Proverbs 12

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 El que ama la corrección, ama la ciencia, y el que detesta la reprensión se embrutece.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 El hombre de bien obtiene el favor del Señor, pero el Señor condena al malicioso.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 Nadie se afianza por medio de la maldad, pero la raíz de los justos será inconmovible.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 Una mujer perfecta es la corona de su marido, la desvergonzada es como caries en sus huesos.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 Los proyectos de los justos son rectos, las maquinaciones de los malvados no son más que engaño.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 Las palabras de los malvados son emboscadas sangrientas, pero a los hombres rectos los libra su propia boca.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Apenas derribados, los malvados no existen más, pero la casa de los justos se mantiene en pie.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 A un hombre se lo alaba por su buen juicio, pero el de corazón falso cae en la ignominia.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 Más vale hombre sencillo que se basta a sí mismo, que jactancioso al que le falta el pan.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 El justo provee a las necesidades de su ganado, pero las entrañas de los malvados son crueles.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 El que cultiva su tierra se saciará de pan, pero el que persigue quimeras es un insensato.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 El malvado codicia la presa de los impíos, pero la raíz de los justos está bien afianzada.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 En el pecado de los labios hay una trampa funesta, pero el justo escapa del peligro.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 El hombre se sacia con el fruto de sus palabras, y cada uno recibe el salario de su trabajo.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 Al necio le parece que su camino es recto, pero el sabio escucha un consejo.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 El necio manifiesta en seguida su disgusto pero el hombre prudente disimula una afrenta.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 El que dice la verdad declara lo que es justo, pero el testigo falso es un impostor.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 El charlatán corta como una espada, pero la lengua de los sabios es un remedio.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Los labios veraces permanecen para siempre, pero la lengua mentirosa, sólo por un instante.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 Hay engaño en el corazón de los que traman el mal, y alegría para los que dan consejos saludables.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Al justo no le pasará nada malo, pero los malvados están llenos de desgracias.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Los labios mentirosos son abominables para el Señor, pero los que practican la verdad gozan de su favor.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 El hombre prudente disimula lo que sabe, pero el corazón de los necios proclama su insensatez.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 La mano laboriosa dominará, la indolente pagará tributo.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 La inquietud deprime el corazón del hombre, pero una buena palabra lo reconforta.
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 El justo aventaja a los demás, pero a los malvados los extravía su conducta.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 El indolente no tiene presa de caza para asar, y el bien más preciado es un hombre laborioso.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 En el sendero de la justicia está la vida, y el camino que ella sigue no lleva a la muerte.
