1 Man may make plans in his heart, but what the tongue utters is from the LORD.	1 All'uomo i progetti del cuore, ma dal Signore la risposta della lingua.
2 All the ways of a man may be pure in his own eyes, but it is the LORD who proves the spirit.	2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sono pure ai suoi occhi, ma chi esamina gli spiriti è il Signore.
3 Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.	3 Affida al Signore le tue opere e i tuoi progetti si realizzeranno.
4 The LORD has made everything for his own ends, even the wicked for the evil day.	4 Ogni opera del Signore è fatta per un fine; anche l'empio, per il giorno di sventura.
5 Every proud man is an abomination to the LORD; I assure you that he will not go unpunished.	5 Il Signore detesta ogni cuore orgoglioso; sicuramente non sarà impunito.
6 By kindness and piety guilt is expiated, and by the fear of the LORD man avoids evil.	6 Con la bontà e la fedeltà si espìa il peccato e col timor di Dio ci si allontana dal male.
7 When the LORD is pleased with a man's ways, he makes even his enemies be at peace with him.	7 Quando il Signore si compiace delle vie di un uomo, gli riconcilia pure i suoi nemici.
8 Better a little with virtue, than a large income with injustice.	8 E' meglio poco con giustizia che molti beni senza l'equità.
9 In his mind a man plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps.	9 Il cuore dell'uomo decide la sua strada, ma il Signore consolida il suo passo.
10 The king's lips are an oracle; no judgment he pronounces is false.	10 C'è un oracolo sulle labbra del re, nel giudizio la sua bocca non prevarica.
11 Balance and scales belong to the LORD; all the weights used with them are his concern.	11 La bilancia e i piatti giusti son del Signore, tutti i pesi del sacco son sua opera.
12 Kings have a horror of wrongdoing, for by righteousness the throne endures.	12 I re detestano fare il male, perché con la giustizia il trono si consolida.
13 The king takes delight in honest lips, and the man who speaks what is right he loves.	13 Delizia dei re sono le labbra giuste, essi amano chi dice cose rette.
14 The king's wrath is like messengers of death, but a wise man can pacify it.	14 L'ira del re è messaggera di morte, ma l'uomo saggio la placa.
15 In the light of the king's countenance is life, and his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.	15 Nella luce del volto del re c'è la vita, il suo favore è come pioggia primaverile.
16 How much better to acquire wisdom than gold! To acquire understanding is more desirable than silver.	16 E' meglio possedere sapienza che oro e intelligenza più che argento.
17 The path of the upright avoids misfortune; he who pays attention to his way safeguards his life.	17 La via dei retti è fuggire il male; chi vuol custodire la sua anima sorveglia la sua strada.
18 Pride goes before disaster, and a haughty spirit before a fall.	18 Davanti alla rovina c'è l'orgoglio, davanti alla caduta lo spirito altero.
19 It is better to be humble with the meek than to share plunder with the proud.	19 Meglio l'umiltà dello spirito coi poveri che una parte della preda coi superbi.
20 He who plans a thing will be successful; happy is he who trusts in the LORD!	20 Chi sta attento alla parola trova il bene, e chi confida nel Signore è beato.
21 The wise man is esteemed for his discernment, yet pleasing speech increases his persuasiveness.	21 Chi è saggio di cuore è proclamato intelligente e la dolcezza delle labbra aumenta il valore.
22 Good sense is a fountain of life to its possessor, but folly brings chastisement on fools.	22 Sorgente di vita è la sapienza per chi l'ha, castigo degli stolti è la stoltezza.
23 The mind of the wise man makes him eloquent, and augments the persuasiveness of his lips.	23 Il cuore del saggio fa intelligente la sua bocca e alle sue labbra aggiunge prestigio.
24 Pleasing words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and healthful to the body.	24 Un favo di miele son le parole amabili, dolci per l'anima e salutari per le ossa.
25 Sometimes a way seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death!	25 Agli occhi dell'uomo una strada sembra retta, ma all'altro capo ci son sentieri di morte.
26 The laborer's appetite labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.	26 L'appetito del lavoratore lavora per lui, perché su lui fa forza la sua bocca.
27 A scoundrel is a furnace of evil, and on his lips there is a scorching fire.	27 L'uomo da niente prepara il male e sopra le sue labbra c'è come un fuoco ardente.
28 An intriguer sows discord, and a talebearer separates bosom friends.	28 L'uomo tortuoso fa nascer la discordia e chi diffama divide gli amici.
29 A lawless man allures his neighbor, and leads him into a way that is not good.	29 L'uomo violento seduce il suo prossimo e lo conduce per una via non buona.
30 He who winks his eye is plotting trickery; he who compresses his lips has mischief ready.	30 Chi fa occhiolino trama cose false, chi comprime le labbra compie il male.
31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by virtuous living.	31 Corona di gloria è la canizie; si trova sul sentiero della giustizia.
32 A patient man is better than a warrior, and he who rules his temper, than he who takes a city.	32 E' meglio un uomo lento all'ira che un eroe, e chi domina il suo spirito val più di chi conquista una città.
33 When the lot is cast into the lap, its decision depends entirely on the LORD.	33 Nel cavo della veste si getta la sorte, ma tutta la decisione viene dal Signore.
