Proverbs 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Wisdom builds herself a house; with her own hands Folly pul s it down.	1 La Sabiduría edifica su casa; le Necedad con sus manos la destruye.
2 Whoever keeps to an honest course fears Yahweh, whoever deserts his paths shows contempt forhim.	2 Quien anda en rectitud, teme a Yahveh; el de torcido camino le desprecia.
3 Pride sprouts in the mouth of the fool, the lips of the wise keep them safe.	3 En la boca del necio hay una raíz de orgullo, pero los labios de los sabios los protegen.
4 No oxen, empty manger; strong bul , much cash.	4 Donde no hay bueyes, pesebre vacío; cosecha abundante con la fuerza del toro.
5 The truthful witness tells no lies, the false witness lies with every breath.	5 Testigo veraz no miente, testigo falso respira mentiras.
6 In vain the mocker looks for wisdom, knowledge comes easy to the intel igent.	6 Busca el arrogante la sabiduría pero en vano, al inteligente la ciencia le es fácil.
7 Keep wel clear of the fool, you wil not find wise lips there.	7 Apártate del hombre necio, pues no conocerías labios doctos.
8 With people of discretion, wisdom keeps a watch over their conduct, but the fol y of fools leads themastray.	8 Sabiduría del cauto es atender a su conducta, la necedad de los tontos es engaño.
9 Fools mock at the sacrifice for sin, but favour resides among the honest.	9 De los necios se aparta el sacrificio expiatorio, pero entre los rectos se encuentra el favor de Dios.
10 The heart knows its own grief best, nor can a stranger share its joy.	10 El corazón conoce su propia amargura, y con ningún extraño comparte su alegría.
11 The house of the wicked wil be destroyed, the tent of the honest wil prosper.	11 La casa de los malos será destruida, la tienda de los rectos florecerá.
12 There are ways that some think straight, but they lead in the end to death.	12 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero, al cabo, son caminos de muerte.
13 Even in laughter the heart finds sadness, and joy makes way for sorrow.	13 También en el reír padece el corazón, y al cabo la alegría es dolor.
14 The miscreant wil reap the reward of his conduct, and the good the reward of his deeds.	14 El perverso de corazón está satisfecho de su conducta, y el hombre de bien, de sus obras.
15 The simpleton believes any message, a person of discretion treads a careful path.	15 El simple cree cuanto se dice, el cauto medita sus propios pasos.
16 The wise fears evil and avoids it, the fool is insolent and conceited.	16 El sabio teme el mal y de él se aparta, el necio es presuntuoso y confiado.
17 A quick-tempered person commits rash acts, but a schemer is detestable.	17 El de genio pronto, hace necedades, el hombre artero es odiado.
18 Simpletons have folly for their portion, people of discretion knowledge for their crown.	18 La herencia de los simples es la necedad, los cautos son coronados de ciencia.
19 The evil bow down before the good, the wicked, at the gates of the upright.	19 Los malos se postran ante los buenos, los malvados a la puerta de los justos.
20 The poor is detestable even to a friend, but many are they who love someone rich.	20 Incluso a su vecino es odioso el pobre, pero son muchos los amigos del rico.
21 One who despises the needy is at fault, one who takes pity on the poor is blessed.	21 Quien desprecia a su vecino comete pecado; dichoso el que tiene piedad de los pobres.
22 Plan evil -- isn't this to go astray? Those who plan for good can earn faithful love and constancy.	22 ¿No andan extraviados los que planean el mal?; amor y lealtad a los que planean el bien.
23 Hard work always yields its profit, idle talk brings only want.	23 Todo trabajo produce abundancia, la charlatanería sólo indigencia.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the fol y of fools is folly.	24 Corona de los sabios es la riqueza, la necedad de los insensatos es necedad.
25 A truthful witness saves lives, whoever utters lies is a deceiver.	25 Salvador de vidas es el testigo veraz, quien profiere mentira es un impostor.
26 In the fear of Yahweh is powerful security; for his children he is a refuge.	26 El temor de Yahveh es seguridad inexpugnable; sus hijos tendrán en él refugio.
27 The fear of Yahweh is a life-giving spring for eluding the snares of death.	27 El temor de Yahveh es fuente de vida, para apartarse de las trampas de la muerte.
28 Large population, monarch's glory; dwindling population, ruler's ruin.	28 Pueblo numeroso, gloria del rey; pueblo escaso, ruina del príncipe.
29 Mastery of temper is high proof of intel igence, a quick temper makes fol y worse than ever.	29 El tardo a la ira tiene gran prudencia, el de genio pronto pone de manifiesto su necedad
30 The life of the body is a tranquil heart, but envy is a cancer in the bones.	30 El corazón manso es vida del cuerpo; la envidia es caries de los huesos.
31 To oppress the weak insults the Creator, kindness to the needy honours the Creator.	31 Quien oprime al débil, ultraja a su Hacedor; mas el que se apiada del pobre, le da gloria.
32 For evil-doing, the wicked wil be flung headlong, but in integrity the upright wil find refuge.	32 El malo es derribado por su propia malicia, el justo en su integridad halla refugio.
33 Wisdom resides in an understanding heart; she is not to be found in the hearts of fools.	33 En corazón inteligente descansa la sabiduría, en el corazón de los necios no es conocida.
34 Uprightness makes a nation great, by sin whole races are disgraced.	34 La justicia eleva a las naciones, el pecado es la vergüenza de los pueblos.
35 A king shows favour to a wise minister, but anger to one who shames him.	35 El favor del rey para el siervo prudente; y su cólera para el que le avergüenza.
