Proverbs 12

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Whoever loves discipline, loves knowledge, stupid are those who hate correction.	1 Chi ama la disciplina, ama la scienza, ma chi odia il rimprovero è uno stupido.
2 The honest obtains Yahweh's favour, the schemer incurs his condemnation.	2 Un buono si attira la compiacenza del Signore, ma l'uomo astuto Dio lo condanna.
3 No one is made secure by wickedness, but nothing shakes the roots of the upright.	3 Non si consolida un uomo con l'empietà, ma la radice dei giusti non sarà mai smossa.
4 A capable wife, her husband's crown, a shameless wife, a cancer in his bones.	4 Una buona moglie è la corona di suo marito, ma come carie nell'ossa è la disonorata.
5 The plans of the upright are honest, the intrigues of the wicked are full of deceit.	5 I pensieri dei giusti sono equità, ma le trame degli empi sono inganno.
6 The words of the wicked are snares to shed blood, what the honest say keeps them safe.	6 Le parole degli empi sono insidie mortali, ma la bocca degli uomini retti li libera.
7 Once thrown down, the wicked are no more, but the house of the upright stands firm.	7 Gli empi precipitano e non tornano più, la casa dei retti rimane per sempre.
8 Prudence wins praise, but a tortuous heart incurs only contempt.	8 Per la propria prudenza uno viene lodato, l'uomo perverso invece è disprezzato.
9 Better a common fel ow who has a slave than someone who gives himself airs and has nothing to eat.	9 Val più un uomo da poco che ha solo un servo, di un uomo onorato, ma privo di pane.
10 The upright has compassion on his animals, but the heart of the wicked is ruthless.	10 Il giusto conosce ognuno dei suoi animali, ma le viscere degli empi sono crudeli.
11 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	11 Chi lavora il suo suolo si sazia di pane, ma chi va dietro a chimere è privo di senno.
12 The godless delights in the snare of the wicked, but the root of the upright bears fruit.	12 L'empio brama la rete dei cattivi, ma la radice dei giusti produce.
13 In the sin of the lips lies a disastrous trap, but the upright finds a way out of misfortune.	13 Nel peccato delle labbra è preso il malvagio, il giusto invece sfugge al loro morso.
14 Abundance of good things is the fruit of the lips; labour brings its own return.	14 Dal frutto della bocca l'uomo si sazia di beni e il frutto delle sue mani gli appartiene.
15 Fools think the way they go is straight, the wise listens to advice.	15 La via dell'empio è retta ai suoi occhi, ma chi ascolta il consiglio è saggio.
16 The fool shows anger straightaway, the discreet conceals dislike.	16 Lo stolto subito fa vedere il suo dispetto, ma il sapiente nasconde l'oltraggio.
17 To tel the truth is to further justice, a false witness is nothing but deceit.	17 Chi ama la verità annunzia la giustizia, ma testimonianza dei bugiardi è la falsità.
18 Thoughtless words can wound like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.	18 C'è chi parla come a colpi di spada, ma la lingua dei saggi guarisce.
19 Sincere lips endure for ever, the lying tongue lasts only a moment.	19 Una lingua verace rimane in eterno, una lingua bugiarda solo un batter d'occhio.
20 Deceit is in the heart of the schemer, joy with those who give counsels of peace.	20 Delusione nel cuore di chi trama il male, gioia per chi consiglia la pace.
21 No harm can come to the upright, but the wicked are swamped by misfortunes.	21 Non giunge al giusto alcun malanno, gli empi invece son pieni di mali.
22 Lying lips are abhorrent to Yahweh; dear to him those who make truth their way of life.	22 Il Signore detesta una lingua bugiarda, di chi fa la verità invece si compiace.
23 The discreet keeps knowledge hidden, the heart of fools proclaims their folly.	23 L'uomo prudente nasconde la scienza, ma il cuore degli empi proclama stoltezza.
24 For the diligent hand, authority; for the slack hand, forced labour.	24 La mano dell'uomo solerte sarà sopra tutti, ma l'uomo indolente diventerà schiavo.
25 Worry makes a heart heavy, a kindly word makes it glad.	25 Basta un affanno del cuore e l'uomo ha la febbre, ma una buona parola lo riempie di gioia.
26 The upright shows the way to a friend; the way of the wicked leads them astray.	26 Trova il suo pascolo il giusto, ma la via degli empi li svia.
27 The idle has no game to roast; diligence is anyone's most precious possession.	27 Non arrostisce l'indolenza la sua preda, ma è ricchezza dell'uomo una preziosa diligenza.
28 In the way of uprightness is life, the ways of the vengeful lead to death.	28 Sul sentiero della giustizia, la vita, la sua strada non va mai alla morte.
