NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [For the choirmaster Of David Psalm] Yahweh, you examine me and know me,	1 Per il maestro di coro. Salmo. Di Davide. Signore, tu mi scruti e mi conosci.
2 you know when I sit, when I rise, you understand my thoughts from afar.	2 Tu sai se mi siedo e se mi alzo; tu intendi il mio pensiero da lontano.
3 You watch when I walk or lie down, you know every detail of my conduct.	3 Tu esplori il mio cammino e la mia sosta: tutte le mie vie ti sono familiari.
4 A word is not yet on my tongue before you, Yahweh, know all about it.	4 Sì, non c'è parola nella mia bocca che tu non conosca perfettamente.
5 You fence me in, behind and in front, you have laid your hand upon me.	5 Alle spalle e di fronte tu mi stringi; tu poni su di me la tua mano.
6 Such amazing knowledge is beyond me, a height to which I cannot attain.	6 Stupenda è per me la tua conoscenza, talmente alta che non riesco a raggiungerla.
7 Where shall I go to escape your spirit? Where shall I flee from your presence?	7 Dove potrei andare lontano dal tuo spirito? Dove fuggire, lontano dalla tua presenza?
8 If I scale the heavens you are there, if I lie flat in Sheol, there you are.	8 Se scalassi i cieli, là tu sei! Se discendessi negli inferi, anche là tu sei!
9 If I speed away on the wings of the dawn, if I dwel beyond the ocean,	9 Se raggiungessi le ali dell'aurora e riuscissi ad abitare al di là del mare,
10 even there your hand will be guiding me, your right hand holding me fast.	10 sì, anche là mi guiderebbe la tua mano, mi prenderebbe la tua destra.
11 I will say, 'Let the darkness cover me, and the night wrap itself around me,'	11 Allora ho detto: "Almeno le tenebre mi potrebbero coprire, la notte mi potrebbe racchiudere".
12 even darkness to you is not dark, and night is as clear as the day.	12 Ebbene, non sono oscure per te le tenebre, e la notte risplende come il giorno, come le tenebre così è la luce.
13 You created my inmost self, knit me together in my mother's womb.	13 Sì, tu hai plasmato i miei reni, mi hai tessuto nel grembo di mia madre.
14 For so many marvels I thank you; a wonder am I, and al your works are wonders. You knew methrough and through,	14 Ti rendo grazie perché sono stato formato in modo stupendo: stupende sono le tue opere! La mia anima lo riconosce appieno.
15 my being held no secrets from you, when I was being formed in secret, textured in the depths of theearth.	15 Non ti erano nascoste le mie membra, quando fui formato nel segreto, ricamato nel profondo della terra.
16 Your eyes could see my embryo. In your book all my days were inscribed, every one that was fixedis there.	16 Tutti i miei giorni videro i tuoi occhi; nel tuo libro erano scritti tutti quanti: vennero fissati i giorni quando neppur uno di essi esisteva ancora.
17 How hard for me to grasp your thoughts, how many, God, there are!	17 Quanto difficili sono per me i tuoi pensieri, quanto grande il loro numero, o Dio!
18 If I count them, they are more than the grains of sand; if I come to an end, I am stil with you.	18 Se volessi contarli, son più della sabbia; giunto alla fine, sono tuttora con te.
19 If only, God, you would kil the wicked!-Men of violence, keep away from me!-	19 Voglia tu, o Dio, sterminare l'empio! Gli uomini di sangue s'allontanino da me!
20 those who speak blasphemously about you, and take no account of your thoughts.	20 Essi dicono di te cose inique; si sono sollevati, ma invano, contro di te.
21 Yahweh, do I not hate those who hate you, and loathe those who defy you?	21 Non odio forse quelli che ti odiano? Non ho forse in orrore chi a te si ribella?
22 My hate for them has no limits, I regard them as my own enemies.	22 Di odio pieno io li detesto: essi sono nemici per me.
23 God, examine me and know my heart, test me and know my concerns.	23 Scrutami, o Dio, e conosci il mio cuore; saggiami e conosci i miei pensieri.
24 Make sure that I am not on my way to ruin, and guide me on the road of eternity.	24 Vedi se c'è in me una via di menzogna e guidami nella via eterna.
