Proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 Chi ama la correzione ama la scienza, chi odia il rimprovero è uno stupido.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 Chi è buono ottiene il favore del Signore, il quale condanna il malintenzionato.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 Non si consolida l’uomo con la malvagità, ma la radice dei giusti non sarà smossa.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 Una donna forte è la corona del marito, ma quella svergognata è come carie nelle sue ossa.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 I pensieri dei giusti sono equità, i propositi degli empi sono frode.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 Le parole degli empi sono insidie mortali, ma la bocca degli uomini retti li salverà.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Gli empi, una volta abbattuti, più non sono, ma la casa dei giusti resta salda.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 Un uomo è lodato in proporzione alla sua intelligenza, ma chi ha il cuore perverso è disprezzato.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 Un uomo di poco conto che ha un servitore vale più di uno che si vanta, a cui manca il pane.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 Il giusto si prende cura del suo bestiame, ma i sentimenti degli empi sono spietati.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 Chi coltiva la sua terra si sazia di pane, chi insegue chimere è proprio uno stolto.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 Le brame dell’empio sono una rete di mali, la radice dei giusti dà molto frutto.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 Nel peccato delle sue labbra si impiglia il malvagio, ma il giusto sfugge a tale angoscia.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 Con il frutto della bocca ci si sazia di beni; ciascuno sarà ripagato secondo le sue opere.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 La via del malvagio è retta ai propri occhi, il saggio, invece, ascolta il consiglio.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 Lo stolto manifesta subito la sua collera, ma chi è avveduto dissimula l’offesa.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 Chi dice la verità proclama la giustizia, chi testimonia il falso favorisce l’inganno.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 C’è chi chiacchierando è come una spada tagliente, ma la lingua dei saggi risana.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Il labbro veritiero resta saldo per sempre, quello bugiardo per un istante solo.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 L’inganno è nel cuore di chi trama il male, la gioia invece è di chi promuove la pace.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Al giusto non può accadere alcun male, i malvagi invece sono pieni di guai.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Le labbra bugiarde sono un obbrobrio per il Signore: egli si compiace di chiunque fa la verità.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 Chi è avveduto nasconde quello che sa, il cuore degli stolti proclama stoltezze.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 La mano operosa ottiene il comando, quella pigra invece è destinata a servire.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 L’afflizione deprime il cuore dell’uomo, una parola buona lo allieta.
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 Il giusto è guida sicura per il suo prossimo, ma la via dei malvagi li porta fuori strada.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 Il pigro non troverà selvaggina, ma la persona industriosa possiede una fortuna.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 Sui sentieri della giustizia si trova la vita, la sua strada non va mai alla morte.
