1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 Tko ljubi pouku, ljubi znanje, a tko mrzi ukor, lud je.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 Dobar dobiva milost od Jahve, a podmukao osudu.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 Zloćom se čovjek ne utvrđuje, a korijen se pravedniku ne pomiče.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 Kreposna je žena vijenac mužu svojemu, a sramotna mu je kao gnjilež u kostima.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 Pravedničke su misli pravične, spletke opakih prijevarne.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 Riječi opakih pogubne su zamke, a pravedne izbavljaju usta njihova.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Opaki se ruše i nema ih više, a kuća pravednika ostaje.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 Čovjek se hvali po oštrini svoga razuma, a prezire se tko je opak srcem.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 Bolje je biti malen i imati samo jednog slugu nego se hvastati a nemati ni kruha.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 Pravednik pazi i na život svog živinčeta, dok je opakomu srce okrutno.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 Tko obrađuje svoju zemlju, sit je kruha, a tko trči za ništavilom, nerazuman je.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 Čežnja je opakoga mreža od zala, a korijen pravednika daje ploda.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 Opakomu je zamka grijeh njegovih usana, a pravednik se izbavlja od tjeskobe.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 Od ploda svojih usta nasitit će se svatko obilno, a ono što je rukama učinio vratit će mu se.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 Luđaku se čini pravim njegov put, a mudar čovjek sluša savjete.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 Luđak odmah odaje svoj bijes, a pametan pokriva sramotu.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 Tko govori istinu, otkriva što je pravo, a lažljiv svjedok prijevaru.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 Nesmotren govori kao da mačem probada, a jezik je mudrih iscjeljenje.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Istinita usta traju dovijeka, a lažljiv jezik samo za čas.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 Prijevara je u srcu onih koji snuju zlo, a veselje u onih koji dijele miroljubive savjete.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Pravednika ne stiže nikakva nevolja, a opaki u zlu grcaju.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Mrske su Jahvi usne lažljive, a mili su mu koji zbore istinu.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 Promišljen čovjek prikriva svoje znanje, a srce bezumničko razglašuje svoju ludost.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 Marljiva ruka vlada, a nemar vodi u podložnost.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 Briga u srcu pritiskuje čovjeka, a blaga riječ veseli ga.
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 Pravednik vodi svojeg prijatelja, a opake zavodi njihov put.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 Nemaran ne ulovi svoje lovine, a marljivost je čovjeku blago dragocjeno.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 Na stazi pravice stoji život i na njezinu putu nema smrti.
