Job 19

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Job spoke next. He said:	1 Allora Giobbe rispose, dicendo:
2 How much longer are you going to torment me and crush me by your speeches?	2 « Fino a quando affliggerete l'anima mia e mi tormenterete coi vostri discorsi?
3 You have insulted me ten times already: have you no shame at maltreating me?	3 Già per la decima volta m'insultate e non vi vergognate di malmenarmi.
4 Even if I had gone astray, my error would still be my own affair.	4 Anche dato ch'io abbia sbagliato per ignoranza, il mio sbaglio ricadrà su me.
5 But, whereas you take this superior attitude and claim that my disgrace is my own fault,	5 Ma voi vi alzate contro di me a rimproverarmi delle mie ignominie.
6 I tel you that God has wronged me and enveloped me in his net.	6 Almeno ora intendetelo che non per giusto giudizio Dio m'ha afflitto, e mi ha circondato coi suoi flagelli.
7 If I protest against such violence, I am not heard, if I appeal against it, judgement is never given.	7 Ecco, oppresso dalla violenza io grido, ma nessuno ascolta; alzo la voce, ma non ottengo giustizia.
8 He has built an impassable wal across my path and covered my way with darkness.	8 (Dìo) ha sbarrato il mio cammino, non posso passare, ha coperto di tenebre il mio sentiero.
9 He has deprived me of my glory and taken the crown from my head.	9 M'ha spogliato della mia gloria, m'ha levato dal capo la mia corona,
10 He assails me from al directions to make me vanish; he uproots my hope as he might a tree.	10 m'ha disfatto da ogni parte, ed io muoio, e come ad un albero sradicato, m'ha tolta la speranza.
11 Inflamed with anger against me, he regards me as his foe.	11 La sua collera divampa contro di me e mi ha trattato come suo nemico.
12 His troops have come in force, directing their line of advance towards me, they are now encampedround my tent.	12 Le sue schiere son venute tutte insieme, si son aperta una via contro di me, ed hanno assediata da ogni lato la mia tenda.
13 He has alienated my brothers from me, my relatives take care to avoid me,	13 Egli ha allontanati da me i miei fratelli: i miei amici si son ritirati da me come stranieri,
14 my intimate friends have gone away and the guests in my house have forgotten me.	14 i miei vicini mi hanno abbandonato, i miei conoscenti m'hanno dimenticato.
15 My slave-girls regard me as an intruder, a stranger as far as they are concerned.	15 La mia gente di casa e le mie serve mi han trattato come straniero, davanti ai loro occhi io sono stato come un pellegrino:
16 My servant does not answer when I cal him, I am obliged to beg favours from him!	16 chiamai il mio servo e non rispose, eppure lo supplicavo colla mia bocca.
17 My breath is unbearable to my wife, my stench to my own brothers.	17 La mia moglie ha avuto a schifo il mio fiato e io mi raccomandavo ai figli usciti dal mio seno.
18 Even the children look down on me, whenever I stand up, they start jeering at me.	18 Anche gli stolti mi disprezzavano e appena m'ero allontanato da loro sparlavano di me.
19 All my dearest friends recoil from me in horror: those I loved best have turned against me.	19 Quelli che una volta eran miei consiglieri mi aborrono, e quello da me più amato s'è volto contro di me.
20 My flesh is rotting under my skin, my bones are sticking out like teeth.	20 Le mie ossa, consunte le carni, stanno attaccate alla pelle, e mi son restate soltanto le labbra intorno ai denti.
21 Pity me, pity me, my friends, since I have been struck by the hand of God.	21 Abbiate pietà di me, abbiate pietà di me almeno voi, o miei amici, giacché la mano del Signore m'ha percosso!
22 Must you persecute me just as God does, and give my body no peace?	22 Perchè mi perseguitate come Dio, e vi satollate colle mie carni?
23 Will no one let my words be recorded, inscribed on some monument	23 Chi mi darà di fare scrivere le mie parole? Chi mi darà di farle tracciare in un libro con stile di ferro,
24 with iron chisel and engraving tool, cut into the rock for ever?	24 e su lamina di piombo e di farle incidere collo scalpello sulla pietra?
25 I know that I have a living Defender and that he wil rise up last, on the dust of the earth.	25 Io so infatti che il mio redentore vive, e che nell'ultimo giorno io risorgerò dalla terra,
26 After my awakening, he wil set me close to him, and from my flesh I shall look on God.	26 e, circondato di nuovo dalla mia pelle, nella mia carne vedrò il mio Dio.
27 He whom I shal see wil take my part: my eyes will be gazing on no stranger. My heart sinks withinme.	27 Io, proprio io lo vedrò: lo vedranno i miei occhi, e non altri. Questa è la speranza che ho riposta nel mio seno.
28 When you say, 'How can we confound him? What pretext can we discover against him?'	28 Perchè dunque voi ora dite: Perseguitiamolo, troviamo la radice delle parole contro di lui?
29 You yourselves had best beware the sword, since the wrath bursts into flame at wicked deeds andthen you wil learn that there is indeed a judgement!	29 fuggite adunque davanti alla spada, perchè la spada è vendicatrice dell'iniquità, e sappiate che v'è un giudizio ».
