Proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 - Chi ama la disciplina, ama la scienza; ma chi odia gli ammonimenti è uno scemo.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 Chi è buono, otterrà favori dal Signore, e chi confida nei suoi artifizi, opra da empio.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 L'uomo non acquisterà fermezza coll'iniquità; ma la radice dei giusti non sarà mai smossa.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 La donna diligente è la corona del marito; e carie nelle ossa quella che fa azioni indegne.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 I pensieri dei giusti sono l'equità; e i consigli dei tristi sono frodolenti.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 Le parole degli empi insidiano al sangue altrui; la bocca dei buoni li libererà.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Lascia che voltino gli empi, e non saranno più; ma la casa dei giusti resterà salva.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 Dalla sua dottrina si conoscerà l'uomo, e chi è vano e scemo sarà esposto al disprezzo.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 È meglio un povero che basta a sè, di un borioso che manca di pane.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 Il giusto ha cura della vita delle sue bestiole, ma le viscere degli empi sono crudeli.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 Chi lavora la sua terra, si sazierà di pane; chi segue l'ozio è più che stolto. Chi prende gusto nei trattenimenti dei bevitori di vinolascerà il disonore nei suoi castelli.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 Il desiderio dell'empio è che si rafforzino i peggiori; ma la radice del giusto germoglierà.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 Pei peccati delle labbra il malvagio va incontro alla rovina; ma il giusto scamperà dall'angustia.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 Ciascuno si sazierà dei beni, frutto della sua bocca e secondo la mercede delle sue mani sarà retribuito.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 La via dello stolto è diritta ai suoi occhi, ma chi è saggio dà retta ai consigli.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 L'insensato fa conoscere tosto la sua collera, ma chi dissimula un affronto è avveduto.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 Chi dice quello che sa, dà indizio di giustizia, ma chi mentisce è testimonio frodolento.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 C'è chi promette e gli ripunge come spada nella sua coscienza, ma la lingua dei saggi è una medicina.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Il labbro veritiero sarà costante in perpetuo, ma chi è testimonio avventato acconcia la lingua alla menzogna.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 Nel cuore dei macchinatori di malvagità c'è l'inganno e a quelli che fanno accordi di pace tien dietro l'allegrezza.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Non contristerà il giusto qualunque cosa l'incolga, mentre i tristi saranno sempre pieni di guai.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Le labbra menzognere sono in abominio presso Dio, e quelli che operano con lealtà hanno la sua simpatia.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 L'uomo accorto cela la sua scienza, e il cuor degli stolti pubblica la sua follia.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 La mano dei laboriosi signoreggerà, e la pigra pagherà tributo.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 La tristezza nel cuore dell'uomo l'abbatterà, e da una buona parola sarà rallegrato.
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 Chi non cura il suo danno in pro dell'amico è giusto, ma il cammino dei tristi fa loro perdere i passi.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 Il fraudolento non troverà guadagno, e una sostanza frutto dell'uomo vale tant'oro.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 Sul sentiero della giustizia c'è la vita, e la strada obliqua conduce alla morte.
