove mette i piedi. Per il figlio senza sincerità non ci sarà bene, al servo saggio prospereranno gli affari e ne saran felici le vie.
16 The wise fears evil and avoids it, the fool is insolent and conceited.	16 Il Il saggio teme e schiva il male, lo stolto salta avanti presuntuoso.
17 A quick-tempered person commits rash acts, but a schemer is detestable.	17 L'impaziente agirà da stolto, diventa odioso l'uomo astuto.
18 Simpletons have folly for their portion, people of discretion knowledge for their crown.	18 I semplicioni avranno in possesso la stoltezza, gli uomini accorti aspetteranno la scienza.
19 The evil bow down before the good, the wicked, at the gates of the upright.	19 Giaceranno i cattivi ai piedi dei buoni, e gli empi dinanzi alle porte dei giusti.
20 The poor is detestable even to a friend, but many are they who love someone rich.	20 Il povero è odiato anche dai congiunti, invece i ricchi han molti amici.
21 One who despises the needy is at fault, one who takes pity on the poor is blessed.	21 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo pecca, chi ha pietà del povero sarà beato. Chi crede nel Signore ama la misericordia.
22 Plan evil -- isn't this to go astray? Those who plan for good can earn faithful love and constancy.	22 Son fuor di strada quelli che fanno il male. La misericordia e la verità preparano i beni.
23 Hard work always yields its profit, idle talk brings only want.	23 Dove si lavora ci sarà abbondanza, dove son molte chiacchiere v'è spesso l'indigenza.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the fol y of fools is folly.	24 Corona dei saggi son le loro ricchezze, la follia degli stolti resta follia.
25 A truthful witness saves lives, whoever utters lies is a deceiver.	25 Il testimonio fedele libera delle vite, il finto spaccia menzogne.
26 In the fear of Yahweh is powerful security; for his children he is a refuge.	26 Nel timore del Signore v'è incrollabile fiducia, e i suoi figli avran da sperare.
27 The fear of Yahweh is a life-giving spring for eluding the snares of death.	27 Il timor del Signore è fonte di vita, e fa evitare la rovina della morte.
28 Large population, monarch's glory; dwindling population, ruler's ruin.	28 Nel gran numero del popolo sta la dignità del re, nella scarsità dei sudditi l'ignominia del principe.
29 Mastery of temper is high proof of intel igence, a quick temper makes fol y worse than ever.	29 Chi è paziente si governa con molta prudenza, ma l'impaziente proclama la sua stoltezza.
30 The life of the body is a tranquil heart, but envy is a cancer in the bones.	30 Un cuore sano è la vita del corpo, l'invidia è la carie delle ossa.
31 To oppress the weak insults the Creator, kindness to the needy honours the Creator.	31 Chi opprime il povero insulta chi l'ha creato, chi invece ha compassione del povero lo onora.
32 For evil-doing, the wicked wil be flung headlong, but in integrity the upright wil find refuge.	32 L'empio sarà travolto dalla sua malizia, il giusto in punto di morte è pieno di speranza.
33 Wisdom resides in an understanding heart; she is not to be found in the hearts of fools.	33 La sapienza riposa nel cuore del prudente, ed istruirà anche gli ignoranti.
34 Uprightness makes a nation great, by sin whole races are disgraced.	34 La giustizia fa grande una nazione, ma il peccato rende infelici i popoli.
35 A king shows favour to a wise minister, but anger to one who shames him.	35 E' accetto al re il ministro intelligente, ma quello buono a nulla ne proverà lo sdegno.
