Psalms 139

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 [For the choirmaster Of David Psalm] Yahweh, you examine me and know me,	1 Du maître de chant. De David.Psaume. Yahvé, tu me sondes et me connais;
2 you know when I sit, when I rise, you understand my thoughts from afar.	2 que je me lève ou m'assoie, tu le sais, tu perces de loin mes pensées;
3 You watch when I walk or lie down, you know every detail of my conduct.	3 que je marche ou me couche, tu le sens, mes chemins te sont tous familiers.
4 A word is not yet on my tongue before you, Yahweh, know all about it.	4 La parole n'est pas encore sur ma langue, et voici, Yahvé, tu la sais tout entière;
5 You fence me in, behind and in front, you have laid your hand upon me.	5 derrière et devant tu m'enserres, tu as mis sur moi ta main.
6 Such amazing knowledge is beyond me, a height to which I cannot attain.	6 Merveille de science qui me dépasse, hauteur où je ne puis atteindre.
7 Where shall I go to escape your spirit? Where shall I flee from your presence?	7 Où irai-je loin de ton esprit, où fuirai-je loin de ta face?
8 If I scale the heavens you are there, if I lie flat in Sheol, there you are.	8 Si j'escalade les cieux, tu es là, qu'au shéol je me couche, te voici.
9 If I speed away on the wings of the dawn, if I dwel beyond the ocean,	9 Je prends les ailes de l'aurore, je me loge au plus loin de la mer,
10 even there your hand will be guiding me, your right hand holding me fast.	10 même là, ta main me conduit, ta droite me saisit.
11 I will say, 'Let the darkness cover me, and the night wrap itself around me,'	11 Je dirai: "Que me presse la ténèbre, que la nuit soit pour moi une ceinture";
12 even darkness to you is not dark, and night is as clear as the day.	12 même la ténèbre n'est point ténèbre devant toi et la nuit comme le jour illumine.
13 You created my inmost self, knit me together in my mother's womb.	13 C'est toi qui m'as formé les reins, qui m'as tissé au ventre de ma mère;
14 For so many marvels I thank you; a wonder am I, and al your works are wonders. You knew methrough and through,	14 je te rends grâce pour tant de prodiges: merveille que je suis, merveille que tes oeuvres. Monâme, tu la connaissais bien,
15 my being held no secrets from you, when I was being formed in secret, textured in the depths of theearth.	15 mes os n'étaient point cachés de toi, quand je fus façonné dans le secret, brodé au profond de laterre.
16 Your eyes could see my embryo. In your book all my days were inscribed, every one that was fixedis there.	16 Mon embryon, tes yeux le voyaient; sur ton livre, ils sont tous inscrits les jours qui ont été fixés,et chacun d'eux y figure.
17 How hard for me to grasp your thoughts, how many, God, there are!	17 Mais pour moi, que tes pensées sont difficiles, ô Dieu, que la somme en est imposante!
18 If I count them, they are more than the grains of sand; if I come to an end, I am stil with you.	18 Je les compte, il en est plus que sable; ai-je fini, je suis encore avec toi.
19 If only, God, you would kil the wicked!-Men of violence, keep away from me!-	19 Si tu voulais, ô Dieu, tuer l'impie! Hommes de sang, allez-vous-en de moi!
20 those who speak blasphemously about you, and take no account of your thoughts.	20 Eux qui parlent de toi sournoisement, qui tiennent pour rien tes pensées.
21 Yahweh, do I not hate those who hate you, and loathe those who defy you?	21 Yahvé, n'ai-je pas en haine qui te hait, en dégoût, ceux qui se dressent contre toi?
22 My hate for them has no limits, I regard them as my own enemies.	22 Je les hais d'une haine parfaite, ce sont pour moi des ennemis.
23 God, examine me and know my heart, test me and know my concerns.	23 Sonde-moi, ô Dieu, connais mon coeur, scrute-moi, connais mon souci;
24 Make sure that I am not on my way to ruin, and guide me on the road of eternity.	24 vois que mon chemin ne soit fatal, conduis-moi sur le chemin d'éternité.
