1 Man may make plans in his heart, but what the tongue utters is from the LORD.	1 El hombre hace proyectos en su corazón, pero el Señor pone la respuesta en sus labios.
2 All the ways of a man may be pure in his own eyes, but it is the LORD who proves the spirit.	2 El hombre piensa que todos sus caminos son puros, pero el Señor pesa los corazones.
3 Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.	3 Encomienda tus obras al Señor, y se realizarán tus proyectos.
4 The LORD has made everything for his own ends, even the wicked for the evil day.	4 El Señor lo hizo todo con un fin, incluso al malvado, para el día nefasto.
5 Every proud man is an abomination to the LORD; I assure you that he will not go unpunished.	5 El corazón altanero es abominable para el Señor, tarde o temprano no quedará impune.
6 By kindness and piety guilt is expiated, and by the fear of the LORD man avoids evil.	6 Por la bondad y la fidelidad se expían las faltas, y con el temor del Señor se evita el mal.
7 When the LORD is pleased with a man's ways, he makes even his enemies be at peace with him.	7 Cuando el Señor se complace en la conducta de un hombre, lo reconcilia hasta con sus mismos enemigos.
8 Better a little with virtue, than a large income with injustice.	8 Más vale poco con justicia que abundantes ganancias con injusticia.
9 In his mind a man plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps.	9 El corazón del hombre se fija un trayecto, pero el Señor asegura sus pasos.
10 The king's lips are an oracle; no judgment he pronounces is false.	10 Hay un oráculo en los labios del rey: él no se equivoca cuando dicta sentencia.
11 Balance and scales belong to the LORD; all the weights used with them are his concern.	11 La báscula y las balanzas justas pertenecen al Señor, y son obra suya todas las pesas de la bolsa.
12 Kings have a horror of wrongdoing, for by righteousness the throne endures.	12 El rey aborrece las malas acciones, porque un trono se afianza gracias a la justicia.
13 The king takes delight in honest lips, and the man who speaks what is right he loves.	13 Los labios justos gozan del favor del rey: él ama al que habla con rectitud.
14 The king's wrath is like messengers of death, but a wise man can pacify it.	14 El furor del rey es mensajero de muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo aplaca.
15 In the light of the king's countenance is life, and his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.	15 Cuando el resto del rey está radiante, hay vida, y su favor es como lluvia de primavera.
16 How much better to acquire wisdom than gold! To acquire understanding is more desirable than silver.	16 Adquirir sabiduría vale más que el oro fino, adquirir inteligencia es preferible a la plata.
17 The path of the upright avoids misfortune; he who pays attention to his way safeguards his life.	17 La senda de los hombres rectos es apartarse del mal, el que vigila su camino preserva su vida.
18 Pride goes before disaster, and a haughty spirit before a fall.	18 Antes de la catástrofe está el orgullo, y antes de la caída, el espíritu altanero.
19 It is better to be humble with the meek than to share plunder with the proud.	19 Más vale ser humilde entre los pobres que repartir el botín con los orgullosos.
20 He who plans a thing will be successful; happy is he who trusts in the LORD!	20 El que está atento a la palabra encontrará la dicha, y ¡feliz el que confía en el Señor!
21 The wise man is esteemed for his discernment, yet pleasing speech increases his persuasiveness.	21 El que sabe discernir tiene fama de inteligente, y las palabras dulces son más persuasivas.
22 Good sense is a fountain of life to its possessor, but folly brings chastisement on fools.	22 El buen juicio es fuente de vida para el que lo posee, pero la necedad es el castigo de los necios.
23 The mind of the wise man makes him eloquent, and augments the persuasiveness of his lips.	23 El corazón del sabio da sensatez a su boca y hace más persuasivas sus palabras.
24 Pleasing words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and healthful to the body.	24 Las palabras amables son un panal de miel, dulce al paladar y saludable para el cuerpo.
25 Sometimes a way seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death!	25 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte.
26 The laborer's appetite labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.	26 El hambre del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca lo estimula.
27 A scoundrel is a furnace of evil, and on his lips there is a scorching fire.	27 El hombre infame cava la desgracia, y en sus labios hay como un fuego devorador.
28 An intriguer sows discord, and a talebearer separates bosom friends.	28 El hombre perverso siembra discordia, y el calumniador separa a los amigos.
29 A lawless man allures his neighbor, and leads him into a way that is not good.	29 El hombre violento seduce a su prójimo para llevarlo por el mal camino.
30 He who winks his eye is plotting trickery; he who compresses his lips has mischief ready.	30 El que cierra los ojos, maquinando cosas perversas, y aprieta los labios, ya ha cometido el mal.
31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by virtuous living.	31 Corona de gloria son los cabellos blancos, y se la encuentra en el camino de la justicia.
32 A patient man is better than a warrior, and he who rules his temper, than he who takes a city.	32 El que tarda en enojarse vale más que un héroe, y el dueño de sí mismo, más que un conquistador.
33 When the lot is cast into the lap, its decision depends entirely on the LORD.	33 Las suertes se echan en los pliegues del manto, pero la decisión viene del Señor.
