Proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 Aki szereti a feddést, szereti az okulást, aki pedig fázik az intéstől, az balga.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 A jó az Úrtól kegyben részesül, de aki saját gondolataiban bizakodik, istentelenül cselekszik.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 Senki sem erősödik bűn által, az igazak gyökere azonban ki nem lazul.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 A derék asszony a férje koronája, a becstelen pedig szú a csontjában.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 Az igazak gondolatai a helyeset célozzák, a gonoszok terve pedig csalásra irányul.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 A gonoszok szavai vér után leselkednek, az igazak szája azonban megmenti őket.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Döntsd le a gonoszokat, és nincsenek többé, az igazak háza azonban szilárd marad.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 Okossága szerint dicsérik az embert, és megvetik azt, aki üres és esztelen.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 Többet ér a szegény, aki megelégszik magával, mint az úrhatnám, akinek kenyere sincsen.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 Tudja az igaz, mi kell marhájának, a gonoszok szíve azonban kegyetlen.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 Aki megműveli földjét, jóllakhat kenyérrel, aki hiú dolgok után szalad, az ostoba nagyon! Aki borozgatva éldeleg, szégyent hagy erődjeiben.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 Az istentelen vágya a gonoszok vára, az igazak gyökere azonban erősödik.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 Az ajkak bűneiért romlás éri a gonoszt, az igaz azonban megmenekül a szorongatásból.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 Mindenki a szája gyümölcse szerint telik el javakkal, és mindenkinek keze munkája szerint fizetnek.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 A balga a maga útját gondolja helyesnek, a bölcs azonban a tanácsra hallgat.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 A balga bosszúságát menten kimutatja, az okos pedig a sértést elleplezi.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 Aki azt mondja, amit tud, az igazat vall, aki pedig hazudik, csalárd tanú.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 Van, akinek fecsegése olyan, mint a karddöfés, a bölcsek nyelve pedig, mint az orvosság.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Igaz ajkak helytállnak örökké, de a felelőtlen tanú hazug nyelvet kohol.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 Fondorlat van azok szívében, akik gonoszt forralnak, de öröm éri azokat, akik békességet javasolnak.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Nem bántja az igazat, bármi is történjék vele, a gonoszok azonban tele vannak bajjal.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Utálja az Úr a hamis ajkakat, de kedvét leli azokban, akik híven cselekszenek.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 Az okos ember elrejti tudását, a dőrék szíve pedig kürtöli a balgaságot.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 A szorgalmas kéz uralomra kerül, a lusta pedig robotmunkára jut.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 A szívbeli bánat leveri az embert, de a szép szó felderíti!
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 Aki nem törődik kárával barátja kedvéért, az igaz, a gonoszokat útjuk tévedésbe viszi.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 A csaló nem jut nyereséghez, de az ember vagyona aranyat ér.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 Az igazság útja életet ad, de tágas az út, mely a halálba vezet.
