Proverbs 14

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Wisdom builds herself a house; with her own hands Folly pul s it down.	1 La sabiduría edifica una casa, pero la necedad la destruye con sus propias manos.
2 Whoever keeps to an honest course fears Yahweh, whoever deserts his paths shows contempt forhim.	2 El que camina con rectitud teme al Señor, el que va por caminos tortuosos lo desprecia.
3 Pride sprouts in the mouth of the fool, the lips of the wise keep them safe.	3 De la boca del necio brota el orgullo, los labios de los sabios son su defensa.
4 No oxen, empty manger; strong bul , much cash.	4 Donde no hay bueyes, el establo está limpio, pero la fuerza de un toro da mucha ganancia.
5 The truthful witness tells no lies, the false witness lies with every breath.	5 Un testigo veraz no engaña, pero el testigo falso profiere mentiras.
6 In vain the mocker looks for wisdom, knowledge comes easy to the intel igent.	6 El insolente busca sabiduría y no la encuentra, pero la ciencia es fácil para el inteligente.
7 Keep wel clear of the fool, you wil not find wise lips there.	7 Aléjate de la presencia de un necio: no hallarás ciencia en sus labios.
8 With people of discretion, wisdom keeps a watch over their conduct, but the fol y of fools leads themastray.	8 La sabiduría del prudente es saber discernir su camino, la insensatez de los necios es puro engaño.
9 Fools mock at the sacrifice for sin, but favour resides among the honest.	9 El necio se burla de los sacrificios expiatorios, pero entre los hombres rectos se encuentra el favor de Dios.
10 The heart knows its own grief best, nor can a stranger share its joy.	10 El corazón conoce su propia amargura y ningún extraño se asocia a su alegría.
11 The house of the wicked wil be destroyed, the tent of the honest wil prosper.	11 La casa de los malvados será destruida, pero la carpa de los rectos florecerá.
12 There are ways that some think straight, but they lead in the end to death.	12 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte.
13 Even in laughter the heart finds sadness, and joy makes way for sorrow.	13 También entre risas, sufre el corazón, y al fin la alegría termina en pesar.
14 The miscreant wil reap the reward of his conduct, and the good the reward of his deeds.	14 El descarriado se sacia con los frutos de su conducta, y el hombre de bien con sus acciones.
15 The simpleton believes any message, a person of discretion treads a careful path.	15 El incauto cree todo lo que le dicen, pero el prudente vigila sus pasos.
16 The wise fears evil and avoids it, the fool is insolent and conceited.	16 El sabio teme el mal y se aparta de él, el necio es temerario y se siente seguro.
17 A quick-tempered person commits rash acts, but a schemer is detestable.	17 El iracundo comete locuras, el hombre reflexivo sabe aguantar.
18 Simpletons have folly for their portion, people of discretion knowledge for their crown.	18 La herencia de los incautos es la necedad, la corona de los prudentes es la ciencia.
19 The evil bow down before the good, the wicked, at the gates of the upright.	19 Los malos se doblegarán ante los buenos, y los malvados, a las puertas del justo.
20 The poor is detestable even to a friend, but many are they who love someone rich.	20 El pobre resulta odioso aun para su vecino, pero el rico tiene muchos amigos.
21 One who despises the needy is at fault, one who takes pity on the poor is blessed.	21 El que desprecia a su prójimo peca, pero ¡feliz el que se apiada de los humildes!
22 Plan evil -- isn't this to go astray? Those who plan for good can earn faithful love and constancy.	22 ¿No viven extraviados los que traman el mal? Pero hay amor y fidelidad para los que se dedican al bien.
23 Hard work always yields its profit, idle talk brings only want.	23 Toda fatiga trae algún provecho, pero la charlatanería sólo aporta indigencia.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the fol y of fools is folly.	24 La corona de los sabios es la prudencia, la diadema de los necios, la insensatez.
25 A truthful witness saves lives, whoever utters lies is a deceiver.	25 Un testigo veraz salva las vidas, el que profiere mentiras es un impostor.
26 In the fear of Yahweh is powerful security; for his children he is a refuge.	26 El temor del Señor es un refugio seguro, que sirve de defensa para los hijos.
27 The fear of Yahweh is a life-giving spring for eluding the snares of death.	27 El temor del Señor es fuente de vida, que aparta de los lazos de la muerte.
28 Large population, monarch's glory; dwindling population, ruler's ruin.	28 Un pueblo numeroso es la gloria del rey, la falta de súbditos es la ruina del soberano.
29 Mastery of temper is high proof of intel igence, a quick temper makes fol y worse than ever.	29 El que tarda en enojarse muestra gran inteligencia, el iracundo pone de manifiesto su necedad.
30 The life of the body is a tranquil heart, but envy is a cancer in the bones.	30 Un corazón apacible es la vida del cuerpo, pero la envidia corroe los huesos.
31 To oppress the weak insults the Creator, kindness to the needy honours the Creator.	31 El que oprime al débil ultraja a su Creador, el que se apiada del indigente, lo honra.
32 For evil-doing, the wicked wil be flung headlong, but in integrity the upright wil find refuge.	32 El malvado es arrasado por su propia malicia, el justo encuentra un refugio en su integridad.
33 Wisdom resides in an understanding heart; she is not to be found in the hearts of fools.	33 En el corazón inteligente reposa la sabiduría, pero entre los necios no se la conoce.
34 Uprightness makes a nation great, by sin whole races are disgraced.	34 La justicia exalta a una nación, pero el pecado es la vergüenza de los pueblos.
35 A king shows favour to a wise minister, but anger to one who shames him.	35 El favor del rey es para el servidor prudente y su furor, para el desvergonzado.
